to go for a pedicure with smelly feet

Meeting a friend in 20 mins. She's just excitedly messaged to tell me she's booked us in for pedicures. Thing is, I'm in the office, wearing my usual All Birds wool runners and no socks, and I was only thinking this morning that they are starting to pong and need a wash. Even worse, this place does dry pedicures, so they just sanitise your feet with spray, no soaking or anything. I would LOVE a pedicure but feel bad for the poor technician. AIBU to go anyway?

I wouldn’t

AperolWhore · 05/07/2022 16:41

I would just say when you get there, I’ve been on my feet all day can I give them a wash before we get started and it won’t be an issue at all.

addler · 05/07/2022 16:42

Can you buy some wipes from somewhere on the way?

RJnomore1 · 05/07/2022 16:42

Can you go the toilet at the salon and give your feet a wash before they start?

Ducksinthebath · 05/07/2022 16:43

I wouldn't because I'd be too self-conscious. Maybe say you've got a bad blister so can't have anything done with your feet today?

ItsSnowJokes · 05/07/2022 16:44

Just wash them before you go!

I have some baby wipes, but my shoes are still smelly. 😬

Dry pedicure sounds a bit pointless. So they're just going to paint your toenails? I wouldn't bother, even with sweet smelling feet. But I prefer to do my own pedicures at home, with a proper soak and scrub.

endofthelinefinally · 05/07/2022 16:46

They will be very happy to let you go and wash your feet. Alcohol based hand cleanser will help if you can't access wipes or soap and water. Any salon is going to have all of those things though.

pilates · 05/07/2022 16:46

I wouldn’t go

TokyoTen · 05/07/2022 16:49

I think I'd go, but say "This is a bit of a surprise, please can I wash my feet first?" and they'll be fine with it.

Rosiestraws · 05/07/2022 16:50

I'm bemused as to why you're not wearing socks in those shoes...!

But nevertheless, I agree with not going if you can't wash your feet before...and that it's not much of a pedicure if they're not soaking them etc first... Also if you're not having gel pedicure then you're likely to ruin the nails anyway after you put the shoes back on? Unless you REALLY leave them to dry for well over 30 mins plus.. I only go for pedicures wearing sandals...

Wellthatsachangeforthebetter · 05/07/2022 16:51

I do pedicures honestly I wouldn't find it a problem at all, smelly justvwipe them with wipes when u get there.
Ask the intimate waxers smelly feet would be a blessed relief 😂

Megapint · 05/07/2022 16:52

If I could buy some flip flops & wash my feet before arriving I would go. If not I'd be giving it a swerve.

I never wear socks, I hate them.

OP, I think a dry pedicure sounds a bit grim tbh and what happens when you leave, if you're not wearing sandals won't you ruin your varnish?

coffeecupsandfairylights · 05/07/2022 16:54

I really wouldn't.

Won't wearing closed-toed shoes ruin your nail polish too?

AryaStarkWolf · 05/07/2022 16:57

I'd maybe opt for a manicure instead!

Cam22 · 05/07/2022 16:59

Why oh why would you not wash your feet daily? Or better still shower and bathe daily. To do anything other than those things is rank, frankly.

🤮

HintofVintagePink · 05/07/2022 16:59

Pop to the loo at your office first and wash your feet?
Why haven’t you tackled your smelly shoes issue before now? It can’t be pleasant when you take them off at the end of the day.

RJnomore1 · 05/07/2022 17:02

I think it’s the shoes that haven’t been washed not the feet 😂

@cam22 i think the op means she was aware that her shoes needed a wash and were pongy, not her feet. I'm sure she washes her feet regularly 😂

Too late now but I’d have popped to the supermarket and picked up some flip flops then washed my feet when I got to the salon, pop flip flops on and job done ✔️

Of course I was my feet daily. I had a shower this morning! But my feet have got sweaty since 6:30am, compounded by the fact I haven’t washed my shoes for a couple of weeks. 😂

I normally wash them before they get smelly. This morning I thought they needed a wash but I was running late so I thought they would do for one more day.
