Anyone else about throw their phone/laptop out of the window?! I realise I'm really lucky to have tickets, but my goodness, accessing them is proving so bloody hard. You have to wait in the queue just to access tickets you have already bought and paid for?! Every single time you want to see them?! One of my friends now can't make it and there's no way to change the ticket holder (I can change her name but not her email address - why not make the previous ticket invalid?) yet you also cannot download a ticket more than once or the previous version is invalid. I also can't find an option to download on my phone so saved to my google wallet which I've now discovered makes the one my husband printed for me at work invalid. If this doesn't make any sense, that's the point 😂
Anyone else losing the will?!

I do find the queue to access the already purchased tickets quite frustrating!
And having to download tickets to print onto a computer not your phone. It is a bit annoying.

User65412 · 29/07/2022 21:38

OK so I've realised that I have to have a laptop to access my tickets. How stupid! Not very accessible for people is it?! I have one for work but not allowed to use it for personal stuff. Argh.

I am with you- took me several attempts to access tickets and now struggling to find somewhere to print them from email? Surely could just show on phone? A tad frustrating!

EileenFH · 30/07/2022 19:35

V frustrating. I was trying to look up some travel info and the way it came up on phone was not helpful at all.

Dontlickthetrolley · 30/07/2022 19:41

I've printed mine, but that's because I downloaded to my phone but cannot not find them anywhere on my phone!

The website takes me to the Google pay app where I can see the tickets in Google pay but I don't have the app downloaded on my phone and when I open my Google account and select Google pay the wallet is empty! Downloading tickets and printing them was the last thing I did on the website so hoping they're valid for tomorrow and the rest of the week 🤦‍♀️

timtam23 · 30/07/2022 19:57

I agree, this was driving me round the bend last week (am going to an event tomorrow so was trying to be organised). Having to wait in a queue to access my tickets I'd already paid for was very annoying. I can't understand why downloading using a phone is not possible, also I did not have Google Pay/Google Wallet so had to install that first to access the tickets. Why they can't just email them is a mystery. It's so complicated. Trying to use the travel planner on the website is almost as bad

EtnaVesuvius · 30/07/2022 20:18

I just saved mine to my Apple wallet no problem. Was I just lucky?!

munchbunch12 · 30/07/2022 20:54

I agree, I've booked tickets online for loads of things, including international travel, for the whole family, and nothing was as difficult as getting my tickets downloaded for these games. It was the opposite of intuitive and straightforward!

tulippa · 30/07/2022 20:59

I've not tried to get tickets but trying to work out the scheduling and find out when events are on so I can watch is really complicated. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to filter anything. It feels like the website has been designed by someone whose brain works in a very different way to mine!

Kite22 · 30/07/2022 21:10

The ticket sales has not been the finest aspect of the games.

People have a lot of moans about all sorts of aspects of the allocation in the first place, then re-sale, now the printing.
It is a shame as there are so many brilliant things happening.

User65412 · 30/07/2022 21:23

@tulippa absolutely agree - very difficult to navigate the scheduling.
@munchbunch12 that made me laugh - it does seem much more complicated than any other ticket I've ever had.
Has anyone been today? I've heard travel is a nightmare. I'm trying to work out how much time to leave before the start of the session and hoping 2 hours will be enough to get from the uni train station to the hockey?!

I found it more difficult than accessing any other tickets for an event for years. Would have been even more so had my broadband not been upgraded three months ago.

CrumpetandSausage · 30/07/2022 21:37

I saved mine in my Apple wallet with no problem. Accessed them via the reminder notification.

Travel today was a nightmare. Park and ride from Solihull was a disaster. No buses or coaches. Waited at least an hour for a bus. Eventually ours dropped us at arena Birmingham. Not sure if it was supposed to. Missed first hour of gymnastics.

Had a text sending us to other side of Birmingham to get bus back. Got there to find a massive queue. No buses after 20 minutes. We got an Uber back to the car park. After a 4 1/2 hour drive from London on Friday afternoon just didn’t fancy queueing for another hour plus for the bus before driving back. Thankfully motorways were clear.

Have been offered park and ride refund. And tickets for an alternative commonwealth games session. Doesn’t really help when I’m in London. Going again next Saturday but on the train so keeping fingers crossed that will be better.

When are you going as the trains are still going to be affected tomorrow morning.
My sister went to the hockey this morning and ended up parking at the Queen Elizabeth hospital and walking about 20 minutes to the university. We are at the cricket tomorrow and am a bit frustrated as we'd planned to travel across the city on the train but think we'll have to drive to somewhere nearish and walk. I'm not sure how non locals are doing it. I live in Brum and so know my way around!

I've downloaded mine no issue to my google wallet so hoping we don't need printed tickets as haven't got a working printer.

Travel should be better tomorrow (except maybe first thing as todays strike may still be impacting then). I would've thought 2h is more than enough time to get to the hockey. I was on the Cross City line yesterday (took the DC to Sutton Park to see the triathlon) which goes through University station and there were people on it who were en-route to the hockey and seemed to think it would be easy to get to. If it's anything like the triathlon, there'll be plenty of volunteers making sure everyone is going the right way.

Sportycustard · 30/07/2022 22:23

It's an easy walk from university station to the hockey. We did it yesterday.

If you want to avoid the train queue at university after your session try walking to Selly Oak Station instead. It's the next station along but it means you get on the train one stop before the hordes at university

DappledThings · 30/07/2022 22:28

Sounds shit. Which you could have put in your thread title. There's no need for coy asterisks round these parts.

Hotandbothereds · 30/07/2022 22:28

I booked tickets ages ago then somethings come up and we can’t go, I put them in the resale, they didn’t sell but all over the website it says you’re not allowed to sell them elsewhere which is stupid imo!

So I’m stuck with tix I can’t use, and someone else would probably like to go but I can’t sell them which mom sense.

Hotandbothereds · 30/07/2022 22:29

Which makes no sense - not mom sense 😂

Womencanlift · 30/07/2022 22:30

I couldn’t even buy them. Stayed in the queue for about half an hour then when finally got through I had to create an account. After that I had to validate my account via an email that took me…guess where…. back into yet another queue. Gave up after not moving in that second queue for about 40 minutes

changingwinds · 30/07/2022 22:33

For those having issues with parking, alot of people that live nearby the games venues are renting out their driveways for parking. Apps such as Just Park. Something to consider if you want to save the hassle of public transport.

littlequestion · 30/07/2022 22:33

The travel planner was the most useless thing I've ever seen. Getting to the Alexander stadium from New Street seems to involve about 3 buses, one for 0.2 of a mile? Haven't attempted to download tickets yet- going to get the dc to do it tomorrow

GroggyLegs · 30/07/2022 22:36

I couldn't download them to my Google wallet, so I've printed them - I'm quite relieved I took the old lady option after reading this thread.

The whole website is a bit shit though. We're planning to go to the park for tomorrow's triathlon & the event map has chopped off the actual park and the running route. Why haven't they just put a nice PDF on there?!

Other than that, enjoying the games & spotting places I know. DH getting pissed off with my constant withering that a landmark is coming up... Oooh there it is... 🤣

EtnaVesuvius · 30/07/2022 22:39

I found it ok to book. You can filter by date and also tick ‘only show sessions with available tickets’. It’s not the smoothest system but I’ve seen worse.

The only thing that was tricky was changing my address as we’ve moved since I registered. The irony being that they don’t even need my address! But that was fine in the end. Maybe my brain works in the same way as the person who designed the booking system’s 😂
