Fast way to loose bloating and belly fat (light hearted....ish)

Aibu to think I can get a flat(ter) stomach in a week? Grin

I've had a very stressful few weeks, a death to get my head around, been on my period which has been unusually heavy and bloaty and miserable, my skin is a mess and I've been eating crap convenience food, no exercise and just generally not taking care of myself. I've been wearing loose lounge clothes mostly and just been comfortable.

I put high waisted jeans and a top on today and I was practically bursting out of the jeans and my tshirt felt stretched. I actually felt really shocked at how terrible I looked and felt after a few weeks.

I could really do without feeling this crap about myself and wondered if anyone has any tips on how to feel a bit better about myself by next weekend? (Various social things I'm going to).

I'm thinking loads of water, absolutely no junk and no snacking, 3 low calorie meals a day, and just hope for the best? Grin

That will help but really, in a week, you're not going to be able to do much. If you can afford it, go and buy a couple of nice floaty dresses that will be comfortable, not constricting and accessories to feel like you look nice. I sympathize..really struggling with belly fat and seemingly unable to shift any weight and dp has booked a last minute holiday for us in the Med..last thing I feel like doing is sunning myself 😢

Exercise and yoga to stretch out and lots of whole foods should help. Good luck!

sallllladfiingers · 24/07/2022 19:24

I feared as much, I just feel so unhealthy and bloated and crap. I know I've had a lot to deal with so I'm trying not to be hard on myself, I've just turned to comfort eating and laziness to ease the stress.

I am going to limit my calories as much as I can and do some light exercise, and drink as much water as I can to at least try and clear my skin up.

I'm not expecting to lose much actual weight but just feel a bit better in my clothes I suppose...

Guess it depends on how much fat you’re
holding in general?…

I’m 9st, 5’4 and have more muscle than fat. So a flat stomach is very achievable for me.

I don't have much muscle at all, very soft and wobbly Grin

I find I can make a difference to my face and stomach in a week

just tons of salad, water, green tea, baby carrots and grapefruit. That kind of thing

GL!

something2say · 24/07/2022 19:39

Personally I like fasting for feeling better. Fast for 16 hours and plenty of water.

I've never tried fasting, will read up on it!

This is what I'm hoping for, a miracle, and a slightly less round face and belly GrinGrin

Ooh yes you can definitely make a difference in a week. I started fast 800 1 week ago and feel great. I’ve lost 6lbs and my stomach is less flabby 😁

SkyLarkDescending · 24/07/2022 19:43

I would try fasting OP.
I don't eat breakfast and then eat eggs for lunch, a salad or omelette for dinner and litres of water and I can feel a difference in a week.

sallllladfiingers · 24/07/2022 19:48

You guys are giving me hope Grin

Grated cucumber water really helps to get rid of water retention.

prepared101 · 24/07/2022 19:53

16:8 religiously all week
At least 2l of water a day
No bread
At least 10,000 steps a day- ideally 15,000.

No carbs for the full week.It works

Bintymcbintface · 24/07/2022 20:51

Your period would add to the bloating, I know with mine I look pregnant and gain almost half a stone of just nasty period water weight. Limit processed food and drink plenty of water, it will help. As a side, I guarantee that you don't look anywhere near as crap as you think you do

figtrees · 24/07/2022 20:51

You're unlikely to have any noticeable fat loss on a week but cutting carbs may help the bloated feeling.
Avoid salt completely and any food with added salt. It causes water retention.
Cut right back on sugar and drink unsweetened green tea.
Don't eat big portions and try to have lesfy vegetables as at minimum 1/3rd of your plate every meal.
Consider fasting if you don't have health reasons that make it impossible. I fast from waking til 6pm and then just have a small evening meal, probably twice a week. It seems to keep cravings in check as well.

capricorn12 · 24/07/2022 20:52

Another vote for fasting here. I used to do the 5:2 and its the only thing that ever worked for me.....I need to get back on it really.

WonderingWanda · 24/07/2022 21:01

I can get rid of half stone of bloat in a week with no white cards, biscuits etc. Lots of fruit, veg and protein and lots of water. Also some light exercise to help things along. Should make you feel better.

I have 10 days to do the same and am currently resisting tea and biscuits by staying in the bath till bedtime! Good luck op!

Cucumberbund · 24/07/2022 21:06

Cut out bread and carbs, drink loads of water, high dose of vit c and if you can stomach it apple cider vinega, a tablespoon in glass of warm water with tiny pinch of breadsoda ( it makes it far more palatable) or a tablespoon of cider vinegar and a tablespoon of honey in warm water every morning. Really amazing for bloat.

sallllladfiingers · 24/07/2022 21:22

Thanks so much for tips and advice, I am writing it all down and will be doing a quick food shop in the morning to pick up some bits to get me through the week.

I am absolutely seething. I had a bar of chocolate in the fridge I was looking forward to enjoying tonight as a last tasty treat for a while and some bastard has eaten it! Husband denying all knowledge and the kids are asleep.

Maybe it was for the best Grin

I have decided to fast till lunch time each day, and have a healthy lunch and tea.

And just drink lots of water through the morning.

So far so good! Hungry, but keeping busy so it doesn't bother me.

I was going to ask if you're menopausal , it's a bugger to shift the Menopausal Belly as there's the hormonal imbalance too .

Agree with cut out bread and sugar
Increase water

I have <smug> not eaten chocolate since end of April ...and I don't have the craving for it . I'm hoping my resolve will carry me on .

Before when I wanted to not eat chocolate , I drank lime cordial because I cannot stand the two together (even the words Lime Chocolate make me heave) so they wouldn'r co-exsist in my belly Grin
