I'm thinking of doing an A Level for fun / hobby in the evening but not sure what subject to go for.

Perhaps politics / sociology / psychology

Anyone done these and have any feedback?

What course would you do for fun?

Not and A level but I was thinking I might try a BSL course

I did level 1, I really enjoyed it!

custardbear · 18/07/2022 21:07

I did sociology and psychology A level at night school in a year, they're very impacted courses so you can't answer all the exam questions ... got my A levels, then degree and PhD so was a good idea!

custardbear · 18/07/2022 21:08

Compacted (not impacted lol )

Fifthtimelucky · 18/07/2022 21:09

I'd probably do something like music or history of art.

It's interesting that so many people are saying psychology, politics and sociology. My daughter recently qualified as a psychology teacher, and will also be teaching sociology, so perhaps I should get her to teach me. I already have a politics A level.

applecharlotte12 · 18/07/2022 21:09

I would love to do philosophy at a level!

southlondoner02 · 18/07/2022 21:10

I did film studies A level a few years ago which was great. It was an evening class attached to a university with a film studies dept, so possibly not that easy to find

NeverDropYourMooncup · 18/07/2022 21:11

I'd do a language.

I took Sociology, Economics and English Lit at sixth form. I can't recommend any of them.

Goodskin46 · 18/07/2022 21:13

I'd do Italian

DarkDarkNight · 18/07/2022 21:13

I enjoyed psychology.

thefirstmrsrochester · 18/07/2022 21:16

Geography.

Dilbertian · 18/07/2022 21:17

English Language.

When I accompanied my dc to their A-level choices evenings, I was blown away by how interesting some of the syllabuses were - especially English Language. For the first time ever I considered doing an A-level for fun.

Myownpapillon · 18/07/2022 21:20

History or English Lit. I did a sociology A level and it was a bit drier than I expected it to be.

willyouwontyoubemine · 18/07/2022 21:21

My DD is about to start a GCSE in citizenship and that looks really good, no idea if there is an A level in it but it seems to be a mixture of politics, sociology and others socially important areas.

topcat2014 · 18/07/2022 21:22

I did sociology as an adult

JulesJules · 18/07/2022 21:27

I really like the sound of the new GCSE in Natural History, I think when that becomes available I might do it.

Annoyedwithmyself · 18/07/2022 21:27

Ooh. Philosophy or another language, probably Italian

Figgygal · 18/07/2022 21:30

I studied politics and sociology before settling on and getting a degree in psychology
Id love to do an A level as i went through scottish system - i fancy physics

Figgygal · 18/07/2022 21:31

bimbimbap · 18/07/2022 21:31

I did a few extra A-levels ‘for sun’ at night school years after finishing Uni - Psychology, History of Art then (started but couldn’t finish due to work) History. I really enjoyed them all!

bimbimbap · 18/07/2022 21:31

for fun*

ShandaLear · 18/07/2022 21:33

I’d do economics. It overlaps with so much of my work I think I’d find it really useful. Actually OP you’ve given me a lovely idea!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/07/2022 21:36

I did a C&G in Photography before the DC were born. I'd like to do A level History in future.

Crazymadchickenlady · 18/07/2022 21:36

I wouldn’t do an a level as I don’t fancy writing essays but would love to do pottery

tobee · 18/07/2022 21:39

Modern history, which I didn't select at the last minute.

Quite like to re take English literature now that I'm a bit older and wiser. But, knowing me, I'd probably get a worse grade than I got last time! 😬
