Just weighed myself and feel so down about it. I need to lose 3 stone to get back to a weight that looks good on me. 4 stone to be as slim as I was in my twenties (I’m 36 now) just feel totally crap and like that will take forever.

anyone else feel like this?

I was the same, just over 3 stone to lose. Bmi classed as obese.
In the past two years I have tried, mfp and calorie counting, slimming world, the Cambridge diet- I couldn't stick to any.

I've been on saxenda 4 weeks and lost 1 stone, definitely the kick start I needed. Makes me feel full, if I don't make the right choices e.g choose biscuits instead of a high protein portioned meal- I feel it.
So hopefully in the long term it will help me make healthier choices

mellongoose · 05/06/2022 08:06

I'm 2-3 stone heavier than I should be and 46. I did C25K earlier this year and am now training for the London marathon. I am not a runner!

It's coming off slowly. From this month alcohol will be for special occasions only (hard) so that it doesn't get in the way of morning runs. This loop is starting to work. Slowly.

I do feel fitter and stronger though!

Bu2014 · 05/06/2022 08:11

Hi thanks for starting this thread. I'll weigh myself tomorrow but I'm pretty sure it will show I'm between 2.5-3 stone overweight.
Going to try and put together a plan of some sort today.
Lets do this!

MsTSwift · 05/06/2022 08:16

Quite evangelical about intermittent fasting. Found it an easier way to cut back on food whilst still being able to have things I like, Lost the 2 stone I needed to lose and pretty much kept it off.

LouisaMayAlcott · 05/06/2022 08:27

I'm 61 and was exactly where you are last April. I've lost 3 stone 3lbs since then but literally only a lb a week and sometimes not even that. I had to reach the point where wanting to be a healthy weight (and yes, I admit it, a, size 12) was more important to me than something nice but fattening to eat. I still want to lose another 4lbs but I'm finally at a healthy weight.

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 05/06/2022 08:35

It's all such a struggle

I'm taking saxenda....weight loss injections via a private prescription. A great start with over 2 stone gone now since end of March but everything, literally everything, revolves around food!

picklemewalnuts · 05/06/2022 08:37

Ok, but that's not so bad. I lost almost 6 stone last year. I'm 52, underactive thyroid and fibromyalgia.

The thing that makes a difference is the competing calls on your attention. If you can make this no 1 priority, then you can do it.

Even a stone will make a huge difference!

roastedsaltedpeanut · 05/06/2022 08:48

How much do you weigh? 3 stones (19kg) is a huge amount to shed and will require drastic change of life style and habits. You will need a brand new life and at least three years to lose the weight healthily. Healthily meaning losing weight while not sacrificing anything else (mood, sleep, work, socials etc).

Can you identify how you put the weight on? Can these new habits be changed realistically? If so how will you implement the changes?

Lots of people I know have gained weight due to the stress eating.boredom eating and lack of exercise and mental stimulation through lockdown. Don’t be too hard on yourself. I have always been okay with my weight but even I gained two kilograms!

Many had success with intermittent fasting starting with skipping one meal. Common mistake is to overcompensate because of the skipped meal.

MsTSwift · 05/06/2022 09:27

I lost 2 stone in 4 months

Gemi33 · 05/06/2022 09:32

I feel exactly the same OP! I am so sick of hating the way I look and really want to lose weight but don't know where to start - I feel like I have tried just about every diet going over the years so I just feel a bit lost. I feel like I need clear 'rules', just trying to be healthy doesn't work for me.

DolphinaPD · 05/06/2022 09:34

I've lost 13.9lbs, so a stone pretty much, in 3 weeks. I'm 41 next week.

I'm doing exante, an 8 hour eating window, except the days I exercise, on those days I have 200 calories (182g) of chicken breast before my bootcamp class. Drink 4l water a day.

I've still got just over 3st to go, but like fuck will I take 3 years to do it, ain't nobody got time for that 😂

Oh awesome, I’ve just checked my BMI and I’m actually considered obese now 😳

This might actually help as it gives even more motivation to lose the weight, not just for aesthetics but for health, you'll feel so much better when you lose the weight. I got a great PT who helped me and now I go down the gym so often with the programme he gave me. It's really great. I look so much better but you know what? The energy, just feeling happier and more like me, better digestion, better skin, so many things. You do have to chip away like other posters said but chip away for a few months and you will meet all your goals and feel great.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 05/06/2022 12:31

Yes! I lost 3 stone about 8 years ago but have put a lot back on. Need to lose 2 to feel good and could do with a third really.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 05/06/2022 12:34

Sorry pressed post too soon. I've started going to the gym and lost a few pounds but then weighed myself on their machine and although my muscle mass has gone up I'm also classed as obese which completely demoralised me. Talking to people though it seems obese is more common than you think and after I had to go to primark over the weekend (was I. London and was hotter than I thought it would be) and finding a top and skirt that fit me I'm feeling more motivated.

