Sorry am posting here for traffic !

whilr enjoying a bag of popcorn last night I got skin of popcorn kernel stuck in my throat 🥴

ive tried drinking fluids , gargling fizzy drink , clearing throat . Nothing is working and I’ve a sore throat now from intense coughing trying to clear it

I googled and have frightened myself with stories of throat closing over 🤭

anyone have any tried and tested remedies to get the feckin thing out ?!!!
please help !!

Still there, have tried everything mentioned apart from oat cakes as I have none
it’s driving me insane

I think if an antigen test somewhere , will get the stick from that to see if I can somehow remove it 😬

How far down your throat do you think it is?!!

BaaCake · 14/06/2022 19:09

I'm just worried you'll end up with a covid test stick down your throat too!

WallaceinAnderland · 14/06/2022 19:11

I know an old lady that swallowed a popcorn kernel...

😂

And this is why I don't eat popcorn!

Happened to me with a hayfever tablet on holiday once, I could feel it burning my oesophagus, one of the tiny ones. A shot load of water and wine eroded it

Givemeallthegin8 · 14/06/2022 20:00

@BaaCake 🤣🤣🤣that would be all I need 🤣

Antigen didn’t work, am going to stop at it for a while and see does it manage to shift itself!

Are you sure it's still there and you're not just feeling the scratch on your throat that it's left on it's way down?

skybluee · 14/06/2022 20:09

A baguette would be the best thing to catch it.

skybluee · 14/06/2022 20:10

Like a French stick. And don't chew it a lot.

MissMaple82 · 14/06/2022 20:11

Dry bread

Onlyhuman123 · 14/06/2022 20:36

I had similar issue and a couple of big marshmallows dislodged it...give it a try!

CottonSock · 14/06/2022 20:41

Can you see it? I got a prawn tentacle out myself with tweezers once. You would think it would make me chew more carefully but I did it again with a mackerel bone about a year later. I could see that also and it was removed in minor injuries. I didn't have tweezers as on holiday.

doodlyfiddly · 14/06/2022 20:48

The same thing happened to me. Twice! That's why I don't eat popcorn any more.
The second time, it dislodged itself.
The first time, I was just trying to ignore it (which was hard as it's really scratchy), bent over and it dislodged. Perhaps try a few manoeuvres?

Justkeeppedaling · 14/06/2022 20:49

I bet you've scratched your throat and it feels like something is stuck there.
Eventually your digestive juices will
soften and dissolve the object, but if you really can't bear it, go to A&E.
it's not exactly life threatening though, so be prepared for a long wait.

Dahlly · 14/06/2022 20:51

Milk or yoghurt. Will help soothe the throat too and hopefully help to dislodge

Hahaha

Have you tried eating more popcorn op?

Cheerybigbottom · 14/06/2022 21:11

It may be fine already but the sensation is still there due to a scratch or irritation. Something similar happened to me and I tried bread, fizzy drinks

Really chewy bread is best, and honestly, it will be fine, it will go. I can't believe the state I got myself into when this happened to me. Actually I can cos I've done it twice.

Seraphinesupport · 14/06/2022 21:27

I got this with a different food thing sort of the same. I made myself puke using my fingers .. it came up.

BearFacedCheekGrylls · 14/06/2022 21:34

My gran said when she had a fish bone stuck in her throat the hospital gave her a cotton wool sandwich to eat.

ZealAndArdour · 14/06/2022 21:38

Have you tried something fizzy?

Givemeallthegin8 · 14/06/2022 21:40

Thanks for all the suggestions- sorry but am glad it’s happened to other people too and it eventually came out!

Have tried the food suggestions - a right pain as am currently doing slimming world , which is why I was eating the popcorn as a low calorie “treat “🥴

Have also thought about eating more popcorn as a pp suggested ?

I got my 4 year old to look down my throat but she was just horrified at my fillings , dh gone out but will get him to check when he gets back

Also tried different positions like throwing my head back while drinking . The blasted thing just won’t go

Butter? Something to lubricate it

ZarquonsSandals · 14/06/2022 22:09

I had something similar last year with a bit of dried sage. It got stuck at the back of my soft palate and whilst it would happily wriggle around there, it just would not go. I tried all the things you've tried, and nearly made myself sick several times. Was going to book up to go to minor injuries but on day three I had a bout of hayfever, sneezed hard and it dislodged.

LucyAutumn · 14/06/2022 22:26

Dry toast?

PicklePastry · 14/06/2022 22:27

Peanut butter and dense white bread or even just peanut butter (a lot, sorry about your diet) followed by cup after cup of tea. You can also get a numbing throat spray which should help if it's scratched. I had this once, I know it's infuriating but please don't poke at it.
