Im a SAHM to three/four kids. Time effort and money(within reason) is not a problem but eating the same food week in week out is making me fell urgh. we seem to live on bolognese, chicken, chigacotown pizzas, chips, rice, pasta. All very beige. We are not huge meat eaters so stuff like stakes and gammon are ate about once twice a year in our house. So whats everyones favorite go too meals.

We’re pretty basic. No fancy Gusto type foods.

chilli
lasagne
fish/scampi and chips
fahitas
chicken wraps with garlic and herb wedges
roast dinners
nandos (those bags where add seasoning to chicken and bake)
jackets with cheese and salad

LaTangerina · 17/05/2022 18:47

Chilli
Curry (you could do a chickpea curry/bean Chilli instead of meat)
Veggie tagliatelle - roast aubergines, courgette & garlic & Chilli for my version)
Macaroni cheese
Burgers (you could have veggie burgers if you're not eating meat)
Cheesy beans on toast

Sausage and fennel ragu - it's dead easy and a nice change from spag Bol.

You can use any fat sausages but I use the Tesco finest with pancetta.

Finely chop a large onion and two cloves of garlic, fry until soft. Take 400g pack of sausage and slit them/take skin off. Break up roughly into small pieces and add to pan, stir round and cook until starting to go golden. Measure two teaspoons of fennel seeds and stir them in for a couple of mins before adding a tin of chopped tomatoes, two tablespoons Tom purée and 300 ml stock (can use veg or chicken). I also add about half teaspoon of chilli flakes but they're optional if you don't do spicy. Simmer for about 30 min with lid off so it reduces to a nice thick sauce. Season and serve with rigatoni or whatever pasta you have. This serves 3-4 depending how hungry you are. You could add extra chopped veg to make it go further, peppers would work well.

Tonight we are having a pre-marinaded chicken from Sainsburys (this is a peri peri spatchcock one). We have it with flatbread, salad and chips. Easy and delicious.

livingthegoodlife · 17/05/2022 18:58

Homemade lasagne (made half mince then half a mix of green & red lentils) with big salad.

My DH makes amazing Yorkshires, so we often have an almost plate sized one each with a filling. Sausage in onion gravy is good but tonight we're having leftover beef which was sliced and frozen its gravy. I've added mushrooms and other veg to the mix

Phos · 17/05/2022 19:07

Tonight roasted mediterranean vegetables with orzo pasta.

We are not vegetarian but eat veggie most days.

RollOnWinter · 17/05/2022 19:09

Sausageandeggs · 17/05/2022 19:14

Tonight is cod, with garlic and rosemary potatoes and leeks and pancetta.

Greensleeves · 17/05/2022 19:16

Homemade chicken, mushroom and puy lentil soup with bread and butter

Homemade pea and ham soup ( this is really easy, you just cook tins of mushy peas, frozen peas, parsley, garlic and seasoning with some water, blend it up and add some more peas and chopped up gammon, Lidl do really good cheap gammon joints)

Mac and cheese with sausages and broccoli/peas/sweetcorn

Slow-cooked beef curry (cheap casserole beef, tinned chickpeas, onions, veggies, garlic, curry spices/paste/powder, passata, yoghurt - bung it all in a casserole dish and leave it in the oven for 4 hours)

Cottage pie, shepherd's pie, fish pie.

GiltEdges · 17/05/2022 19:17

Tonight we had a tray bake of chicken, carrots, peppers, red onion and potatoes with fresh thyme and a sweet chilli sauce. We tend to do Gusto or Hello Fresh for 4-5 meals a week to give us a bit more variety.

wwyd2021medicine · 17/05/2022 19:29

BBC good food stove top moussaka
Needs more herbs and some red wine and I use fresh aubergine but v tasty

ChocolateHippo · 17/05/2022 19:41

Fussy DC here. So we're not very inspired either 😁! Tonight was chilli with rice. Tomorrow will be chilli with pasta. The rest of the chilli will be frozen and defrosted to have with jacket potatoes at the weekend.

Yesterday was salmon, new potatoes and broccoli (though I did fries for DC as he won't eat new potatoes).

Thursday will be pizza (I'm working late).

Friday will be vegetarian pasta bake (DC will pick out the veggies so I'll make him a side of sweetcorn as well).

Weekend will be a roast (probably chicken) and leftovers.

mrsnebby · 17/05/2022 19:55

Some good inspo here. Cant wait to try some of them out. Hubby is getting sick of bolognese but i could eat it every night of the week 😂

We had tacos tonight - the filling was a quorn/pepper/and kidney bean chilli then we put cheese and raw peppers on top.

Tomorrow is spinach and ricotta tagliatelle

Then one night will be scrambled eggs on toast and one night oven pizza - the dinners get less inventive as the week goes on!

hangrylady · 17/05/2022 20:00

Tonight is salad, pesto pasta and chicken breast. Yesterday was stir fry with leftover pork from the Sunday roast. I get really bored of the same meals too, will be following this thread for inspiration!
