If it has got slightly shorter as time has gone on or after a baby?
mine has gone from 29/30 days as a teen to 26/27 in my early 30s, and just had an odd 24 day cycle. Just curious if this is a ‘thing’!

Having my children made my periods more painful but I was a 28 day regular cycle girl until mid 30’s when I had bleeding in between periods and slightly shorter cycles. Peri menopause apparently.

GodspeedJune · 11/07/2022 16:04

Mine are so variable, anything from 21-27 days. Then last year I had three cycles lasting just two weeks. I was diagnosed with low ovarian reserve at 30 so wonder if that is related. No other menopause symptoms yet.

Woodsparrow · 11/07/2022 16:06

Was always 27 days pre kids, and super super light, even with a copper coil. After my first babu aged 25 they've gotten shorter. About 25 days now and really heavy

Wouldloveanother · 11/07/2022 16:10

I hope it isn’t peri, I’m ttc 😞 and only 31. Can it happen that early?!

OP posts:
zingally · 11/07/2022 16:30

Mine has never ever been consistent. Anything from 23 to 29 days is normal for me. If anything, my cycle has been slightly longer since hitting my 30s.

GodspeedJune · 11/07/2022 16:33

Wouldloveanother It can happen early but that doesn’t mean it’s happening to you. If you mention the change in your cycles and that you’re TTC your GP may run some blood tests. Another helpful test is for your AMH, but you’d have to pay privately for this if you already have DC.

Wouldloveanother · 11/07/2022 16:40

Thanks Godspeed. I’m not too worried at the moment, although they’ve got a bit shorter over the last few years they’re pretty stable I think? We’ve only been ttc number 2 for 2 months so will give it a bit longer and see what happens.

Hi OP! Mine shortened to around 24 days but I conceived quickly, please don't worry! How long have you been trying for?

Wouldloveanother · 11/07/2022 17:54

Not long Kitty, a couple of months. Got preg first try with DD. I’m just a little paranoid that I lucked out + this time will be much longer!

OP posts:
RidingMyBike · 11/07/2022 18:22

I have PCOS so my cycle for over 20 years was anything between 3 weeks and six months! Since having DD it's gone to between 33 and 36 days each time.

It's really weird knowing when it'll be!

Wouldloveanother · 11/07/2022 22:33

Six months! Sounds like your system got rejigged during pregnancy as well!

saturdaynightgin · 11/07/2022 22:59

My cycle seems to have done the opposite of everyone else’s.. was 27/28 days, with a 4 day period pre children. Had the copper coil fitted over a year ago when youngest was 1 and my cycle is now 34 days with a 7/8 day period 😫

LaWench · 11/07/2022 23:03

Before DC, anywhere from 40 to 60 days. Afterwards, once everything settled down it went to 28 days evey month without fail, like having a baby reset my clock.

I'm also amazed at people having a consistant cycle length, I have PCOS and mine has vaired from 20-90 days
I have a 6 month old baby and my periods still haven't returned, but I'm hoping the pregnancy will have 'reset' me a bit and they will return with some regularity!

Coffeenoww · 11/07/2022 23:41

All through my 20s I was 30 days, I had all my babies in my 20s as well. 30s dropped to 28 days now early 40s seemed to have settled at 25 days.

BashfulClam · 11/07/2022 23:47

Used to be 60 days, now 29-31.

@toogoodforthisworld You’re being wildly ridiculous.

Im glad you know better. I'll let my gynecologist know he has it wrong then. Confused. He was the one who told me the vaccination was causing extra bleeds / changes to the menstrual cycle as a side effect - but that it would slowly get better.

toogoodforthisworld · 12/07/2022 09:09

Flowermarket · 11/07/2022 15:41

@toogoodforthisworld are you suggesting that simply being in the proximity of someone who has had a covid vaccine has altered your menstrual cycles?? Any suggestion on the mechanism of how that would work? Because it sound ludicrous.

No. I have no idea either how this works - I'm just sharing my experience.

Wouldloveanother · 12/07/2022 13:14

I don’t really believe another person having the vaccine could change your cycle

RidingMyBike · 13/07/2022 11:11

In my teens I had a total disconnect from the biology and PSHE teaching that talked about 28 day cycles as this was so far removed from my reality - it meant I decided not to study science any further than GCSE!

It was bizarre when I lived in an all-girl house share as a student to discover that some women really did have regular 28 day cycles Smile

Cotswoldmama · 13/07/2022 11:13

Mines got longer pre kids about 32 days post kids about 36 days

Icanstillrecallourlastsummer · 13/07/2022 11:14

Cycles shorten in perimenopause, which can start 10 years before your actual menopause. It's normal. I went from long cycles 35+ days to now around 28.

Wouldloveanother · 14/07/2022 12:04

How old were you when that happened @Icanstillrecallourlastsummer

OP posts:
Icanstillrecallourlastsummer · 14/07/2022 12:05

It's happened gradually over the past 2 maybe 3 years I'd say. I'm 38 now.

Wouldloveanother · 14/07/2022 12:06

Oh right so mid 30s, interesting
