Parking

My neighbour reported me for parking on the drive without a drop kerb, hes been a nightmare since the day I moved in, but now he's bumping up the kerb outside my house and rolling back onto his drive which is damaging the kerb outside my house. Am I being unreasonable to contact my local council with the evidence of his bumping up the kerb outside my house and saying if I can't park on my drive because there no drop kerb then how can he bump up the kerb outside my house to get on his drive?

There’s a special place in hell for neighbours like that. Can you apply to drop the kerb and shut him up forever?

LampLighter414 · 13/05/2022 20:00

Id apply and pay for a dropped kerb if you can afford it

RunningFromInsanity · 13/05/2022 20:01

Nah you’re just salty you tried to be a CF and got caught.
Presumably you weren’t concerned about damaging your curb when you were the one illegally bumping up it?

carefullycourageous · 13/05/2022 20:04

You have an illegal drive if you don't have a dropped kerb. That makes it difficult as whilst he is being petty by mounting the pavemnt, you are more clearly in the wrong.

Really fucking petty to report someone though. You're the neighbour aren't you?

I don't think it is that petty tbh, it is illegal for a reason as it becomes a total nightmare when inappropriate drives are constructed, dangerous for pedestrians, cyclists and kids playing in the street.

Unhappy4119 · 13/05/2022 20:07

Well 1 don't really know the law on drop kerbs as I'm not a driver and 2 he's was using it aswell before he grassed me up

I agree. If you were concerned about damaging the kerb you wouldn't have been driving over it in the first place.

You are not a driver but your neighbour has reported you for using a drive?

It is. We have 3 on our street. It doesn't affect anyone else life whatsoever.

We have a drive. Car and van on it. I don't drive.

Clymene · 13/05/2022 20:21

Are you the op @AllThingsServeTheBeam ?

Every street is different, and that is why permission is usually granted but sometimes refused. If it does not affect the other road users in those places, they should apply as they will be granted.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 13/05/2022 20:24

Totally need an explanation. If it is a drive you have to be able to drive on and off it, right? So if there is no dropped curb, how is it a drive? Its more of just a cement patio. Where are you supposed to park if you can't park on the drive that isn't a drive? Maybe a picture?
Or is this a totally British thing that does not translate?

IncompleteSenten · 13/05/2022 20:25

If you don't have a dropped kerb you don't have a drive. You have a paved front garden.

Yes he was petty to report it but at least you now know you can't drive up a kerb and over a pavement and need to pay for a dropped kerb.

If he's now driving over your paved garden onto his drive then you could match his pettiness and report him right back. 🤷‍♀️

Tbh I'd just leave him to it. Park in front of your house until you can have a dropped kerb.

IncompleteSenten · 13/05/2022 20:27

Also, even if you don't drive and don't know the law, whoever is parking on your paved garden certainly should.

R00K · 13/05/2022 20:28

Yeah, report him. He is bumping up the kerb on purpose to damage it, and then he will report you for the damage, and you'll get a nice big bill.

No duck. I have a dropped curb 👍😉

But if the OPs neighbour is also now using the none dropped curb to bump up then it obviously didn't have much of an impact on his life did it? He was just being a petty twat.

DaffodillSky · 13/05/2022 20:31

You're the neighbour aren't you? Aren't there 60 million people in the UK? Pretty unlikely. 🙄

coffeecupsandfairylights · 13/05/2022 20:31

How did your neighbour report you for parking on the drive when you don't drive?!

Yes. I definitely 100% thought that poster was the ops neighbour. I've just being accused of being the op. Are you going to jump on that poster too?

Don't take life too seriously ay

Yarnasaurus · 13/05/2022 20:34

As someone on a past thread said, that's not a drive, it's a patio with aspirations.

Horst · 13/05/2022 20:35

You don’t have a drive you have a paved?gravel? Front garden. No drop kerb no drive way.

our council have actually gone and put bollards in where people have constantly driving over the pavement to access their fake drives. Sometimes while the cars have been on said drives. Quite hilarious.

pay to get it dropped or stop driving over the payment. You didn’t care about the kerb damage when it was your house inflicting It.

DaffodillSky · 13/05/2022 20:36

Don't take life too seriously ay Oh it was a joke! Oh, it was hilarious!!! Well done! Really good one.
