To not want to eat in this horrible, hot weather?

Helendee · 12/07/2022 12:42

Just the above really?
My tummy rumbles and wants food but I find the idea of eating just nauseating.
Nothing appeals at all.
Any tips for healthy, light snacks?

I wish I felt like this, it makes me want to eat junk all day and my healthy eating as completely gone out the window. As well my motivation to exercise.

Crocsandshocks · 12/07/2022 12:44

Yes absolutely. I am trying to convince myself to eat a sandwich for lunch but I just can't be bothered! Thought it was just me. Normally I am a real foodie.

Mushroo · 12/07/2022 12:45

I’ve been going for fruit - grapes, strawberries etc. nice and cold!

purplecorkheart · 12/07/2022 12:47

I am the exact same. Skipped dinner last night as I was too hot. Stomach is rumbling now but I really don't want anything. No great food options near my work place either.

Playplayaway · 12/07/2022 12:48

I'm like this too but get hungry I'm the evenings and make up for it then. Last night I had cheese and crackers and chocolate milk at 10.45 😋

WirelessBirmingham · 12/07/2022 12:53

Not the point of the thread but it's raining and not too hot here (Cheshire).

sittingonacornflake · 12/07/2022 12:56

As I sit here in Cornwall WFH wearing fluffy socks and a jumper with clouds overhead I cannot relate Grin

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/07/2022 12:58

Fruit and lots of fluids. Little and often. You don't need to have big meals.

crosstalk · 12/07/2022 12:58

I've made industrial quantities of gazpacho ... which I can eat straight from the fridge. And blended cucumber mint and yoghourt soup or watercress/spinach soup.

ThreeLittleDots · 12/07/2022 12:59

It's not cold in Cornwall, come off it! I'm too hot and also don't want to eat anything

Skinnermarink · 12/07/2022 13:00

I lived in a very hot country once and I never felt the to skip food because of it. It’s a bit affected all this moaning that I can’t eat it’s too hot. You could just eat fruit or salad or a big fuck off watermelon if you want to or gazpacho. Hot weather foods.

sittingonacornflake · 12/07/2022 13:00

@ThreeLittleDots where in Cornwall are you? It's not cold don't get me wrong but as I'm sat still on my laptop and it's not hot I'm in a jumper otherwise I feel chilly. SE coast.

bellabasset · 12/07/2022 13:01

I'm sitting here in Cornwall eating a sausage baguette, lovely it's only 23° indoors and I'll be able to get out into the garden. I actually slept last night. 😅 It's hazy here on the South Coast

ThreeLittleDots · 12/07/2022 13:02

I'll swap with you! Was too hot in the night. Far west, nr Helston and it's 28C upstairs

Beanomatica · 12/07/2022 13:08

I find iced coffee to be an excellent summer meal replacement. It may not tick all the healthy boxes but is insanely refreshing.

Espresso, vanilla ice cream, bit of milk, lots of ice cubes. Heaven.

sittingonacornflake · 12/07/2022 13:09

@ThreeLittleDots oooof that's hot!

TuftyMarmoset · 12/07/2022 13:09

I’ve just gone out and bought loads of cold food - grapes, pasta salad, wraps, bean salad, yogurt, sushi etc so that it’s quite refreshing to eat. Thinking about putting some of the grapes in the freezer as well.

@sittingonacornflake not sure where exactly you are but BBC weather tells me it’s 24 feels like 27/28 in Penzance, Lizard and Coverack - have you had your thyroid checked?

Helendee · 12/07/2022 13:11

@Skinnermarink

Not affected at all, totally genuine!
I don’t like fruit so no go there either. 😁

@TuftyMarmoset thank you, but I'm about 2 hours drive from there, the very other end of the county. And it's cloudy. And I'm inside sat still working. So hopefully my thyroid is ok!

Lovesacake · 12/07/2022 13:15

ICE CREAM. That’s all. Just lots and lots of ice cream with maybe an occasional lolly to spice things up.
also crisps. It’s never too hot for crisps.

Yes, realised I misread SE for SW! It’s the same temperature in Looe though despite the cloud.

Lovelydovey · 12/07/2022 13:18

Fruit and salad - nothing hot for me!

DC have chosen to eat porridge and spag bol today - utter madness…

butternutsquishh · 12/07/2022 13:18

I’ve just eaten a bowl of cheesy chips I am not your target audience I feel 😂

fizzywat · 12/07/2022 13:20

Cold mashed potato with cheese and mayo.
Greek yogurt with lots of chopped berries and nuts/seeds.
Green (veg) smoothie
Milkshake.
Bowl of oatibix/weetabix ice cold soya milk.

That's all I've had for the past few days, oh and carb filled white bread with seedless raspberry jam. Who cares? No way am I cooking yet...
