Love Holidays wanting to charge me almost double after I have booked our holiday

Shallistayorshalligo · 02/07/2022 06:06

I wonder if any one doesn’t sleep at this early hour as I am typing this..
In May I have booked our August holiday for myself, my two kids and for my mom. It was £5.5 K for 10 days in Turkey.

Since then our situation has changed a bit, as I have opted to be a sponsor for Ukrainian refugee. Now a young girl who did run for her life is living with us and I have realized we need to take her with us. I was not sure I could manage it financially.
I am not a rich person, tbh.
But i thought I better contact Love Holidays to see how much they charge me to add our guest onto one of our rooms. They got back to me by email to say it is £700 extra for the flight and accommodation. It is still a lot of money for me, but I thought I can manage this. So yesterday I went on to my booking and have added her on to it.

So far I have paid £4.5K.
After I have added my refugee my booking says I still need to pay another £6 K! I fail to understand where this figure came from. I am worried sick and I did not sleep all night. Now is 6 am I am here, and I am wondering if any one ever been in similar situation? There is no any way to speak to Love Holidays but on line chat which is available at 9 am. I am having a massive panic attack and anxiety 😥

Make sure you've saved that email where it says 700 pounds extra, and be on your computer ready to chat at 9am, not much more you can do right now.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 02/07/2022 06:09

Are you sure the £6,000 isn't the total for everyone, not the amount for an additional person?

Finfintytint · 02/07/2022 06:14

If it’s not too late, cancel the additional person and go on holiday as planned.
she’ll have had plenty of time to settle in your home come August and will probably appreciate time on her own.
We have Ukrainian refugees staying with us and we still went on holiday for a week.

LoudingVoice · 02/07/2022 06:15

Just email them back where they’ve said it’s £700 and say there’s an error as it’s asking for a much higher figure when you go to confirm.

You’ve got the £700 confirmation so there’s no need to panic about it.

Shallistayorshalligo · 02/07/2022 06:21

to start off I thought that 6k is the final figure too. As it just did make sense. Until I saw 10k is total, 6k is remaining. I am so worried I even can’t breathe properly at the moment😞

Not much you can do about it until they open so go make yourself a tea or a coffee, have some toast, try to relax

But you have it in writing that it’s an extra £700?

Go back to them first thing and explain they’ve made a mistake - you have the quote, it’s an error on their behalf.

Shallistayorshalligo · 02/07/2022 06:26

And when I was adding her, it clearly stated £300 is for the hotel £400 for the flights. I don’t understand where it did go wrong.
Yes, I do keep an email from Love Holidays.
I even did not book a separate room for our guest, she is meant to stay with my daughters ( they are off a similar age and became friends). I just can’t understand how one additional guest can add 5k on to 5.5k holiday

OP posts:
cricketwidoww · 02/07/2022 06:27

That's got to be an error on their part

Avacadoandtoast · 02/07/2022 06:27

Don’t worry op - have you got the original email which confirms what you’ve paid already and what was originally due? Then along with your new email you should be able to get it sorted!

Shallistayorshalligo · 02/07/2022 06:28

Yes, thank you, not much can be done until the chat is opened.. it’s just timing now.. going to try coffee and carry on waiting

OP posts:
Shallistayorshalligo · 02/07/2022 06:30

@Avacadoandtoast yes, yes, I do have the email, still can’t relax though.. oh.. it’s just waiting now

OP posts:
Avacadoandtoast · 02/07/2022 06:47

Good luck - hopefully you will get it all sorted shortly

PAFMO · 02/07/2022 06:51

Is it something weird like a new invoice? Because adding the extra person (at 700) takes the total to about £6k, right? And now you've been told you need to pay in total £6k. So it looks like it's an invoice that's cancelled out the original £5k one without making it clear that £5k of that £6k is already paid?

Good luck and try not to worry.

Rosehugger · 02/07/2022 06:51

The best thing is to phone them. It won't be 6k for an extra person if the entire holiday cost 5k for 4 people. Either they've made a mistake, or you have when you booked originally, but Inthink you'd have noticed the larger final total before now if that were the case.

Regenbogen22 · 02/07/2022 11:01

@Shallistayorshalligo and, OP, what happened?

Shallistayorshalligo · 02/07/2022 12:22

@Regenbogen22 not much, on line chat was useless, have been told need to speak to their amendments dept on Monday, and this is exhausting 😓 so far my booking price break down doesn’t make sense. Even if to put all the figures together, it won’t come up to £10k I guess I just have to suffer at least till Monday and it does make me ill

So worrying for you. Out of interest what happens if you recost the holiday for all of you with todays prices? Surely it wouldn't be 10k?

It's alvery strange and so frustrating that you've got to wait until Monday.

NoSquirrels · 02/07/2022 13:13

It’s a clear error glitch, according to that screenshot. Please don’t fret or make yourself ill!

ChagSameachDoreen · 02/07/2022 13:14

You honestly need to calm down.

You're not obliged to pay this.

I'm not sure why you're working yourself up into such a state.

calmandcaffinated · 02/07/2022 13:23

I recently had a holiday with love holidays and they were very helpful over the phone. Before Monday, go back through your emails where any details of costs and amounts you owe are stated. You should get an update every time you pay off an amount. Put this together and calculate what you still owe. I expect they have charged you again for the holiday (so 2 adults 2 children originally and then 3 adults 2 children when you added the extra person). It's their error as they booked twice for the same period.

Shallistayorshalligo · 03/07/2022 20:46

Dear ladies, thank you very much for your support. I had a call from love holidays this morning and I am so happy to say all has been sorted. The error was on their side and they have admitted it and re calculated, it’s all good. Shame, that my weekend was ruined by this and I could not sleep much, but it’s all sorted and we will be able to take our Ukrainian girl with us to Turkey. She has been through a lot and I am glad we are able to do this for her

Scianel · 03/07/2022 20:51

I'm glad you got it sorted OP. I'd have been really stressed out as well. I hope all of you have a lovely holiday.

Anyone else think the use of the phrase "my refugee" is a very odd turn of phrase?

Yes indeed. Also the wording “Shame, that my weekend was ruined by this and I could not sleep much”.
