have done the whole 'slowly savour a single square of excellent dark chocolate' for years. Bollocks. What I really love is super-sweet crap milk chocolate, the cheaper the better. Latest find: my supermarket is marketing bags of mini knockoffs of famous brands - cheap snickers, mars, bounties, milky ways etc. Absolute fucking bliss. Admit: you do too.

AIBU: only single-estate fair-trade dark chocolate is worth the candle

AINBU: bring all the sweet crap here, baby

Don’t personally like those but unpopular opinion is I do like Cadbury’s and don’t think it taste different 😬

SlashBeef · 07/06/2022 21:41

I really really like Cadburys chocolate. People say it's cheap and nasty and not as good as it was but I love it.

HailAdrian · 07/06/2022 21:42

I certainly don't dislike them but I love good chocolate too, I just really love chocolate full stop. I wish I could eat loads without getting fat.

DarkDarkNight · 07/06/2022 21:46

I do appreciate nice chocolate, but nothing satisfies a craving like Cadbury Dairy Milk. It’s got to be the proper Dairy Milk though, none of the cheap stuff they try to sneak in.

I can’t get away with the chocolate you like though, like Aldi copies of Mars Bars or Milky Way, it’s too sweet and sugary. I’m not keen on Nestle or Galaxy (bar the odd Ripple), it needs to be creamy where something like the chocolate on Malteasers is too plain.

DahliaMacNamara · 07/06/2022 21:48

They're different things. I have both in my house. Eye-wateringly expensive treat chocolates, just a few, that I eat one at a time and truly savour. And Aldi and Morrisons multipacks of fake Mars Bars and Snickers if I want something sweet to stuff down my neck.
Either way, I can't eat loads of chocolate in one sitting, honestly. So it seems unfair that I'm such a fat fucker. But there it is.

Me too. I think Cadbury's tastes the same as it ever did and most people claiming otherwise are just jumping on the bandwagon!

SunflowerGardens · 07/06/2022 21:49

I don't like really cheap and nasty stuff ie Kinnertons but I do love Cadbury's, galaxy ripples and bounties, and Thornton's alpinis.

Sciurus83 · 07/06/2022 21:52

I like to dip whole strips of Galaxy in a cup of tea till they're melty then eat them. I eat a whole big bar like this it's brilliant.

TigerCrumpet · 07/06/2022 21:53

I really like cheap and nasty white chocolate, the stuff they make white mice out of.

wibblewobbleball · 07/06/2022 21:53

@Sciurus83 me tooooo!! Galaxy is my fav.

hangrylady · 07/06/2022 21:53

You're not wrong. I'm not a massive chocolate lover but when the urge strikes, get me a Cadbury Caramel!

humancalculator · 07/06/2022 21:56

Glad people are being honest. I suppose that we are actually dealing with two separate things: dark savoury chocolate, all slow sophisticated delight, and instant sugar pleasure hit.

Flangeosaurus · 07/06/2022 21:56

Aldi knock off milky ways are an absolute delight, as are any and all white chocolate buttons

TigerCrumpet yes! I used to hate white chocolate on principle, but now I know it reliably delivers the highest sugar ratio. So fantastic.

Love cheap chocolate. If I'm feeling really cheap it's Tesco value chocolate (think it's miss Molly) 30p a bar 😃

urrrgh46 · 07/06/2022 21:58

And especially the white!

humancalculator · 07/06/2022 22:00

My husband has understood, but not quite. Recently he bought me a packet of After Eights (so cheaptastic!! love them!!) but didn't quite understand that even I have limits, and After Eights can only be eaten around Christmas. A bit like oysters: the month definitely needs to have an 'r'.

I don't like Cadbury's but I do like cheap milk chocolate like Kinnertons, I also like the expensive type though!

Glad someone else finally said it. I've considered starting a thread about it. 😂
Maybe my tastebuds have atrophied but Cadbury tastes the same to me as it always did. And frankly, so does Quality Street.

I HAVE FOUND MY PEOPLE

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 07/06/2022 22:25

I love plain Cadbury's chocolate. The Aldi choceur milk chocolate is also nice too

eh there is only 1 dairy milk-are you suggesting counterfeits are in circulation?

i love Cadburys but the Roses selection aren't as nice as they were in the 90s.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 07/06/2022 22:34

And what's all this nonsense about Creme eggs tasting awful nowadays?
I didn't get any this Easter and I was MOST disappointed

dudsville · 07/06/2022 22:37

A friend of mine calls it dirty chocolate! I don't use the language, but i think i get it, that her chocolate of choice is not refined.
