HeArInGhandsgirl11 · 13/06/2022 18:32

Mother in law unwell- we go on holiday Friday as a family. Should she test, sore throat, temperature and headache are her symptoms.

What would you do?

What's her testing got to do with the holiday sorry?

Either she wants to know if it's covid or she doesn't.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 13/06/2022 18:34

Yes of course she should test!

PaddingtonBearStareAgain · 13/06/2022 18:35

Of course she should test.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 13/06/2022 18:35

Of course she should test. If she's positive then no holiday for her.

Sorry, but I isolated for the whole bloody Jubilee weekend as I was positive.

Read Government guidelines.

HeArInGhandsgirl11 · 13/06/2022 18:35

She is fighting with herself should she test/ not test.

I don't know what advice to give her

OP posts:
Mulberry974 · 13/06/2022 18:36

Of course she should. Not sure why anyone thinks it's okay to spread covid around these days.

SunnyShiner · 13/06/2022 18:36

Advise her to take a test.

Ponoka7 · 13/06/2022 18:36

We all just had a similar virus, we all tested. I think it's a bit selfish not to. We were all negative. What are the details of the holiday, flying? Etc.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 13/06/2022 18:39

Well, she could give it to all of you.

She may be denied entry to the country of your holiday.

Or if she infects you all while you're there, you will not be allowed out and have to fork out for your own quarantine.

Pretty simple decision really. She needs to take a test.

As far as I'm aware of you are fully vaccinated you do t have to test, but morally we think she should.

True, I think deep down we know she should test but I just needed to hear it

Of course she should. She is seriously going to get on a plane having not done so.

Where are you going on holiday? Different countries have different guidelines/regulations.

Those symptoms don’t automatically mean it’s covid though.

I’d test to be on the safe side, then decide from there.

I'm hoping it's just a virus. I'm with her a lot so the chances are whatever it is I have it

Everyone at work who has had COVID recently has had those syntpmms.
Headache and sore throat especially.

The test will depend on viral load to show up. Everyone tests one day and they are negative and then + the next.

Turkey... yes we are hoping it's just a normal cold. FIL has the attitude you don't have to test so don't. MIL feels very differently

My boss at work has similar symptoms and tested positive 🫣

Assuming she started with symptoms yesterday, I wouldn't bother testing for the holiday. Day five would be Friday so I'd be tempted to go even if it's positive, as it's not illegal and would be clear to go even by the guidelines the next day.

Turkey's not one of the countries that does random screening of arrivals is it?

Not that I'm aware no, that's why she is having the battle. She thinks it's the right thing to by testing but FIL thinks that life is back to normal and the rules say you don't have to test if fully vaccinated

Will her insurance cover her or fil for medical treatment for Covid?

QuidditchThroughtheAges · 13/06/2022 18:59

Ah yes the moral dilemma of whether or not to infect an entire plane load of people about to have a holiday.

Yep. Lets hope there's no one that could get seriously ill on there.
