Sickness bug at hotel before flight.

Due to get up for a flight in 2 1/2 hours. We're meant to be going on our honeymoon. I've just been sick and had diarrhoea. I'm guessing I'm not going anywhere. Would you still fly if you had a stomach bug. Feel so sad that I might miss our honeymoon 😢.

Do you think it's definately a bug? No way it could be nerves or excitment? (I get a terrible upset stomach when anxious or nervous). You've got a couple of hours before you have to make a final decision. Try not to worry just yet.

NeedToLeaveNow · 10/07/2022 01:54

One bout of each?
Have you been near anyone with a gastro bug?
Eaten anything dodgy/ different
How is Wife / Husband?

NeedToLeaveNow · 10/07/2022 01:54

Do you feel ill?

nocoolnamesleft · 10/07/2022 01:57

No way I'd get on a plane with d&v. Even if were not bothered about spreading it to everyone else, the thought of the experience of d&v in a plane toilet fills me with horror.

Lizbiz89 · 10/07/2022 02:38

It's definitely a bug. Been d&v all night. My son had it last week as well. I'm so upset. Meant to be up in an hour to get our flight and I'm so poorly 😫

No you can't fly, I'm so so sorry. What rotten timing.

It probably won't last long so you could fly on Monday maybe? How long is the flight?

Insurance will cover it assuming you have it.

Lizbiz89 · 10/07/2022 02:50

@INeedANewNameAgain unfortunately this flight only departs once s week from our airport and we were only going for 4 nights. We have insurance so will claim. Can't believe this happening right before my honeymoon 😢

sheusesmagazines · 10/07/2022 03:09

Personally if the flight was under 4 hours I would go, wear a mask and take some Immodium. By the time you get on the flight the worst will be over.

SNWannabe · 10/07/2022 04:31

@sheusesmagazines thats disgusting. You’d risk infecting everyone else on the plane just so you could have your holiday? Urgh selfish prick.

Nat6999 · 10/07/2022 05:15

Don't risk it, you should be able to claim on your insurance. I travelled back from Spain with ds & exh once & half the passengers on the plane had a stomach bug including exh. Only one of the toilets on the plain was working & there was a queue down the aisle of passengers with diarrhoea, several including exh didn't make the toilet, the cabin crew made a fortune in perfume. Speak to your rep or the reception in your hotel, they will be able to help, you may be able to get an injection to stop the sickness so you can get home or be able to stay until it clears up but you may have to isolate in your room.

DillonPanthersFNL · 10/07/2022 07:45

@Nat6999 ugh I've been on a flight where quite a few people had diarrhoea it honestly was horrendous

MoreRainbowsPlease · 10/07/2022 21:50

So sorry it is a bug. Hopefully you can either can the holiday refunded or postponed.

Hope you are feeling better now and that it was short lived.

Nat6999 · 11/07/2022 01:32

DillonPanthersFNL It was awful, the toilet had diarrhoea all up the walls, I felt sorry for whoever had to clean it up. The moment we had claimed our bags I handed him a set of clean clothes & sent him to the toilet with instructions to bin what he was wearing, the flight was the longest 3 house I have ever spent, I have never flown since & would never fly RyanAir again if my life depended on it.

DillonPanthersFNL · 11/07/2022 04:53

@Nat6999 that sounds horrific! The flight attendants opened the toilets in first class on mine (no one had booked any tickets for there) it was just awful, every now and then you'd just smell more shit.

I wanted to open the door and jump off tbh.

Bumblebee413 · 11/07/2022 04:57

I'm sorry OP. I got d&v whilst we were away on honeymoon and although I was already there, it was a rubbish way to spend part of what was such a special trip. Claim it on the insurance and go when you're both 100%- you'll be sad now but you'll never regret it x

AmIOverReacting20 · 11/07/2022 05:00

How long is the flight OP? I'd be leaving it right till the last minute to decide but if you're being sick/having diarrhea then it's not going to be possible. What terrible timing 😩

It happened to my friends - one of them recovered in time for the flight but the other was being sick so literally couldn't leave the hotel bathroom.

Hatsoff5 · 11/07/2022 05:02

Lol!!

I can't believe anyone is suggesting to go on a plane with D&V poor OP must feel really crap. I couldn't imagine being on a plane and using a tiny toilet with people outside and squeezing down the Isle to sit in your seat. Next minute you need to use the loo again but it's FULL.

Not a chance.

Penguinwaddles · 11/07/2022 05:08

Many flights won’t let you on if you are physically ill anyway!

It shocks me that some people on here would still fly with a stomach bug. No wonder they spread like wildfire!

Also, take it from me, Imodium doesn’t always work.

WonderingWanda · 11/07/2022 06:12

How disappointing for you op. I can't imagine anything worse than having d&v on a plane. I remember years ago in a Carribean airport on the way home a lady pushed through the very long toilet queue saying she was going to be sick. As she was going into the cubicle next to me she started vomiting and having diarrhea all over the floor in front of everyone. She was in such a state.

Roselilly36 · 11/07/2022 06:41

What a shame, I can’t think of anything worse than feeling like this on a plane, the queuing for the loo etc. Stay home and claim on your insurance.

Bertieboo82 · 11/07/2022 06:43

Out of interest

what does your husband think?

Were you coming back from Egypt by any chance? This happened to my friend. Fortunately she'd got her bug out of the way in the first part of the holiday.

DillonPanthersFNL · 11/07/2022 06:52

@Northernsoullover yes!! Never again!

coffeecupsandfairylights · 11/07/2022 06:54

I'm so shocked people are saying to go anyway - of course you can't fly with a stomach bug!

Imagine getting a few seconds warning that you need the toilet just as the plane is taking off and not making it on time 🤮
