Seeing Friends

Tubbbbut · 04/06/2022 19:47

I understand a lot of Mumsnetters don't drink and don't attend pubs.

We are by no means alcoholics but we have lots of Friends and are very popular so do meet up with Friends in a pub maybe twice or three times a month.

How do other people see Friends?

Surely plenty of MN users drink out of the house and meet up with friends while doing it.

I don't drink (father was an alcoholic and I don't particularly like the taste) but will still happily meet friends in the pub. Coffee is also good if I'm meeting someone in the morning/early afternoon. I'll also happily meet people at attractions like museums, NT sites and events and have a good friend I only seem to meet in museums or historical sites. I have a group of friends I also play board games with either at a cafe or round someone's house.

I've given you the benefit of the doubt as you're presumably an adult and know people share hobbies and have social interactions outside of the pub too and might even know what some of these are.

I was rewatching all 10 seasons on Netflix but they took it off before I got to the end 😡

BakedTattie · 04/06/2022 19:56

I’ve got the dvd box set

orwellwasright · 04/06/2022 19:56

Is that about friends or Friends?

Sherrystrull · 04/06/2022 19:56

I have lots of friends.

We go in a pub for a meal but generally meet in each other's houses, at the park, in a cafe, at the kid's activities. None of it involves alcohol. We always have a great time.

orwellwasright · 04/06/2022 19:57

I think people who say they're popular... maybe aren't.

Basilbrushgotfat · 04/06/2022 19:58

Congratulations on being really popular, op lol

Husband golfs and I dog walk with Friends but I find it amusing on here that if you go for a few beers that is not normal. I have a lot of Friends that like a drink and not many people I know don't.

Meet at local cafe or each other's houses or for dog walk...
As I have children I tend not to go out at night (they are teens but I like to eat and spend the evening with them).
Never been a pub person, maybe for lunch but rarely at night. I drink wine in my own home.

OP are you in the pub now?! GrinGin

Basilbrushgotfat · 04/06/2022 20:05

Btw, what is this "pub" to which you're all referring?

Sherrystrull · 04/06/2022 20:12

I don't understand why people need to have alcohol to have a good time.

Tubbbbut · 04/06/2022 20:21

No I'm watching Top Gun, the first one.

You don't have to take your clothes off to have a good time either.

But it is fun.

I see friends for coffee, shopping, meals out, drinks in the pub - different activities with different friends. Isn't that how most people will see their friends?

Jasmine5552 · 04/06/2022 20:39

Well I can't say that I am popular at all but I do like to have a few drinks now and again. If I was going to meet a friend I would rather meet them for coffee or lunch somewhere or go to the cinema with them. However, that is my personal preference.

What? I'm watching it as we speak?!!!

DownToTheSeaAgain · 04/06/2022 20:42

Why the F? They're friends surely and it doesn't matter where you meet them it's about being with them and having fun together. Sometimes my friends and I go to the pub, sometimes we go for a walk?

Unless I have missed something this is a non discussion.

Sherrystrull · 04/06/2022 20:49

So are you saying you don't have fun with friends without alcohol?

liveforsummer · 04/06/2022 20:50

I have certain fried square we always end up having a wine or 2 whenever we meet. No problem. Not sore what the post is actually about?!

bjjgirl · 04/06/2022 20:52

Coffee
Gym
Walks
Cool at meal at my place

Onwards22 · 04/06/2022 20:52

I think it’s lovely.

I don’t know many people who can afford to drink in pubs regularly now but it’s such a shame as I think it’s such an important part of the community.

I grew up in Cornwall and loads of people would go to the pub as that would be the only time they’d see people.

I can’t remember the last time I went to a pub as they’ve never appealed to me much as I preferred to go out clubbing or do something where I’m not sat down the entire time but I think I’m going to make more of an effort to go now.

Hugasauras · 04/06/2022 20:52

We go for dinner, coffee, lunch, cinema, theatre, for a walk, any one of a huge number of things Confused
