Bride hat and tee shirt tacky?

netga · 02/08/2022 17:22

Each to their own and everything but just been in my local airport and seen a girl
With a baseball cap "bride in bright green letters)
Tee shirt and jogging bottoms saying "I'm on my honeymoon" and a suitcase with bride on in big letters

I can't help but cringe a little
Overkill ?

It was probably her 'bride tribe' who arranged it and she didn't have a choice.

Anyway, she wasn't harming you in any way. Leave her be!

netga · 02/08/2022 17:26

She was with her husband
It was obviously their honeymoon
Like I say Each to their own but found it a bit tacky

I would have agreed. However, a friend of mine recently was “surprised” by her new husband having switched their luggage for bride and groom luggage.

She was livid and barely talking to him when they arrived at the airport. Someone at the airport gave them free lounge tickets. And at their hotel they gave them champagne and free dinner. So it’s tacky but also worthwhile it seems

Maireas · 02/08/2022 17:38

People give them freebies. Seriously.

ExtraOnion · 02/08/2022 17:57

Might get her an upgrade .. good luck to her

Toottooot · 02/08/2022 18:06

Good for her.

I think it’s really sweet. You get few opportunities in life to feel genuinely special, it’s quite nice. I remember when I got married I went on holiday with a friend before the wedding and she bought me a “Bride” badge, which I was initially self conscious of wearing, but everyone we encountered noticed it and commented on it and asked about the wedding and it was just lovely having strangers good wishes and made me feel really excited.

It’s okay if you think it’s tacky, no one is asking you to wear it!

MajorCarolDanvers · 02/08/2022 18:09

They will be hoping for upgrades and freebies

dudsville · 02/08/2022 18:09

It's ok to find something tacky, but what of it? Essentially you're just saying you don't like something. Ok.

mycatisannoying · 02/08/2022 18:10

Well of course it's bloody tacky, but who cares.

I agree with this! I think it's lovely she's making the most of it and enjoying herself - if I'd have been more organised I'd have done the same 😂

PutinIsAWarCriminal · 02/08/2022 18:12

It doesn't matter, does it if they weren't drunk, abusive, loud, inappropriate? Live and let live.

GrizzlyGrouch · 02/08/2022 18:16

Fingers crossed this is your biggest worry.

TidyDancer · 02/08/2022 18:18

It would definitely make me cringe. I'm not really a fan of this sort of tackiness unless it's a hen night or something like that.

FabFitFifties · 02/08/2022 18:20

Not my cup of tea, but if it gives her joy, or gets her upgrades, good for her! It's meant to be tacky - a bit of fun.

netga · 02/08/2022 18:37

It's not a worry in the slightest
I was just asking if anyone else agreed it was a bit naff
Half the clothes I wear people probably think is naff too
No hate -just made me cringe a bit

Maybe she found you a bit tacky , if it was each to their own as you said then you wouldn’t have came on here to judge her

Rwealere · 02/08/2022 18:48

friends was recently upgraded all the way flights and hotels without displaying the fact they were on their honeymoon. However not harming anyone.

sonjadog · 02/08/2022 18:52

It is meant to be naff. It is something that some people find fun and it gives them pleasure to do it. Try to appreciate that other people enjoy other things than you rather than judging.

RuthBrenner · 02/08/2022 18:52

Like I say Each to their own but found it a bit tacky

You don't really believe in each to their own though do you or you wouldn't have started a thread saying how cringy you found it.

SaySomethingMan · 02/08/2022 18:52

That would’ve just made me smile. I’d think of it as sweet.

LubaLuca · 02/08/2022 18:56

I'm usually an awful curmudgeon, but I don't see the harm in this. She's excited and someone probably bought all of this toot for her. Also as others have said it can win you upgrades and special treatment.

drpet49 · 02/08/2022 18:59

Naff and cringey

AmbushedByCake1 · 02/08/2022 19:16

Why do you keep saying 'each to their own'?! You clearly don't think that otherwise why would you start a bitchy thread about it. Yes it's naff but who cares.

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 02/08/2022 19:20

Lot to be said for making it known you're on a honeymoon. On ours we got upgraded at the hotel, upgraded flights and free drinks on multiple occasions. I made the info known subtly though with no expectations. But it did make me think I might have a few more "honeymoons".

Yes its tacky to anounce it to the world with clothing, but hey whos the stupid one here? Because it's not her!
