I’ve got a Boots voucher for some of there No7 products. It’s £7.95 off and there in no minimum spend.

i bought a mascara today but it was self check out and they didn’t take the voucher off me… would you try to use it again?

Would it scan again? Surely it's already counted as used on the system. Aren't you meant to put it in a slot somewhere (you do with coupons at Tesco).

This. Pretty sure Boots are already aware there are unscrupulous people around, such as yourself...

Classica · 18/05/2022 20:11

They give No 7 vouchers out willy nilly. That's why no one buys a No 7 product at full price. If it works, it works. Give it a try.

Idbemonica1 · 18/05/2022 20:17

they didn't take the voucher off me so it's the staffs fault?
You are either an honest person or not. Your choice.

HardRockOwl · 18/05/2022 20:25

Lol

I see the purists are out in force

Just give it a go and they'll soon tell you if it's not accepted

In the meantime, make sure you're wearing that horsehair shirt and carrying a whip

Ilikewinter · 18/05/2022 20:31

Ex Boots employee - the voucher will scan through the till again 😁

Overitallnow · 18/05/2022 20:57

What is all this "honest person" rubbish? Good luck getting anything in Boots, my local one is half empty.

GirlCrushxxx · 18/05/2022 21:02

ugh really?

Georgeskitchen · 18/05/2022 21:29

Don't know what's going on in Boots these days. Never any staff on the pharmacy over-the-counter bit, having to stand there totally ignored for 10 minutes (3 staff in the actual pharmacy) Huge queue at the tills, one poor colleague on there, buzzing constantly for help. Nobody comes. I rarely go in there anymore.
Cheaper at Superdrug anyway

VladmirsPoutine · 18/05/2022 21:31

Just give it a go and see if it works? If not not if it does hey ho. I can't understand how this is in any way a moral / ethical dilema.

Classica · 18/05/2022 22:24

They give away the vouchers for free to encourage people to buy their No 7 stuff. Zero moral dilemma situation going on.

Bryonny84 · 18/05/2022 22:39

No moral dilemmas here. Try it, if it works it works. I once got DOUBLE DISCOUNT on Cotton Traders when checking out and I never told them. I know no one might want that lol. On the other hand I often used to get someone's catalogue deliveries from a similar address and I always walked round to their house to re-deliver (they were a size 16 and I'm a 10).

That was a joke of course -the size thing lol. I did used to re-deliver.

Blarting · 19/05/2022 05:39

Give it a go.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 19/05/2022 05:46

Its called self scan because you do it yourself. You are supposed to put the voucher in the slot. I presume nobody actually took your payment either but you didn't walk out without swiping your card or depositing your cash.

Ilikewinter · 19/05/2022 06:27

Georgeskitchen, the issue with Boots now is that they made too many assistant managers and customer advisors redundant, then when business increased new staff are only offered temporary contracts and whos going to leave a permenant job for that.
Ultimately the staff left get sooo stressed out and peeved off that they leave - like me!
Boots is also up for sale.

BlueKaftan · 19/05/2022 06:43

I guess you either have a moral compass or you don’t.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 19/05/2022 09:40

I can't understand how this is in any way a moral / ethical dilema

Taking an item without paying isn't a moral or ethical dilemma, its stealing

AtomicBlondeRose · 19/05/2022 09:54

It's not a moral issue, there are literally thousands of these vouchers around and they're very freely available so I don't see the problem at all.

ElenaSt · 19/05/2022 10:02

Every time you scan a voucher more than once a silent alarm goes off and a message will be broadcast over the tannoy - 'LADY WEARING THE RED TROUSERS (or whatever distinctive item of clothing you are wearing) IS A CHANCER! SECURITY! SECURITY'

You will then be bum rushed to the floor by security who will frog march you to the back of the store where you will be strip searched, a torch shone into your eyes, the lady from the No 7 counter will give you an orange make over and you will not be allowed to leave the store until you have written out a hundred times -

Vouchers are to be used only once.

latetothefisting · 19/05/2022 10:07

Yes!
Who are these people who say no?
Sometimes there are cases for being honest but in this case boots give out the vouchers freely. You could probably go up to the till and just ask.for another one.

They've obviously done the cost/benefit analysis and worked out that someone paying 7 quid for a mascara that's usually priced around 15 quid is better than not buying anything which is usually the case. That's how these offers work! They aren't aimed at the regular customers who would get no 7 anyway, at the usual price, they are aimed at people who wouldn't usually buy anything or would buy a mascara from a different brand, to feel like they've got a bargain whereas boots still make a profit.

ChazzaGirl · 19/05/2022 10:11

I’d try using it again. There have been plenty of times when I’ve bought No 7 make up and been asked if I have a voucher, and when I’ve said no, the person serving me has said ‘well, I’ll just scan one through anyway for you’.

Thatswhyimacat · 19/05/2022 10:11

Eh, if Boots cared that much they'd make the vouchers single scan.

ChloeHel · 19/05/2022 10:27

Is everyone’s local Boots struggling then? Most of mine also have little to no stock and no staff. Quite sad - Mr Boots will be turning in his grave.

Bananalanacake · 19/05/2022 10:46

Boots has gone downhill lately, does anyone know the Lewisham branch, I couldn't find Natural Collection toiletries anywhere and they have cut down on their own brand hair dye, I wanted to spend abit of money in there but gave up.

Madmog · 19/05/2022 11:09

You're meant to put the voucher in the allotted slot.

Like many other places, Boots have really struggled over the last couple of years and had to make a good number of redundancies, hence the reason for pharmacy closure, queues at tills. Staff are working their socks off, on top of which it's hard to get supplies in right now. If you want to add to that by using your voucher again, then yes go ahead and try it again.
