Why are you being so eggy?

AIBU to hate this term? Whenever I'm angry at something DH says this (eggy meaning on my period). He seems to think the only excuse for being angry or stressed is that I am on my period. It is so condescending.

He doesn't sound intelligent enough to use an ovulation-based insult because he clearly doesn't understand human emotion.

what a horrid assumption to make.

@bozna , I think OP's DH left primary school some time ago. That's the issue.

girlmom21 · 15/06/2022 06:47

@Gusfringrules he constantly uses his wife's reproductive system in his insults and I'm the horrible one Grin

Nietzschethehiker · 15/06/2022 06:47

Does it really matter if anyone else agrees with what the term means ? Clearly the op knows the way her dh means it . Fgs sometimes MN delights in being obtuse because somehow people think it makes them look superior. What a ridiculous belief.

I wouldn't accept this op , I fully admit this would elicit a strong reaction.

Not to mention is he really so puerile he enjoys and embraces being annoying ? He's a man child and honestly any attraction would dissappear quick.

Used to say this at primary school, SE England. Everyone would shout "Eggy eggy eggy! Oi oi oi!"? when a scuffle kicked off in the playground. I can't see how it would be related to periods in that context?

(Honestly, it was a nice village school. Home counties)

It was always "Oggy" up here!

DH also says eggy, and for him it means irritable, argumentative. He's from the Midlands. I've asked him repeatedly to use a different word as I find it so annoying! But then I'm being eggy apparently. Nothing to do with my menstrual cycle though.

My friends and I used to say that about 30 years ago... I never realised what it meant. YANBU

It isn’t what it means. 40 years ago it was said to boys as much as girls

Me and my sisters call eachother eggy if we're being moody, again I have never though of it being related to periods.

If he's just being annoying for the sake of it, ask him why he's being so childish.
