It has been done before but with holidays happening again this seems to keep appearing over the last few weeks.

To me it depends but if its an airline where you pay for seats and you choose not to. Then surely its on you if you are seated away from husband/wife while you have the kids.

OP posts:
Justmuddlingalong · 30/05/2022 12:04

Nope.

Antarcticant · 30/05/2022 12:05

Only if I happened to prefer the seat offered in the swap.

Brazooka · 30/05/2022 12:06

Another thread?

JoeGattoNo · 30/05/2022 12:06

Nope. If I had paid for the extra legroom seats then that's that. Her own problem for not paying the extra

WakeWaterWalk · 30/05/2022 12:07

Possibly.

Floralnomad · 30/05/2022 12:07

Nope , everybody has the chance to book if they don’t bother it’s not my problem

nearlyspringyay · 30/05/2022 12:08

If I had paid for it, no. If it's an airline that operates like that, if you want something specific, may for it.

FeinsteinA · 30/05/2022 12:08

No way. And I wouldn't expect anyone else to accommodate my inability to sort my seats out when I booked them either.

WakeWaterWalk · 30/05/2022 12:09

Oh it was a 10 hour flight. I probably wouldn't!

Smartsub · 30/05/2022 12:09

I'd swap if I just happened to have been allocated a seat that someone else needed more than me, but not if I'd paid to book the seat.

BBQBoke · 30/05/2022 12:10

Nope. You want better seats then be organised and pay for them.

isthenewsuff · 30/05/2022 12:10

No, not if I'd specifically booked and paid for that seat.

Only 1 parent needs to be seated with their child.

I specifically always book an aisle seat near the toilet for medical reasons. I pay the extra to choose my seats. I would not move.

ivykaty44 · 30/05/2022 12:10

I have swapped seats with someone, I offered as I was flying solo and they were mates flying together. They didn't ask.

the plane was going to Heathrow and we all got there

I really don't mind swapping and if im on your flight just ask

Flyonthewall01 · 30/05/2022 12:11

Why didn’t the woman ask someone on her husbands row to swap with her to effectively upgrade them… oh wait that would mean she wouldn’t get everything SHE wanted…

Barkingmadhouse · 30/05/2022 12:11

Not a chance

Blanketpolicy · 30/05/2022 12:11

Sounds like she was too late and booked the one remaining seat with leg room and wanted both the leg room and her dh beside her. She could have moved back a row to be with her dh.

Nothing wrong with her asking, but she should have accepted the no. The guy and his wife paid for the seats and shouldnt have to move.

myuterusistryingtokillme · 30/05/2022 12:12

Not a chance.

If they want to sit together they pay for it like everyone else, the level of entitlement expecting people who have paid to move and accommodate them is staggering

Jaxhog · 30/05/2022 12:12

Only if I preferred the other seat.

Coldnoseandtoes · 30/05/2022 12:14

No, if I'd paid for it, I'd use it. 10 hours is a long time.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/05/2022 12:15

I might, but only if the airline would refund the additional cost and maybe throw in some compensation as a goodwill gesture.

It would help if airlines opened up seat booking first to people who might have specific needs - people with disabilities, babies, small children, and their carers.

ivykaty44 · 30/05/2022 12:15

You want better seats then be organised and pay for them

thats all good if those seats are still available when you book the flight

lady in front of us on one flight was most perturb she had her seat back pushed forward - all the extra room seats had gone and my companion was well over 2meters so couldn't get one and thus didn't have enough room. lady wanted people to swap my companion would have happily swapped and asked if they could provide a bigger seat?

theemmadilemma · 30/05/2022 12:16

Nope. Having a baby doesn't entitle you to everything you want.

KangarooKenny · 30/05/2022 12:16

No, I’ve paid for my seat so shut up and go away.

Watermill · 30/05/2022 12:16

No Way!!

If you want specific seats just pay for them like everyone else.

XmasElf10 · 30/05/2022 12:18

Only if the other seat was equally or more attractive to me than my current seat. Have just spent a fortune on booking seats with OH for next month.
