To think I have so much weight to lose 😩

Just weighed myself and feel so down about it. I need to lose 3 stone to get back to a weight that looks good on me. 4 stone to be as slim as I was in my twenties (I’m 36 now) just feel totally crap and like that will take forever.

anyone else feel like this?

Yes
same amounts here
i can only try!

OgdensGoneNutFlake · 04/06/2022 20:29

It's doable- I've lost 2.5st in 6 months just by chipping away- it doesn't have to be a sprint- just a little each week and you'll get there.

Fri1256 · 04/06/2022 20:30

Oh awesome, I’ve just checked my BMI and I’m actually considered obese now 😳

oh I get you. As above just chip away at it. Make sustainable changes. 1lb a week is still a success in the long run. I have half a stone left to go to feel comfortable with my weight.

FourEyesGood · 04/06/2022 20:49

You can do it! All those clichés, such as ‘the longest journey begins with a single step’ are true: it will take a long time, but it IS possible. And you’re still so young - start now, because it’ll only get way more difficult as you get older (sorry, but I’m speaking from experience!).

Bu2014 · 04/06/2022 21:06

Me.

NwNmOldFace · 04/06/2022 21:15

Hi OP, you can do this! I have about ten to lose so you definitely can! Have a thread in weight loss chat if you want to join for some extra moral support you'd be very welcome :)

MelonsMelonsMelons · 04/06/2022 21:33

If it helps, I found just taking a week at a time helped me. Kept my mind off my overall target and I just concentrated on losing a bit each week, heading in the right direction.

For info, I was about 9 stones over my ideal weight when I started. I’ve lost just short of 4 stones since September in a sustainable way based on a diet that doesn’t leave me hungry and exercise.

Basilbrushgotfat · 04/06/2022 21:38

Me too, op!

Similar age to you, I've spent all year shifting the first 6lbs. Bloody depressing.

October2020 · 04/06/2022 21:41

Me too, now obese. I've lost 2kg in 10days by using myfitnesspal and going swimming 4x a week. Small steps.

MountainClimber22 · 04/06/2022 21:46

Yep same here. I keep starting to eat right and exercise and then failing. Got a Chinese tonight for example. I think we need to stop putting so much pressure on ourselves. I will get there, slowly but surely. So will you. I mean, sure I want to be thin but I want to be happy too. And that's my problem right there because food makes me happy. Such a hard mind frame to break. I'll be going on my bike tonight to burn off some chinese!

MountainClimber22 · 04/06/2022 21:47

Tomorrow even 🤣

LouLou198 · 04/06/2022 21:50

Same here! I plan to start Monday once all the M&S jubilee shortbread has gone! I plan on doing slim fast for a couple of weeks to hopefully kick start it. We can do this!!!

Dinoteeth · 04/06/2022 21:51

Me Op, I changed my goal to loosing half a stone, 3/4 stone seems unachievable. I'm trying to reduce the snacks and I've just joined the gym.

I've lost 3lb by being careful with diet. Cutting out the junk over about a month. I'm feeling more energetic after just a couple of weeks at the gym. I'm also trying to reframe housework as 'exercise' which means the house is looking a bit better too.

Waffledoggysmother · 04/06/2022 21:51

I feel your pain. I’m exactly the same. I plan to make a start after my hols.

Paythosebitchesnomind269 · 04/06/2022 21:53

I am following Chris James 100 pounds in 90 days it is bloody hard but best results

Ugh 46, need to lose 3 stone to get to reasonable height/weight ratio. Dont eat a lot, metabolism slowed waay down, it seems impossible, but I have to for my health, any tips much appreciated

TeaAndBiscuitsAndWine · 04/06/2022 23:00

I’m late 40s and had roughly the same amount as you to lose. 3 years ago I started to watch what I eat (not calorie counting as I’ve tried it in the past and got obsessive), just focussing on eating healthily and portion control (I struggle with both). Also started doing some weights and a bit of cardio. I’ve lost a little over 2 stone in that time, another 2 to go, but the key has been it doesn’t feel like being in a diet. Good luck!

GNfan · 04/06/2022 23:02

I know Slimming World gets a lot of stick, but I felt like you in January and had really painful knees too, so joined Slimming World. I felt really embarrassed about it, but stuck with the plan, and have lost a stone and a half in three months. I also started swimming and now swim three times a week. If you or your mind to it, you can lose the weight, just do it slowly.

How have you achieved it?

BankruptByBalayage · 04/06/2022 23:14

I'm 37 and have a 12 week old baby. I'm currently 3.5st heavier than I was pre-pregnancy (and I was already half a stone heavier than I wanted to be back then). Determined to shift 4st ASAP. I'm giving myself until baby's first birthday to do this. I've ordered a 2 week meal replacement plan which is due to arrive tomorrow. Hopefully that'll kickstart my weight loss and motivate me to keep going by making better choices re food.

Dinoteeth · 04/06/2022 23:30

@BankruptByBalayage go easy on yourself. You have a 12 week old baby. Who's probably still getting up in the night. You took 9 months to gain that weight don't expect to loose it in 6 and the other demands on your body and mind.

I'm a similar age and have 3 stone to lose too. I need a kick up the bum to start me off!
