To not want to eat in this horrible, hot weather?

Just the above really?
My tummy rumbles and wants food but I find the idea of eating just nauseating.
Nothing appeals at all.
Any tips for healthy, light snacks?

@TuftyMarmoset you seem to really disbelieve me but my thermometer says 22 and sat inside not moving... I'm not hot. I promise I'm not lying. Or unwell. But after a scorching hot weekend today is.... not hot 🤷‍♀️

It’s not that I don’t believe you don’t feel hot, it’s that even sat still, 22 isn’t a temperature that a healthy person normally needs a jumper - that’s why I wondered if you might have some health issue.

I felt nauseous after lunch yesterday. I had an exercise class yesterday evening so just drank lots and ate pots of fruit beforehand. I managed a big breakfast today (no lunch so far), but I don't much fancy a big meal for dinner later.

It's a beautiful afternoon in the west of Ireland - 22 degrees indoors, bright sun outside - so of course I'm cooking an authentic (according to the interwebs) Goan vindaloo. I saw a Nigella recipe on FB today for watermelon, feta and black olive salad, so that's a possibility if it gets any warmer.

Sounds delicious! I think spicy foods are meant to be good in hot weather, as your body works to cool you down, as opposed to eating cold foods, and your body tries to warm you up again.

It's 26C in our house, that surely isn't much above average, I'm in Northamptonshire so fairly central, my appetite is fairly normal

I have lived in Asia and never had problems eating in hot weather or would have starved.
Still eat the same kind of food made in an electric pressure cooker so no heat escaping into the kitchen. Last night was chilli and rice with salad, dhal for lunch today and tandoori chicken tonight.
Have a small portable oven which can be plugged in outdoors if there is a need to use an oven and cook enough for a couple of days.
Otherwise would be picky bits of cheese and biscuits, cooked meats, frittata, oven baked scotch eggs.
It has drizzled most of the morning here in North West.

Did bbq chicken kebabs last night as cooler standing outside (gas bbq) and veg I'd roasted in the morning before work.

watermelon is fantastic - or any melon really.

Magnums (obvs)

Salad and cheese.

It's only 19 degrees here so feeling just pleasant.

Is this the first time you have experienced hot weather in your life lol.

Think about how you coped or aye before.

Yodaisawally · 12/07/2022 15:48

Hot weather happens every summer! Eat what you feel like eating. We are having grilled garlic chicken on them bbq tonight because my kitchen is a furnace and I really need to sort out some kind of blind or awning.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 12/07/2022 15:57

Cheese and crackers and fruit here. Late breakfast and a late lunch/early dinner so 2 meals a day well spaced apart.

And an obligatory magnum!

AtleastitsnotMonday · 12/07/2022 16:02

I agree I am far less interested in food when it's hot. I'm going for salad based meals, but to be honest I eat a lot of salad year round. I crave salt more than anything, so I'm currently munching some salt and vinegar chickpeas.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 12/07/2022 16:07

Watermelon!

Other fruit also good. And salad.

HannahSternDefoe · 12/07/2022 16:09

If I never eat a salad again it will be too soon.

Having just come back from Sardinia, it's actually cooler here, 28 v. 38. In any event, we still ate massive pizza, or fried fish, or pasta for lunch, and a 4 course meal for dinner...... mind you, I didn't have to cook it, so that was a bonus. Didn't ever loose our appetites 😁
