Help!!!! I've been scammed on Vinted, what can I do now???

I am so upset!!! I bought a perfume but obviously it was local pick up. I messaged the seller if she could send it to me as I probably won't be able to pick up. She said no problem she'll send it in the next day. She provided me a tracking number (on Thursday) and it's still says it's despatching to Royal mail. So the seller still not sent it. The 2 days window now is over and the user is blocked from the site. So I'm pretty sure she is scammed me. I contacted Vinted but I don't know if they'll do anything about it. I mean it's just so silly to give only 2 days and now I can't do anything to get my money back? It was £40 so I could've do something else with that... 😭😭😭😭😭 please help me? Who I need to write or call??? 😭😭😭

Pretty sure you just complain to Vinted, your money doesn't release to the buyer until you say you've received your item and are happy with it so it will be in holding for now.
If you have the chat available then there will be options in there to complain about the item or you could try and contact Vinted help and they'll be able to help you

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 04/07/2022 10:37

I use vinted. If you don't click to say it has arrived and all is OK you get an automatic refund anyway. The buyer doesn't get paid until you confirm you have the item
I once bought something and the seller was late posting. I got a refund. I just sent her the money

Usernamemommy · 04/07/2022 11:15

I didn't click on anything. However the purchase was on Thursday and even I didn't click after 2 days it went automatically completed. Says somewhere don't forget to click on I have an issue otherwise it will automatically go to everything was okay. Now I wrote several emails, I am waiting for the respond. I read if I don't say I have an issue they might won't refund me. It's just ridiciolus I think, so now I could scam people on vinted the same way and just get away with it??? I am so hopeless at the moment, I never had a situation like this. 😭

After the seller claimed it's been sent (on Thursday) she marked "delivered". I should've think it's a scam. 😭😭😭😭

It's not a scam though. You didn't say anything was wrong during the window dedicated to buyers protection.

Have you got the proof of postage? In which case claim from Royal Mail. Next time, only use the postage options that the seller has listed.

JustFrustrated · 04/07/2022 11:26

The instructions are clear on Vinted. You said yourself you didn't click "I have an issue".

Vinted is weighted in favour of the buyer typically, I'm still waiting to receive payment/goods back, after sending them a week ago, and knowing they were delivered to the pick up point.

I hope you get refunded, but you do need to follow the clear instructions in future.

Usernamemommy · 04/07/2022 11:30

Well I didn't click because nothing arrives in 2 days. I have a tracking number but it's says royal mail still need to receive. I guess they never will. Anyway looks like it it is what it is. Wonder how many people doing this and get away with it.

I thought there is no way it could be a scam but now that t

hoohaaar · 04/07/2022 11:34

I thought there was no way it could be a scam but now that you have explained then perhaps it is.

I have never ordered where the postage option was a local pick up. I didn't realise that they could say it had been delivered their end but I guess it makes sense that they can do that.

Have you got all of the messages to and from the seller? If you have, then I would screen shot the conversations and send those to Vinted because you have proof that the seller agreed to post by Royal Mail.
Hopefully they can refund you.

Usernamemommy · 04/07/2022 11:43

Yes I attached every conversation with the seller. I hope they can help me! 😭

I've found Vinted to be really helpful if you raise an issue.

LaFloristaCalista · 04/07/2022 14:34

I thought you couldn't send perfume via Royal Mail. The sign in my post office says that

You can if you attach a special post office label saying it's a liquid. I've sold perfume on ebay in the past.

Also [email protected]
He is head of publicity for Vinted .
I've been in contact with him-he is utterly complacent considering he is charged with looking after the reputation of Vinted

Alicedaisy888 · 29/07/2022 19:06

If he gets enough messages about how Vinted has been become a haven for scam sellers he will have to release a statement at some point and just basically do his job. I've just had enough of these companies treatung us with contempt. Why should we put up with it ?

Amelieco · 03/09/2022 16:35

What do you mean by her providing you with the tracking number? I ordered these shoes off of vinted on Tuesday and they say that they will be arriving on Monday but today (Saturday) on the app it told me it was delivered (all that was delivered to my door was a piece of cardboard wrapped in delivery paper) with all the details as if thats the only thing that was sent. Did i get scammed or should i wait till Monday?

Usernamemommy · 04/09/2022 08:58

@Amelieco I'd press on something is wrong ASAP! I'm sure you have been scammed. I got a fake royal mail label, the tracking still says the sender needs to drop off the parcel.. I never got anything but you have an evidencd that you never got the shoes what you meant to get. I don't think somebody would send you a piece of carboard then send you the shoes, dosen't make any sense. In my opinion it's a scam. If you pass the 2 day window you can't get a refund even though you have been scammed. Let me know what happened. X

from experience - The scammers know how to override the Vinted system …and somehow they communicate that the parcel was delivered & buyer happy … the buyer is not aware as the information does not show up in the dialogue & the scammer/criminal keeps the buyer hanging on & informing them that the parcel is on its way. It seems like the scammers hack Vinted and are stealing £1000’s per day/week.

there should be a criminal investigation

ThreeblackCats · 08/10/2022 17:35

Vinted will not release your payment to the seller until you click on the “everything was ok” button. You can’t be scammed in vinted unless you agree that the sale was ok. Report a problem. But remember it was posted Thursday, might not arrive for a few days.

BertaHoon · 08/10/2022 17:42

Has the RM strike started yet?

raffegiraffe · 09/10/2022 14:40

This just happened to me! So angry. She changed the delivery option to meet up after I had bought and said she'd post. She marked as delivered without me realising then the two day window went without me knowing. Had no idea I had only two days to respond.
If your seller changes to pick up then beware
OP did you get anywhere with vinted?

annabellame · 26/10/2022 13:41

Hi,
I had this happen to me recently, luckily I got a refund after complaining to vinted, just wondering did you ever receive anything as mine still says it is on its way to the RDC, so I am unsure if anything will actually come.

Howard5074 · 26/10/2022 14:21

I’m going through this now! Bought some Lego whilst on holiday that was extremely cheap so should have known better. The seller provided a tracking number and as there is a buyers protection I thought nothing of it. The seller told me there was a delay with getting to the post office and to be patient. Around the same time vinted told me I had 2 days to say if “everything was ok” I didn’t click the button because the seller had infact told me there would be a delay. The status has since changed to delivered. I have tried contacting vinted but just get an automated reply saying I won’t get a refund and fees have been released to the seller! The tracking has not been updated in 13 days. I spoke to the post office who informed me the tracking number was generated from an address in China and nothing is in their system. The seller has ghosted me also. I am so annoyed as this was an £80 gift for my daughter. Money is very tight and her birthday in next week. Any advice??

Howard5074 · 26/10/2022 14:25

This has happened to me with a Lego set I bought. The seller generated a tracking number from an address from China (my friend works for Royal Mail) but nothing is in the system. Ie the seller didn’t actually then take the parcel to the post office. The seller has ghosted me and vinted haven’t replied. Only an automated reply. How did you get your funds back in the end? I’m so upset
