Wind in garden!

I feel really silly about my frustration so please put me straight.
Our neighbour doesn’t like us. She doesn’t talk to us and I’m fine with that. Lots of reasons all, pathetic.
so last week a gust of wind blew our furniture cover over onto a tree in her garden. It was quite high so I sent a text and said it’s ours and could we have it back. No answer. Today it blew down and I sent another saying I would be going to get it. No answer. Tried to go with my son but gates locked.

shall I just get another one and forget it? It’s not worth the heartache is it?
AIBU for being a bit frustrated? I know it’s a minor problem of course I do. My husband has cancer so I have bigger things to worry about. Put me straight!

Try knocking on the door maybe? She can't do anything with it you're not being unreasonable.

girlmom21 · 27/05/2022 18:43

Knock her door and ask rather then sending texts and telling.

girlmom21 · 27/05/2022 18:43

curlymom · 27/05/2022 18:45

Girlmom21 and strawberriesaregreat. You can’t get to door it’s being locked gates. But when we went we knocked on doorbell on gate, no answer. But a few neighbours came out and glared at us so we left. There was def no answer but others knew we were going!

I honestly thought this thread would be about farting outdoors!

curlymom · 27/05/2022 18:47

Chikapu I think I will fart outdoors…in a certain direction 😂

sorry to disappoint

That doesn't mean you're just allowed to trespass.

Maybe she's out.

You absolutely should and do it with gusto. I hope your husband is doing ok?

curlymom · 27/05/2022 18:50

We didn’t trespass we knocked on the gate bell

curlymom · 27/05/2022 18:51

Thanks chikapu I think I need to just worry about him and not about stupid cover. But if it rains our atuff will get ruined and we are away next week and won’t get one delivered in time 😢

Tape some bin bags together as a temporary fix, order a new cover and ensure it's fixed down properlywith breeze blocks - oh - and your neighbour sounds like a twat.

Looks like that’s what we have to do. Annoyed at husband for not fixing it last time he put the cover on. Clip round the ear imminent

I forgot to say sorry about your husband - cancer is indeed a total bastard Flowers

worraliberty · 27/05/2022 19:07

Maybe she's on a different phone number to the one she was on when she used to speak to you?

Stompythedinosaur · 27/05/2022 19:08

They sound like twats. How petty!

Be a shame if the wind kept carrying more things into their garden. Y'know, now you know she won't want you clearly them up. The odd binliner might get loose, maybe an old cardboard box...

The texting sounds a bit passive aggressive, it would be better to go round with a friendly smile and slightly apologetic manner. I think I would feel a bit put out if you were asking me to get something of yours out of a tree by text without apologising or offering to do it yourself, just barking out orders

I didn’t ask her to do it, I said we would pop round. It’s very difficult when people have been awful to you to pop round and ask with a friendly smile. I don’t give the backstory as it’s long and boring but she has sent all sorts of awful communications to us which is why we prefer not to communicate. My husband wants nothing to do with her but on this occasion I just wanted this item back

In that case I'd probably write it off then. Order a new one and take the furniture indoors if it hasn't arrived by the time you go away.

I wouldn't give her the satisfaction of letter her know it bothered me.

Yes I agree. I hope she enjoys it. Maybe she can make a dress out of it 😂

Maybe we'll see her on the next series of The Great British Sewing Bee 🐝 Wink

What’s that? A dig at her size and weight? Because that’s what it reads like. And if that’s what you find funny I can see why she doesn’t want to talk to you.

userxx · 27/05/2022 19:34

@Ramsbottom I absolutely didn't read it like that.

Macaroni1924 · 27/05/2022 19:35

Clearly I’m missing something as I didn’t read that like that at all.

Didn’t mean that at all. What a strange interpretation. I just don’t know what she would do with a piece of fabric!
