Without wishing to stick my head above the parapet, I've always voted Conservative. Boris did a job for six months but has been embarrassingly shocking since. It's the prevarication and lying that irritates me the most. And the lack of any moral standards across his cabinet.

I'd take Rishi as PM.

Wasn't the first 6 months when he illegally disbanded Parliament and lied to the Head of State?

the80sweregreat · 05/07/2022 20:14

Oh I just wish they would just let him go now !
This will drag on and on now and it's all so toxic
and making the country weaker.

RogersOrganismicProcess · 05/07/2022 20:15

Bim Afolami just resigned live on air!

SmashingEgg · 05/07/2022 20:15

@Daisychainsandglitter Bloody hell, it's all going on. Boris will be dizzy.

@EverySockIsOdd Yes, the very same.

Larry for PM!

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 05/07/2022 20:21

Are they jumping before the Canadian hairdresser story hits the mainstream?

SmashingEgg · 05/07/2022 20:22

According to sky news, Beer Starmer has said that he will support a general election, stating that the conservative party is corrupt and the government is collapsing, adding that Boris Johnson is not fit to be prime minister.

But rich coming from him!

Both Michael Heseltine and Andrew Bridgen were on BBC News earlier and both of the opinion that the sitting Prime Minister is at the end of the line.

hellobeautifulsoul · 05/07/2022 20:23

Makes me wonder what they know that we don't. I can only imagine the corruption behind the scenes that some of them have to accept, until they cannot anymore

Mayorquimby2 · 05/07/2022 20:24

You have to feel sorry for the staff at Nadine's off licence tonight.

pantherrose · 05/07/2022 20:25

Biggest mistake Boris made was pissing off Dominic Cummings. All gone downhill for him since then, can't imagine why.....

hatchyu · 05/07/2022 20:26

But rich coming from him!

Is that a joke?

the80sweregreat · 05/07/2022 20:39

At least Sir Kier Starmer said he would resign if he received a fixed penalty notice for beer gate!
If he goes and Boris Johnson also leaves then we will be rudderless in parliament.

Agree NZ - competent enough someone else might give him a job. Gove?
I think Raab, Patel, Dorris etc are pretty useless and won't get a job for anyone else

Exactly this. It's obvious that someone will stay until the bitter end because they are useless and wouldn't get a job with anyone else in charge.

Why? What has he done that is remotely on the level of Johnson? False equivalence.

ODFOD.
Don't try and make this about Starmer, the two leaders are incomparable.
Starmer is a decent human being (as was Teresa May) but Boris is a complete disgrace. The British equivalent of Trump.

@CanaryShoulderedThorn

"Starmer is a decent human being (as was Teresa May) but Boris is a complete disgrace. The British equivalent of Trump"

++++

In defence of Boris, the British voters knowingly elected as Prime Minister a proven and established serial liar and chancer in the December 2019 election. And Boris has simply continued as that. It's a bit like buying a man eating tiger as a family pet despite being warned against it and then complaining when it eats your husband (Its not a woman eating tiger 😀).

It's not Boris fault it's the people that voted for him and then changed their mind that they didn't want a serial liar chancer as PM after all.

I agree. DC was unpopular but had a nose for politics and public opinion that Boris doesn't (I'm excluding the Barnard Castle stupidity).

nether · 05/07/2022 21:46

Nadhim Zahawi as Chancellor

That's scraping the barrel. He was useless as vaccines minister (came in after others had done the hard work for first roll out, then mistake after mistake esp for the most vulnerable)

the80sweregreat · 05/07/2022 22:01

Zahawi apparently tried to put his heated stables on expenses! Only redacted it because he was found out. Now his chancellor he can do it properly I suppose. His horses won't freeze over winter , unlike the rest of us.

SmashingEgg · 06/07/2022 09:20

@CanaryShoulderedThorn I was relaying what Starmer said about it all.
Not my words.
Relax.

You can drop the wide eyed faux innocence, it was clear what you were insinuating.

HappydaysArehere · 06/07/2022 09:36

Golly what has happened to Mumsnet? Can’t you see that the constant lies, incompetence and sleaze are the reason that Johnson is being distanced. What he is doing to this country’s reputation is unforgivable. Who will ever trust the UK again while he is in charge? Our big advantage on the world stage was that we were seen to be dependable and trustworthy - boring perhaps but respected. Shame on you all who see as only self seeking the departure of those who still expect integrity and honesty to be what we expect from our leader.

SmashingEgg · 06/07/2022 09:39

@CounsellorTroi They were his exact words.
No wide eyed faux innocence here.
I can't stand the bloke.

Not placing any bets on who is next, just hope there are more of them. Preferably so that not all ministerial posts can be filled.
