ARRGGHH! on holiday, trying to get into Netflix and 'apparently' the don't let you log in any longer unless you're in the region you live in/registered. I'm so pissed off - has anyone else has this crap too? Apparently it's a new policy ... so AIBU to want to fuck Netflix off, then join other providers?
Currently have Disney plus and prime
Anyone else recommend anything else

Oh wow that's a game changer. Yes sod them! Never anything worth watching om Netflix anyway.

Forestgate · 01/08/2022 20:26

Try iplayer, itv hub, c4 hub

OverTheHillAndDownTotherSide · 01/08/2022 20:26

Had this last month in Spain. Couldn’t watch everything I’d downloaded.

BorgQueen · 01/08/2022 20:29

Use a vpn like tunnel bear. It’s what I use when I want to watch American stuff.

FAQs · 01/08/2022 20:30

It was In the news not long ago, something to do with people sharing log in details reducing their customers.

Whattttttt!!!!! Even downloaded stuff! That's mental! The whole point is to download something good for the travel times/ airports / transfers etc keeps the kids quiet

I 100% agree FU

fizzywat · 01/08/2022 20:33

I use Nord VPN for issues like this. Have a google, and thanks for the heads up.

Try iplayer, itv hub, c4 hub

They don't work abroad either 😭 we where in salou in June and no tv at all and a football match was on lol couldn't get on to itv hub for same reason

WingBingo · 01/08/2022 20:36

I was going to download stuff to watch on my flight. Does it mean I can’t do that anymore?

Hawkins001 · 01/08/2022 20:37

Some people use a proxy server websites to bypass restrictions. But they are considered risky due to the potential for.e.g. Malware, etc

LemonRedwood · 01/08/2022 20:38

If you're in airplane mode then watching downloaded stuff should work (it did when I was on an aeroplane last week!).

But for streaming anything, yes use a VPN. I use NordVPN like a previous poster but there are a fair few out there to compare deals.

Another Brexit benefit. It doesn't apply to people registered in Europe who can travel all around without issue.

Labraradabrador · 01/08/2022 20:45

I was in the US last week and had no issues? According to their website, you can watch but the selection of content may be different. It does mention that some downloaded content may not be available if it isn’t available in that country.

on the plane out downloads should work if you keep it in airplane mode. The way back it might still reference the country you left, so might be an issue. If there are particular shows you really want to watch you can check online before you travel. Personally I enjoy exploring new content not available in the UK.

custardbear · 01/08/2022 20:52

Hhmm im a techno numpty so shockingly bad at work arounds

If you have downloaded stuff you can watch them in airplane mode. Worked for me

Allmarbleslost · 01/08/2022 20:58

Oh crap I hope my autistic dd doesn't find out or we'll never get her in the car to go on holiday

chilliesandspices · 01/08/2022 21:04

I downloaded things from Prime for a flight and it worked fine.

SpilltheTea · 01/08/2022 21:07

We're miles away on a UK holiday and having no problems at all. How odd.

Because you are still in the UK Grin. Region in this context means outside the UK

LincolnshireYellowBelly · 01/08/2022 21:16

We had no problems using it in Germany last week. Watched using Wi-Fi, not downloaded 🤔

OneFrenchEgg · 01/08/2022 21:16

I couldn't access anything when I went to Italy a few years ago - prime etc wouldn't work. Have downloaded a load of stuff on Netflix so a bit pissed off if we won't be able to watch it now.

sunshineandshowers40 · 01/08/2022 21:19

We are abroad (Europe) and have logged onto our Netflix account (using WiFi and some programmes aren't available).

Teacakexo · 01/08/2022 21:19

Are you getting this message when using WIFI? I had the same issue with ITV hun while in Cyprus a couple of weeks ago and got around it by using my mobile data instead of WIFI and it connected me no problem. Worth a try? P.s I got the roaming pass from my mobile provider for £10 for the week (EE) if you are worried about data

actiongirl1978 · 01/08/2022 21:19

It worked for us in Italy last week.

Logged in via the Italian WiFi on the apartment tv
