to go for a pedicure with smelly feet

Meeting a friend in 20 mins. She's just excitedly messaged to tell me she's booked us in for pedicures. Thing is, I'm in the office, wearing my usual All Birds wool runners and no socks, and I was only thinking this morning that they are starting to pong and need a wash. Even worse, this place does dry pedicures, so they just sanitise your feet with spray, no soaking or anything. I would LOVE a pedicure but feel bad for the poor technician. AIBU to go anyway?

Anyway, I found a clean pair of socks in my backpack, so my freshly baby-wiped and besocked feet are waiting their turn at the salon. 😂

Just go to the toilet when you get there and wash them. It's not rocket science!

Maireas · 05/07/2022 17:33

I've never heard of a dry pedicure - are they worth it? To be honest, my favourite bit is the long, soothing soak in scented bubbles! Bliss.

waveyourpompoms · 05/07/2022 17:38

Baby wipes aren’t going to cut it. It’s not fair for you to put someone else through tending to your dirty, unwashed, smelly feet; it’s really grim.

You've put your own wants first and not thought about the poor person who unfortunately won’t have the confidence to tell you your behaviour is unacceptable and you should be ashamed to be so cheeky.

Surely you're going to have to put the smelly shoes back on?

I wouldn't because I'd be too self-conscious. Maybe say you've got a bad blister so can't have anything done with your feet today?

I would do this.

Quincythequince · 05/07/2022 17:42

Minging!
Just wash your feet woman.

Mouk · 05/07/2022 17:45

I'd pop into Primark and buy some cheap flip flops.

Then ask them can you wash your feet beforehand.

Whilst I certainly wouldn't want the job I'm sure the person doing the pedicure wants the work and payment. I'd weigh that up against pongy feet.

Georgyporky · 05/07/2022 17:54

Nothing wrong with a dry pedicure - I prefer it.
But, either way, surely you need flipflops afterwards?

RoaryMouth · 05/07/2022 17:57

But glad you freshened up first OP.

So it’s okay to go in with disgusting feet because they won’t say anything because they need the money and should be grateful of your custom? What kind of an attitude is that?

Do you apply such ridiculous sentiments to other professions too? Is it okay to donate dirty clothes to charity because they’re in desperate need? Is it ok to go into a struggling restaurant and be a dick because they need your custom?

Have some self respect, manners and thought for other people.

RoaryMouth · 05/07/2022 19:06

The OP does not have dirty, unwashed feet. She showered but has smelly shoes and has since freshened up before attending. She's not going in with filthy feet with scabby nails and warts etc. At least I don't think so. Bit dramatic eh?

MrsHarrison87 · 05/07/2022 19:08

Wash your feet.

billy1966 · 05/07/2022 19:09

Spray your shoes with an anti bacterial spray and then shake talc into the shoe, a good shake.

Allow to rest over night.
Shake out in the morning.

Great for sports shoes for my boys.

SaggyBlinders · 05/07/2022 21:03

Tea bags in your shoes help them smell fresh (unused ones, obviously 🤣)

doadeer · 05/07/2022 21:05

I wouldn't do this at all.

HedgehogintheFog · 06/07/2022 11:01

Update and answers for anyone still invested in my disgusting feet 😂

  1. I don't think my feet were disgusting. My shoes were definitely smelly though, so before I found the clean socks, any washing or wiping would have been negated by having to put my feet back in them. To emphasise - I do wash my feet (in fact my whole body) every day.

  2. I usually wash these shoes every 1-2 weeks in the washing machine. I probably need to make sure it is once a week in the summer. I might get a second pair of insoles too so I can wash these more regularly. I could try the teabag and talc tricks too.

  3. It was gel polish, so I didn't need sandals or flip flops for afterwards.

  4. I like a dry pedicure. They file nails, cut cuticles, dry file the dead skin off, sanitise with alcohol spray, paint nails, moisturise and massage feet and apply cuticle oil. It feels very hygienic.

  5. The pedicure was lovely. I squirrelled my smelly shoes into my backpack and it was only very slightly awkward at the end when the technician was looking for my shoes and I had to admit why I had hidden them.😂

Is anyone else googling "Allbirds Wool Runners"? Grin

Glad you got sorted anyway OP

Chemenger · 06/07/2022 11:34

Missing the point entirely - I've wanted Allbirds for ages, are they really fine to wash in the machine? And are they as comfortable as they say?

Yes and yes. I wear and wash mine all the time. Most comfortable shoes I own. I wash on cold, in a laundry bag, with handwash/delicates washing liquid.

Ewwww. At least you tried. I do Pedicures and don’t really want cheesy feet under my nose.

I do lovely Pedicures with a bubbly foot soak so that sorts most things out, don’t fancy a dry Pedicure. The foot soak is so relaxing.
