Whilst I appreciate he's done a spot of filming over here and at the last count his daughter lived in Croydon but he's bloody everywhere at the moment. I thought he might have retreated after the jubilee oddness but there he was at F1 on my TV screen again.

He has a film out and another coming out. He is a big deal actor who knows about the publicity he generates. That's in the job. F1 likes celebrities and beautiful people. He was prob only on for a minute.

He’s probably always out and about but because his film is out at the moment he’s more visible and is doing a lot of self promotion.

What’s your point? An international celebrity being in the country and promoting events etc just by being here. What exactly is wrong with that?

In case you had missed it, the UK doesn’t have much going for it right now. Anything that promotes this country’s soft power helps the economy.

He just keeps cropping up. Yes Isabella did live in Croydon last I knew with her hubby. Parents didn't attend the wedding.

he’s promoting a major film. He is one of the last movie stars in the industry who can “open” a film just with his name being attached.

He is a Hollywood megastar, he is media friendly.

You say he should have “retreated” and he keeps “cropping up” like he’s a mole, or Japanese knotweed. What on Earth do you expect from your celebrities - a rationed set of appearances BUT not so many that they cross the classic British threshold of “oh, they’re too big for their boots now”?

I reckon his daughter could tell some stories. I can't imagine being the daughter of Tom Cruise and living in a 2-bed semi in Croydon with my husband and cat. Why would you. I'd have an assistant who's sole job was to turn my pillow to the cooler side when I slept.

Slightly off topic, but I watched the F1 meet and greet and by far the most annoying individual there was David Coulthard. His body language was way off, and Stormzy resorted to repeatedly punching his hand into his own fist when he would quite clearly have preferred to punch Coulthard for patronisingly laying his arm on him.