NatM15588 · 05/06/2022 12:51

Dont think about it as alot of weight. I set myself mini goals of 7lbs at a time and I have lost 2.5st so far with another 2.5st to go! You willl get there in the end x

IRunbecauseILikeCake · 05/06/2022 12:56

Don't get overwhelmed with it. Take little steps and make little changes - its a marathon, not a sprint.
I have a body type that gains weight soooo bloody easily and as I'm in the middle of a house move, I've fallen off the wagon and put weight on- ordering takeaways instead of cooking, drinking over the weekend, etc.
Today I have gone for a run and will cook a healthy meal later and get myself back to good habits bit by bit.

MountainClimber22 · 04/06/2022 21:46

Yep same here. I keep starting to eat right and exercise and then failing. Got a Chinese tonight for example. I think we need to stop putting so much pressure on ourselves. I will get there, slowly but surely. So will you. I mean, sure I want to be thin but I want to be happy too. And that's my problem right there because food makes me happy. Such a hard mind frame to break. I'll be going on my bike tonight to burn off some chinese!

A Chinese isn't the end of the world. Its easier to think of calories in a weekly way rather than daily so if you overspend one day you can save a little the next. It shouldn't be all or nothing as that way will only lead to failure.

Icouldbehappy · 05/06/2022 13:11

I’ve lost 8st in a year and a half. I’m thinner now than when I was 14 😂

picklechick · 05/06/2022 13:14

I'm 37, 4stone heavier than I'd like to be but I'd settle for losing 3. I feel very aware of my weight at the minute and even when I would have put on weight in my younger years I never put it on on my face/neck now I just feel old, puffy, disgusting and frumpy 😢

I'm am truly humbled, inspired and in awe of all of you that have lost weight. I gained mine after having my second child a year ago. Lost all pregnancy weight then gained more.
Anyone fancy a support network of some sort? I need help? So depressed and being fat doesn't help me or my children X

FrankLampardsBrokenHand · 05/06/2022 17:38

3 stone is being at your target by March if you lose 1lb a week, which isn't a vast amount or something requiring a monumental change.

IsSpringSprangedYet · 05/06/2022 17:41

Similar age here too OP. I have an idea to be healthier and toned by the time I'm 40. That's a year and a half away, and it feels impossible. I look pregnant, and weigh as much as I did when I was at my heaviest in pregnancy. I can't seem to stop myself eating shite though.

As PP's have said - smaller targets. I'm saving to do one of Joe Wick's challenges and have some youtube workouts lined up for the week. Hoping to meal plan a bit tomorrow as well. Good luck!

Onlyhuman123 · 05/06/2022 17:56

I've signed up to Second Nature. No calories or syn counting. Just looking at habits and introducing new, healthier ones to replace the unhealthy ones, removing highly processed and high sugar foods, ensuring healthy fats are eaten daily and protein intake is higher along with lots of veg/salad. Also looking at portion sizes. The program gives access to a qualified online dietitian or nutritionist and regular support topics to read. I have similar amount of weight to lose and am peri menopausal so it's more for health reasons now rather than fitting into a size 12. It's going to take a loooong time but it needs to be something sustainable that I can maintain for life rather than a 'diet' that I'll 'come off'of when the weight is lost! Well that's the plan...the journey is gonna be a bumpy one but onwards and upwards!! 😊

Kyiv · 05/06/2022 18:22

I'm 38.

I have 3.5 stone to lose. I want to be 20+lb down by the end of august, so need to aim for 2lb ish a week. I hate how old and frumpy and invisible I've become. I want my nice bum and my smaller waist back!

I've bought a FitOn subscription and I've decided to walk more if I can. I am scared I won't stay motivated. I want to lose the weight but sometimes I feel too tired and too defeated to do the work!

Luckymama2014 · 05/06/2022 18:32

Don't feel down! After Christmas last year I just got sick of that feeling and I walked everyday and lost 5 stone in total by Oct. Prob 1st 3 stone by May. I still had alcohol and treats, but my goodness I felt great & you will to! I'm now 18 wks pregnant so have put weight back on 🙄
