Just finished work and saw the headlines! Wtf!!!!???

B0ssAssB1tch · 05/07/2022 19:35

I'm wondering why they've gone now after all the heinous shit that's come out about the tories over the last 2 years, this seems relatively small fry. Are they manoeuvring into position for the leadership?

Libertybear80 · 05/07/2022 19:36

They know he's poison.

Nidan2Sandan · 05/07/2022 19:37

After all the crazy, its mad that they have decided to leave over this. Not that I dont agree with them, but why now?

lovergirl90 · 05/07/2022 19:37

Nobody else will leave Boris is going to pull this back I can see it now

Swashbuckled · 05/07/2022 19:39

Bim Afolami too.

JimmyGrimble · 05/07/2022 19:39

Rats scuttling to leave a sinking ship.

hatchyu · 05/07/2022 19:40

I'm quite shocked. I'm intrigued by Rishi's resignation

Of course they are doing it to help themselves. Like they give a shit about all the utter crap thats gone on, the lying, partying in lockdown, the backtracking i could go on forever.
Those 2 are just more of the same self serving pond scum we have in government. Who the fuck cares what they all do, they know they can get away with whatever they want, the bastards.

Geranium1984 · 05/07/2022 19:41

Going in for the kill. The resignation letters read like a manifesto, particularly Sunak.

AquaticSewingMachine · 05/07/2022 19:42

The cabinet are revolting!

i always wanted to have a genuine reason to use that line

SAHMonMN · 05/07/2022 19:44

My bet is NZ and DR will be next to scuttle. We can but hope.

opening the champagne here...

hatchyu · 05/07/2022 19:46

letter about the state of the economy

emeraldcity2000 · 05/07/2022 19:46

Agree NZ - competent enough someone else might give him a job. Gove?
I think Raab, Patel, Dorris etc are pretty useless and won't get a job for anyone else

Rishi Rich is angling to be the next PM. Man of the people. 🤣🤣🤣

SmashingEgg · 05/07/2022 19:48

@Geranium1984 Strangely, a paragraph in their resignation letters read exactly the same word for word if you noticed.
Probably scribbled them together over a pint of Pimm's in the commons bar after lunch.

It's an interesting manoeuvre given that Boris is supposedly immune from another leadership challenge for a year. They're both ambitious so I presume they have a plan.

SmashingEgg · 05/07/2022 19:49

@AquaticSewingMachine 😂👍

The Con party are working to change the rules on that as we speak...

Mayorquimby2 · 05/07/2022 19:52

So funny, they're like Hugh in the thick of it, they missed the boat for resignation along time ago to get any credit for it.

brown543 · 05/07/2022 19:53

Without wishing to stick my head above the parapet, I've always voted Conservative. Boris did a job for six months but has been embarrassingly shocking since. It's the prevarication and lying that irritates me the most. And the lack of any moral standards across his cabinet.

I'd take Rishi as PM.

meditrina · 05/07/2022 20:01

This is what I just posted on one of the other threads (but I think it's relevant here too):

"When I heard about Javid, I thought he knew that the NHS/social care situation was about to spiral out of control and wanted out before the boot dropped. I've never rated him as being on top if the Health brief.
"Then Sunak too. Now he's been a huge spender, and perhaps knows when the money will run out again (public opinion on Ukraine leaves no option but to increase defence spending, unforeseen and expensive enough to wreck planning)
"So enlightened self interest here.
"They know that even if Boris survives this, what's coming down the line will be dreadful and they don't want to be associated with it (no matter how much their fingerprints are on the precursors, they're counting on the public having the memory of a goldfish). And they get the benefit of looking principled"

So anyone else who knows the scope of how much shit is about to hit the fan might follow suit. It's not about the immediate issue

1dayatatime · 05/07/2022 20:02

Overall I am really quite sad that Boris now seems unlikely to make it to the next election as he was / is outstandingly and by far the best electoral asset that the Labour Party and the LibDems

Javid has form for some integrity which seems to be in short supply at the moment. Out of the future Pm contenders I personally think he is the best of a bad bunch but sadly I don't think he will get selected.

Sunak jumped in shortly after Javid's resignation with his sights firmly set on being the next PM. But he lacks substance, vision and quite frankly is not up to the job. With his popularity entirely based on giving away money (I still can't forgive him for spaffing £600 million on eat out to help out). The same taxpayer's money splurge that we are now paying back in the form of higher taxes and higher inflation.

My friend has just text me to say 6 MP's have now just resigned. One on live tv! Trying to verify!
