www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10998403/amp/Temperatures-London-reach-sweltering-42-CELSIUS-Sunday-Monday.html

Am I being unreasonable to think 1st, WTAF? And 2nd not sure I can actually survive this heat let alone work in it!!!

Fans, or air conditioning, the local supermarket cool as a cucumber

Narwhalelife · 10/07/2022 22:50

@Hawkins001 I’m going to have to set up in the frozen section of sainsburys for work that day 😳

ChuckBerrysBoots · 10/07/2022 22:50

There’s one forecast model that has temps reaching about 40 but others saying unlikely to get that high. I guess this is our new reality?

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 10/07/2022 22:51

Metoffice are saying 30c

ShirleyPhallus · 10/07/2022 22:52

It’s an amazing time to be 38 weeks pregnant I can confirm!

knackeredagain · 10/07/2022 22:54

They say it has the potential to get that high but is unlikely to. It’s the DM doing what it does best.
Don’t get me wrong, 30° is still bloody hot, but it’s not 43°.

BigChesterDraws · 10/07/2022 22:58

We regularly gave temperatures higher than that where I live. I can assure you life goes on.

Narwhalelife · 10/07/2022 22:59

@ShirleyPhallus wishing you all the best - that is horrendous 🥵😬💕

Narwhalelife · 10/07/2022 22:59

@BigChesterDraws English people won’t cope - honestly it will be all we talk about

Not fans. Not over about 36. They do the opposite of help.

Narwhalelife · 10/07/2022 23:01

I’m taking the daily Mail with a pinch of salt but crikey - we will all be wishing for the heat when it’s snowing and heating costs £538 a second to run come October 🤣🤣

Thanks very much, I’m melting!

BlackboardMonitorVimes · 10/07/2022 23:03

If you follow @ohyoubadbadkitten then you'd already know about this. The Mumsnet legend was there well before the Daily Mail!

Wineat5isfine · 10/07/2022 23:26

I feel for anyone who is heavily pregnant in this heat! There was a heatwave when I went into labour and I stayed in hospital for 4 days as DS wasn’t well. They had the bloody heating on!!

I actually thought I was going to spontaneously combust!

If only our heatwaves weren’t so humid!

VeniVidiWeeWee · 10/07/2022 23:32

@Narwhalelife

Many people have to work outdoors in these temperatures. Think yourself lucky you don't have to.

Georgeskitchen · 10/07/2022 23:32

Why do MMers claim not to read the Daily mail yet keep posting links?
They clearly do read the DM!!

Hypocrisy. As in the OP's thread title.

Isaidnoalready · 10/07/2022 23:45

Follow Midlands storm chasers Vicki is goosander reliable but even she is saying it looks very hot

justasking111 · 10/07/2022 23:47

Wel I follow Ventusky which is pretty accurate it's not looking good for next weekend we're stuck in a car for six hours on Saturday 🙈

NumeroZero · 10/07/2022 23:47

There are some great cooling mists on pharmacies. I am going to get a few before they sell out.

Portugal is hitting the high 40s... it's not unlikely we will too this summer.

A lot of people are sadly going to die if it does.

I got an aircon unit last year after the ridiculously hot 4 days we had. My DC nearly collapsed just being in our house.

MiniPiccolo · 11/07/2022 00:05

The ventusky model is showing 39°c here in the east/se next sunday.

Honestly would be telling anyone down south to make a mass exodus towards hadrians wall.
