Would this be ok for a wedding guest, or too bride-y bridesmaid-y?

I probably won't buy it, as if I have to check, it means I'll still stress about it not being ok 🥴... But still interested in people's thoughts. Suitable for a wedding guest? This dress

I think this is fine. Looks nothing like a wedding dress, and I can't really picture someone putting their bridesmaids in it. So I think you should go for it

Mosaic123 · 04/07/2022 21:49

It's lovely and not bridesmaidy IMHO

cameocat · 04/07/2022 21:49

Lovely dress but too cream / white I think.

LetMeInYourWindow · 04/07/2022 21:50

No.
Too pale, too bridesmaid-y too casual Bride-ish.

AhNowTed · 04/07/2022 21:50

It's totally fine, and very nice.

Purplecatshopaholic · 04/07/2022 21:50

Totally fine

bridgetreilly · 04/07/2022 21:51

Completely fine imo, especially if you wear coloured shoes, bag etc.

RodiganReed · 04/07/2022 21:51

I can barely imagine a dress more suited to a wedding guest - it's perfect!

But brace yourself for the insufferable twats who will be along in a moment to point out its 100% polyester.

ChilliPB · 04/07/2022 21:51

I think it’s too much white/cream - I’d always err on the side of caution though for something like this! Not worth risking the bride feeling annoyed or you just feeling awkward.

DiamanteDelia · 04/07/2022 21:52

Too bridesmaidy for me.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 04/07/2022 21:52

I've never been to a wedding where the bride wore anything remotely like that. If you know the bride and think she'll likely be in a somewhat traditional dress then that dress will be absolutely lovely for a guest.

Ginandslippers · 04/07/2022 21:53

Too white/cream for a wedding

LBF2020 · 04/07/2022 21:53

I also think it would be fine if the bride is wearing a traditional big dress. However, if the bride is going for a more bohemian/relaxed look you might look at bit similar.
It's one day that I wouldn't wear white.

Darkstar4855 · 04/07/2022 21:54

I think if you wore it with coloured shoes/bag/wrap etc. it would be ok. I wouldn’t wear it accessorised with white/cream though.

Ponoka7 · 04/07/2022 21:54

It's actually pink isn't it? If that's your style then it's fine. It would be too casual for me to wear to a wedding. I'd wear that for a special summer day out/beer garden.

Cactuslockdown · 04/07/2022 21:54

It’s lovely but I’m not sure either… looks a bit bride/bridesmaid from the back maybe?

ApolloandDaphne · 04/07/2022 21:55

It is perfect for a wedding guest. Only on MN do people worry about the whiteness of a dress.

SeasonFinale · 04/07/2022 21:56

If you have bright coloured accessories it will be absolutely fine, coloured jacket or wrap.

I can't see a bride wearing it or bridesmaids. With coloured accessories it takes it away from being "too white"

Igmum · 04/07/2022 21:56

I think it's lovely. A nice bright scarf/jacket/shoes/bag and you're sorted xx

Helpyou · 04/07/2022 21:58

It's not about it not looking like a brides dress, it's the rule of not wearing white or cream. I wouldn't wear that to a wedding.

tigerbear · 04/07/2022 21:59

It’s the second time in 24 hours that I’ve seen this dress posted on MN - the first time was being recommended as an actual wedding dress.

Agree

DisforDarkChocolate · 04/07/2022 22:01

Damn, why didn't you post this before I bought shoes I couldn't really afford.

It's gorgeous and I'd wear it for some weddings provided I could add colour with accessories.

Timetheworldsaysicantafford · 04/07/2022 22:03

Thanks all - the bride will possibly go for something a little relaxed/different so I won't risk it, but might try and wangle an invite to some lovely summer party so that I could buy it 😂

It will be fine but I don't like it
