Love Holidays wanting to charge me almost double after I have booked our holiday

I wonder if any one doesn’t sleep at this early hour as I am typing this..
In May I have booked our August holiday for myself, my two kids and for my mom. It was £5.5 K for 10 days in Turkey.

Since then our situation has changed a bit, as I have opted to be a sponsor for Ukrainian refugee. Now a young girl who did run for her life is living with us and I have realized we need to take her with us. I was not sure I could manage it financially.
I am not a rich person, tbh.
But i thought I better contact Love Holidays to see how much they charge me to add our guest onto one of our rooms. They got back to me by email to say it is £700 extra for the flight and accommodation. It is still a lot of money for me, but I thought I can manage this. So yesterday I went on to my booking and have added her on to it.

So far I have paid £4.5K.
After I have added my refugee my booking says I still need to pay another £6 K! I fail to understand where this figure came from. I am worried sick and I did not sleep all night. Now is 6 am I am here, and I am wondering if any one ever been in similar situation? There is no any way to speak to Love Holidays but on line chat which is available at 9 am. I am having a massive panic attack and anxiety 😥

Yes indeed. Also the wording “Shame, that my weekend was ruined by this and I could not sleep much”.

very odd

It's fairly clear the OP isn't a native speaker of English.

Hunderland · 03/07/2022 21:35

Glad it was sorted op, I would been stressing too!

Meraas · 03/07/2022 21:36

After I have added my refugee

but it’s all sorted and we will be able to take our Ukrainian girl with us

I really hope there is no ‘Ukrainian girl’. So condescending.

How? She speaks colloquially, I’d say she’s native.

@ThirtyThreeTrees forgive me, ladies, I am foreign in this country, living here for 20 years now, but still can make language mistakes. This was not meant to offend any one.

I hope you all have a lovely holiday OP despite the snippiness of some posters here. Your choice of words was fine!

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/07/2022 21:56

No offense meant, given or taken except by the pp who comes across a bit of a twat. I'm glad it got sorted out for you and I hope you all have a lovely holiday.

Oh give over!
OP is clearly a non native - though very good - English speaker.
It sounds like OP has young adult children and the Ukrainian woman is a similar age. If they (her children and her guest) are around 20, it would be quite normal to casually speak of her as a girl, and not condescending at all.

ThirtyThreeTrees · 03/07/2022 22:01

@Shallistayorshalligo Apologies, I probably should have consider that before I posted. It's just non a standard expression.

@L1ttledrummergirl No real need to the insult. You need exactly what I mean & I have apologized that I got it wrong.

Shallistayorshalligo · 03/07/2022 22:02

Thank you, @Bolsa and @L1ttledrummergirl 😊

@Testina You are absolutely right! My kids of a similar age and they have befriended our guest from Kiev. I tell you more. I am native Russian and I felt so strong after Russia attacked Ukraine. I felt anger, rage, shock.. I felt I had to do something, that’s why our family opted to host refugee.

I am sure your guest will be happy with your lovely welcoming family! I work with several Russian colleagues in Moscow and Novosibirsk and all are horrified by this invasion.

Shallistayorshalligo · 03/07/2022 22:15

@ThirtyThreeTrees No worries, After 20 years I still manage to get myself into these awkward language situations))

I had this happen with a holiday with them last year. I made a change, and all of a sudden the payment schedule said I owed a lot more than I'd been quoted. Spoke to them and they said it would update to the correct amount after 24 hours...and it did. I was charged exactly what I'd been quoted.

I'm still not sure why you got so worked up about what was clearly an admin error on the company's part.

whenwillthemadnessend · 03/07/2022 22:22

@Shallistayorshalligo

I thought all your posts have been fine. Their problem not yours. Enjoy your holiday.

Oh pack it in you've said more than once. People can get frustrated and anxious over different things.

Wouldn't you if you thought you'd perhaps misunderstood the cost and it might possibly be double what you had originally understood?

listsandbudgets · 04/07/2022 06:34

OP we have refugees staying and refer to them as " Our guests" if that helps. You are at an advantage speaking Russian as so many Ukrainians do. We have many very strange conversations via Google translate and we are not the only ones. One of them came home from work laughing the other day as they'd tried to tell her about a pay increase and the translator app they used had somehow told her she'd be paid "an extra 50 babies an hour "

Hi I am just wondering how you got around resolving this as this happened to me and my friend last night but we didn’t add anyone on the booking but the holiday we picked and paid the deposit for the price on the confirmation email was different when we got our booking confirmation the price of the flights was doubled even though we have the receipt of Ryan air explaining how much are flights our which is the correct amount but I don’t have no where near the money they are asking for on love holiday which is double when no flight to where we are going cost that much I really don’t know what to do and I am so confused as their is no way in contacting love holidays.
