to ask why my oven was vibrating when I woke up?!

Came downstairs after my lovely 8 hour sleep and my oven was vibrating. It was the sound it makes after it has been on, whilst it's cooling down. On my own last last night and the oven was stone cold too, luckily.

Google won't help me!

So the fan was on?

ChickensandCows · 13/05/2022 14:15

Was it warm or completely cold?

BrioNotBiro · 13/05/2022 14:17

Had you accidentally set the timer and the oven had been on, but just switched off?

Mrsherdwick · 13/05/2022 14:25

It’s possessed 👻

Itsallrocknroll · 13/05/2022 14:45

The gingerbread man is ready to come out ( you won't catch him though if you do)

JolieJ · 13/05/2022 14:46

You lost me at 8 hours sleep Envy (jealous mum of a toddler who won't sleep through)

watcherintherye · 13/05/2022 14:46

There’s always a logical explanation, op!

FieryPitOfMordor · 13/05/2022 14:47

Mine does that after a power cut

TheYearOfSmallThings · 13/05/2022 14:53

If you switch it off at the wall it will stop.

wordler · 13/05/2022 14:55

Mice.

ChristmasFluff · 13/05/2022 16:34

Is it one with dual controls? My bloody oven was 'on' and vibrating, but not cooking my dinner, because I hadn't set the tenperature dial.

CrazyRatLover · 13/05/2022 19:28

Sorry forgot I'd posted and been busy! The fan wasn't on and it was stone cold. It will only turn on with the knobs! They were off.
@wordler mice? How could mice make it vibrate?!!!

Do you have a Samsung oven? Mine randomly switches on and off.

wordler · 13/05/2022 19:30

They get inside and run around and it can make clicking noises / vibrations which sound just the an oven when it is heating up or cooling down.

Ask me how I know 😒

GarlicGnocchi · 13/05/2022 19:31

That's so freaky.

girlmom21 · 13/05/2022 19:38

Turn it on. Has anything stopped working? Are there any funny smells? We had a burnt out element and our oven started behaving strangely!

CrazyRatLover · 13/05/2022 19:48

Not Samsung. It's a very old oven! How can a mouse get actually inside an oven?! I've turned it on and everything is fine.

OP posts:
CrazyRatLover · 13/05/2022 19:49

@girlmom21 what was it doing?

We had the same noises and vibrations as you randomly (from what I can gather) and a burning smell when it was on.

Mice can get through a space the size of the width of a pencil. If you move the oven out from it's spot check for tiny mice droppings. If it's not that then I don't know what it would be - ghostly possession?

Burning smell when on can also be mice.

Ask me how I know 😬

CrazyRatLover · 13/05/2022 19:55

The oven is built into the unit but I'll remove the kickboard and have a look. Thank you.

My food has tasted weird but put that down to it needing a clean!

Could your DP be having an affair OP?

girlmom21 · 13/05/2022 20:04

@wordler noooo! That's rank! I'm so sorry you went through that. I'd never trust an oven again Grin

OP ours was in the back of the oven. We'd never have known it ourself and the engineer said it's a really unusual thing to go but it only costs like 50p to replace
