If it has got slightly shorter as time has gone on or after a baby?
mine has gone from 29/30 days as a teen to 26/27 in my early 30s, and just had an odd 24 day cycle. Just curious if this is a ‘thing’!

Since my third child I now have 21-24 day cycles, was always a 28 day woman before that.

bumpertobumper · 11/07/2022 14:02

The change also came as I turned 40

ThreeLittleDots · 11/07/2022 14:05

Yes it's a thing due to waning hormones and increasing age. Some degree of perimenopause can begin in your mid-late 30s and last a decade or longer before your cycles stop.

I had shorter cycles from late 30s, now on HRT.

MotherOfPuffling · 11/07/2022 14:18

For me it is definitely linked to perimenopause, it having a child. Had been shortening since turned 40. Mid 40s now and roughly a 14-16 day cycle these days.

inmyslippers · 11/07/2022 14:19

Mines 22/24 days approx. I'm 33

Wouldloveanother · 11/07/2022 14:19

thanks, I was aware this could happen during peri in late 30s/early 40s, but didn’t know a subtle change in early 30s was normal?

Crunchymum · 11/07/2022 14:23

Yep mine went from 30-31 days to 28 days post children (a 26 day cycle isn't unheard of)

And I have the odd AWOL period thrown in for good measure every now and again not pregnant

hellosunshineagainx · 11/07/2022 14:24

I'm 31, cycle was 29 days pre baby and now it's between 26 and 28 but also had the odd 24/25 days when I have been stressed so think it made me ovulate early. As long as it's generally the same length the odd shorter or longer cycle isn't anything to worry about. I reckon prebaby I probably had these shorter cycles when stressed too I just didn't notice as I wasn't tracking!

lugeforlife · 11/07/2022 14:28

Mine was always 28/29 days. It fairly suddenly changed to 25/26 days when I was 33. I remember this very specifically as I was going through ivf for tube issues at the time so discussed with my fertility dr. She was not at all bothered and said it happens.

I am now almost 48 and I still get the fuckers regular as clockwork every 25/26 days. And my ivf was successful.

Cameronnorrieisabitofalright · 11/07/2022 14:28

28 days from 12yo until early 40's. Down to 26 days.. Had a dc at 43. 2 and back to 28 days now.

Jericha · 11/07/2022 14:31

Had my child aged 30 and my cycle was 31 days before that. Periods were also 7 days long. Since having him it moved to either 27 days or 31 days, and periods last 5 days, but the last year (now mid 30s) it's been 27 days with a random shorter cycle every few months. I'm now pregnant and I knew I ovulated really early, like day 9, and I got a positive pregnancy test 8 days before my period was due.

ChimChimeny · 11/07/2022 14:32

Mine used to be about 5 weeks, then 4 weeks after having DD, now 10 years on it's 29-26, but probably averages 22/23.

Definitely more sporadic but as I'm 41 I assume that's a peri-menopause thing

PublicServicesNotTaxCuts · 11/07/2022 14:50

Always been regular for spells (all different lengths, features) interspersed with spells of unpredictability. Only truly got something novel when I hit my mid 50s.

FilePhoto · 11/07/2022 14:58

Mine went from 'slightly random" to '28days. On the dot at noon" after my 2nd child when I was 22.

I'm 37 now and my cycle varies from 32-78 days. I do have pcos though.

Snowflakes1122 · 11/07/2022 15:04

Yes, my periods used to be 30/31 days, then they changed lasts year to 27/28 days. Always been clockwork, so I was surprised.

I am 36 and assumed my fertility was in decline, so never looked into it. I’m now pregnant with surprise baby, so I was wrong there…

itsgettingweird · 11/07/2022 15:09

Mine was always bang on 28 days.

Then I developed adenomyosis and it went all over the place until I seemed to just bleed continuously every day on a cycle of 16:8 hours!

Hysterectomy last week has been my saving grace Grin

Yes you have a hormone change at 30.

Only found that out because I started getting migraines and GP said it's likely hormone related (because of the pattern) and mentioned my age also being a clue to what it likely was.

After my partner had one shot - and the 3 eldest kids were vaccinated My period became abnormally heavy - and my cycle shorted by a couple of days. My gynecologist told me it was a known side effect of being vaccinated but he didn't know about side effects of being / living with vaccinated people. Heading for cover now... as I know the majority of MN's will likely say I'm being ridiculous.
I've looked into it. I'm definitely not alone either.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 11/07/2022 15:15

So interesting to hear I’m not the only one. I’ve always been super regular 29 day cycle. Made it very easy to conceive all three kids first time. But after my third they started back in a 26 day cycle. A year later and they vary 26-29 days. I just turned 40 and was hoping they’d get further apart if anything not closer together. Annoying.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 11/07/2022 15:16

@toogoodforthisworld You’re being wildly ridiculous.

LadyLolaRuben · 11/07/2022 15:21

28-30 days age 43

This happened before the jab, I first noticed it in 2019

@toogoodforthisworld are you suggesting that simply being in the proximity of someone who has had a covid vaccine has altered your menstrual cycles?? Any suggestion on the mechanism of how that would work? Because it sound ludicrous.

Withthewind · 11/07/2022 15:41

I’m 22. Cycle length 29 days. Period lasts 3 days.

Yodaisawally · 11/07/2022 15:54

Was always 28 and now anything from 21 to 43. Fucking peri.
