Kids screaming outside in paddling pool before 7.30 am

My neighbours are all lovely. However one side has a one yr old screaming outside 6.50 am .Half an hour later the other side has a 3 yr old in an adult size paddling pool making loads of noise while parents talk loudly too.
I admit my dcs are grown up but we used to say be quiet and go out nearer 9 because of the neighbours.
I could understand if it were a heatwave. It is not.
Not a great start when I have a 12 hr day ahead.Rant over.

Ds is autistic and would be in the paddling pool all day if I let him but at weekends he knows not before 9am even though generally he just splashed quietly.

ArtichokeAardvark · 30/07/2022 08:11

Not unreasonable at all. My kids (4 and 2) have been up since 5.30 😫but I don't unlock the back door until 8 at the earliest. I try to keep them inside until 9 at weekends but sometimes it's just not possible! Luckily my neighbours are lovely (and have incessant barking dogs so we mutually put up with each other's noise).

Shouldreallystopwatchingtv · 30/07/2022 08:13

I think 8 is the earliest you should let your kids into the back garden if they’re going to be loud enough to wake neighbours!

Was the 1 year old upset screaming or playing screaming? I ask because my almost 1 year old was absolutely inconsolable last night for some unknown reason and screamed for a good 2 hours. I ended up taking her out for a drive at about midnight so had her screaming in the front garden while I got her into the car and the neighbours would've heard her screaming for much longer. It's really difficult to control that so nobody's disturbed and they might have been at the end of their tether.

I am awake I just want coffee in peace.😣

Are you my neighbour? I was awoken by the sound of screaming kids in some garden at 7.30am. I assumed it was retaliation for whoever was having the loud party in their garden last night. Unfortunately the rest of the street got kept up by one and woken up by the other!

stressingmum · 30/07/2022 08:25

I have a 2.5 year old who is non verbal and screams a lot as a form of communication,
as a general rule I will not allow him in the garden till 9am weekdays and 10am weekends depending on what other noise we can hear as others have kids and someone nearby has been having an extension for months.

I don't think your being unreasonable they should have more respect especially at the weekend.

Mariposista · 30/07/2022 08:26

Totally unfair and selfish of them.

whatisforteamum · 30/07/2022 08:27

No idea why the 1 yr old was screaming but why are they in the garden.

Personally, it wouldn't worry me. It's the summer holidays, it's warm and stuffy. If they are outside letting off steam, they are not doing any harm.

bubblescoop · 30/07/2022 08:30

So you weren’t even asleep? Yes, YABU.

Steelesauce · 30/07/2022 08:32

Had this the other week, my only day off and kids squealing in the paddling pool at 6.30am! I got up and mowed my lawn in retaliation 🤣

Hobnobswantshernameback · 30/07/2022 08:33

Well she was asleep
until she got woken by the noise
dear god I swear people get a kick out of being obtuse wankers

UmbaRumba · 30/07/2022 08:39

I agree @whatisforteamum , what happened to respect
I'd say something when I saw them next

RedElephants · 30/07/2022 08:42

Hobnobwantshernameback
There's does seem to be a lot of them nowadays on MM

RedElephants · 30/07/2022 08:44

MN obviously HmmWink

Icequeen01 · 30/07/2022 08:47

Funnily enough I have just been ranting away at my DH about some new neighbours' kids. They are about 5 houses along but I have been able to hear them since just after 7.00 am. I'm usually really tolerant of other people's noise but this really is too much too early😡

cliffdiver · 30/07/2022 08:52

YANBU.

Noise before 7am isn't even acceptable when camping.

We don't allow DDs outside before 9am, sometimes 10am at the weekend.

towellette · 30/07/2022 08:54

but early but anything after 8 is fine by mean as it's not as bad as the constant building work!

towellette · 30/07/2022 08:55

We don't allow DDs outside before 9am, sometimes 10am at the weekend.

that would be difficult for me as we have to get to school & they have swimming etc at 9 on the weekends 😆

That is a really different circumstance though. It doesn't really matter if they are at the end of their tether, letting a screaming baby (whether it is upset screaming or playing squealing) outside in the paddling pool before seven am makes them an utter arsehole

WudYouSayItInRealLife · 30/07/2022 09:09

It's shitty to let your kids out before 9 at the absolute earliest. If your kids have to be out then take them for a walk.

My old neighbours used to let their kids out really early then the kids would run around screaming for half then go inside again. It's rude and annoying.

whatisforteamum · 30/07/2022 09:24

Maybe I'm a grumpy middle aged woman or a shift worker that gets home at 1030 pm.
They know this .
