Washing rained on

breatheinskipthegym · 12/07/2022 17:07

Hung out 4 loads. Weather forecast said it would be glorious - it wasn’t and it rained! Now glorious again and it’s dried. AIBU to not re-wash and just put it away? I reckon it’s fine, but also have a weird niggling feeling about it.

Why would you wash it again? What do you think was in the rain?

TheDuck2018 · 12/07/2022 17:08

Absolutely fine, just put it away.

BurscoughBooths · 12/07/2022 17:09

Why on earth would it need rewashing? Just put it away and forget about it

PatsyJStone · 12/07/2022 17:09

I know someone would wash it all again. Not me though! If rain is that dangerous surely we'd all know it

Dartmoorcheffy · 12/07/2022 17:10

I'm absolutely falling to understand why it would be a concern. Its not acid coming down. Its fresh clean water.

LubaLuca · 12/07/2022 17:10

Do you need a shower if you get rained on?

WitchWithoutChips · 12/07/2022 17:12

Don’t be daft. Of course it is fine.

bumpertobumper · 12/07/2022 17:14

Rainwater, even in a smoggy city, is cleaner than any water that comes out of a tap.
It's had an extra rinse

Vetiver · 12/07/2022 17:14

Mine often gets rained on, it’s never crossed my mind to wash it again… as a bonus it helps get any creases out.

lifeofaleo · 12/07/2022 17:15

I'd only wash again if it had that damp musty smell once the washing was dry

Poppyseed14 · 12/07/2022 17:15

As long as it didn't get darked on OP you will be OK.

Yodaisawally · 12/07/2022 17:16

Same here, not rewashing. Can't be arsed.

ReviewingTheSituation · 12/07/2022 17:24

I'm just impressed you have a washing line big enough for 4 loads! My rotary airer definitely doesn't take more than 1 (granted I do use the 8kg capacity to full effect).
My colleague was appalled that I'd hung my washing out at 11pm ready to dry the next day, so you can probably imagine I'd have no concern whatsoever about a bit of rain!

Choice4567 · 12/07/2022 17:26

What happens to it if it gets rained on?

i quite often dry over night when it’s this hot to prevent the complaints of “it’s crispy”

I was just about to say this Grin

ElizaJones · 12/07/2022 17:28

It’s just water

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 12/07/2022 17:29

Are your plants, grass, buildings, patio, windows etc still ok after the rain?
if yes, you’ve nothing to fear. If anything has dissolved or died as a result of the rain, the I would re wash the clothing.

Livpool · 12/07/2022 17:31

No way I would be re-washing this. They have just had an extra rinse 🤷🏼‍♀️

cottagegardenflower · 12/07/2022 17:32

I worry about dirt from atmospheric pollution raining on my clean clothes but it silly because you wear them and walk around in the same polluted air

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 12/07/2022 17:34

Nope. It'll be fine. I put mine out in this weather before I go to bed too

Funkyslippers · 12/07/2022 17:37

I'm glad there are others here that put washing out in the evening. I've never heard of it before but I often do it as I know I won't have time the next morning.
Re rain, my washing often gets rained on but I don't touch it until it's dry enough to bring in. Sometimes takes a few days ☺️

Hotinnit · 12/07/2022 17:42

Fine unless it smells funny

MrsPear · 12/07/2022 17:49

I’ll re wash if it was the muddy rain.

PuckeredArseFace · 12/07/2022 17:54

I'd wash it again even though I know it illogical
