Something wrong here surely.

They are £2 a kilo (which is pretty standard for courgettes for a few years now) and the courgette weighs .62 of a kilo.
Can't see the problem?

Lockheart · 19/05/2022 19:18

They're £2/kilo most places, this doesn't seem strange.

PonyPatter44 · 19/05/2022 19:19

Who pays for courgettes? If you like them, and have any space for a big planter, grow your own! You'll have so many that you'll be giving them away.

And then throw them back in the sea, they are foul things

BlancmanegeBunny · 19/05/2022 19:20

I bought a 500g pack in Aldi today for £1.15. I don't understand your problem?

RestingPandaFace · 19/05/2022 19:20

It weighed 600g so it was either an absolutely massive courgette or you were leaning / had something else on the scales!

wantmorenow · 19/05/2022 19:21

One courgette though. Crazy price. Online basket suggested it would cost me 56p. Usually shop lidl, but due to being ill, I did online.

Unexciting fresh veg and fruit should not be so unaffordable, especially compared to a cheap processed pizza for instance.

YBVU for buying courgettes. They are the the contents of satan’s jockstrap.

One courgette which weighed over half a kilo so it must have been pretty sizeable!

wantmorenow · 19/05/2022 19:22

I have a new allotment this year so will hopefully have some later in season, frosts not over here yet. Night time temps still down to 2 degrees a week ago.

Definitely makes allotment a wise move.

LOL McDs sauce sachet for scale.
Don't judge me - daughter works there and we have them lying around. Haha

Chop it into 7, then they are cheaper

LittleBearPad · 19/05/2022 19:28

It’s pretty massive though

CamdenLurker · 19/05/2022 19:33

Did you weigh it to make sure the label is correct?

LakieLady · 19/05/2022 19:35

Perhaps it was a mislabelled marrow!

CocoDodo · 19/05/2022 19:39

Think it was weighted wrongly. Sometime the scales doesn't work properly so you have to make sure it's at 0.0g before weighting it.

bridgetreilly · 19/05/2022 19:42

That sounds like a very large courgette to me. I usually buy the pack of three for a pound.

wantmorenow · 19/05/2022 19:55

Ha. Mystery solved.

As I said, not well and brain fogged up. Thank you @CamdenLurker

I can rest now and not fear further courgette purchases. Lol

On another note I went to the co op the other day and Lurpak was £5.20!!! Obvs didn’t buy it and I won’t ever again I’ll stick to the Aldi knock off.

Oblomov22 · 19/05/2022 20:07

Seems expensive for one completely normal sized courgette.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 19/05/2022 20:11

I would be tempted to complain (yes I am that petty, and then some).

Oh, I didn't know that, but it does explain the unusual taste...

... and possibly why Ddog couldn't get enough of it. Hmm

Staynow · 19/05/2022 20:15

Definitely complain because they need to know things aren't being weighed properly.

wantmorenow · 19/05/2022 20:23

I'm probably too lazy to complain. Just happy that courgettes haven't become an unaffordable luxury item.

I love courgettes in pasta and tomato and olive sauce by Lloyd Grossman.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 19/05/2022 20:27

If you don't complain, I'll be awake till 1am having imaginary arguments with Courgette Fucker on your behalf.

AlviarinAesSedai · 19/05/2022 20:30

If you do grow them on your allotment, check everyday. Morning and night or you will have a marrow before you know it. 😁
