We have nothing planned. I could go out with friends in the day and eves, there has been a lose invite. My DC and H will be happy sitting at home doing nothing. If I suggest/arrange something then they might engage, but:

I want to spend as little money as I can, if possible. We have the cash and could spend it but also trying to save for something special, but the saving/special thing is a long term thing we are planning for.
If we go to any UK coast it is bound to be packed, parking will be impossible unless we get there at stupid o'clock i.e. 8am. I don't want to battle the crowds.
If nice weather then all local pubs will also be crowded with a long wait for lunchtime food, if we could get a table in the rush that is.
Same with all parks etc and my DC/H wont go to a park anyways.

I don't feel like I can take up the friends invite because it feels as though I am saying to H and DC 'I've got plans for the day, enjoy sitting at home (their choice), see you tonight sometime'

It's half term. We're going to CenterParcs in France for the week.

Whammyyammy · 11/05/2022 11:42

Shall be led on a beach in Menorca

nearlyspringyay · 11/05/2022 11:43

Trying to find a break away now, looking at Bruges for a few nights, it's half term.

PansyPetunia · 11/05/2022 11:47

Working! It's just another weekend..

Bazookapie · 11/05/2022 11:50

Hopefully sitting in the sun on a Majorcan beach.

Me too, for enhanced rates. I hate Bank Holidays from when I used to get them. Everywhere is packed, screeching kids everywhere. No thanks!

bellinisurge · 11/05/2022 12:01

None specific.

CounsellorTroi · 11/05/2022 12:03

It's my birthday on the Friday. But I would not be working anyway (retired). Nothing planned yet. Not a big birthday.

BobHadBitchTits · 11/05/2022 12:07

Nothing. I've not even thought about it.

catscatscatseverywhere · 11/05/2022 12:10

Haven't thought of it. Definitely not planning a getaway. Probably will spend some time at home with my husband.

Lottie4 · 11/05/2022 12:10

Neighbours are on about a party on Sunday afternoon. I don't finish work until 5pm, but they've assured me they'll be happy to carry on eating and drinking into the evening! DH on call all weekend, so he needs to be close to home.

ColdApril · 11/05/2022 12:12

We're going into London.

I already regret the decision Confused but really think this is the chance for DC to have a memory of doing something about the (any) Queen.

So we'll suffer for a day then relax the rest of the weekend.

TaranThePigKeeper · 11/05/2022 12:12

I’m off to a literary festival for a couple of days, and DH is off on a camping trip. We’ll spend the rest of the time together at home, pottering and doing some things in the house or garden, depending on the weather.

89redballoons · 11/05/2022 12:13

We're taking advantage of the four day run without work or nursery to try and crack potty training our toddler. Glamorous!

DC’s birthday on the 2nd so obviously celebrating that.

No idea about the rest of the weekend. Possibly attend a local jubilee celebration at some point. No big plans for the rest of it.

StarDolphins · 11/05/2022 12:16

Hopefully it’s warm & we can go into town/garden for ice-cream/picnic & play! Going anywhere touristy/beach would be hell on earth for me, too busy & too many kids!

my town will be bad enough with tourists 🤨

ZeroFuchsGiven · 11/05/2022 12:16

I am on the village hall committee, on the Friday we have arranged entertainment and traditional afternoon tea for all the residents in our village.

emmathedilemma · 11/05/2022 12:19

i've got family coming to stay so we'll be doing local touristy stuff

Titsywoo · 11/05/2022 12:24

No plans for the actual Jubilee celebrations although I am going into London on the Friday to try mudlarking for the first time (really looking forward to it as wanted to do it since pre lockdown). I'm hoping it won't be too busy as I would like to grab lunch afterwards. The village is having a big picnic with bands playing on the Sunday so might pop along to that. Mainly I'll take advantage of the extra time off to get some gardening and DIY done!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 11/05/2022 12:25

Too much. Out with friends Thurs night. Neighbours picnic in the park Friday. Neighbours bbq Sat, then a local village do going on.

Pre covid I used to thrive on weekends like that, full up with social stuff. Now I like a couple of things, but gaps inbetween Grin. At least it's all local and not sitting in traffic jams. Might have to take Monday off work.

Waystation · 11/05/2022 12:27

I moved to a very small village 18 months ago - I think this was a mistake (but that’s another story) - village picnic - they are closing the roads in and out, there is a committee, fundraising and endless bunting making - trying to not be dragged into this but they have decided the best place to have this picnic is right in front of my house - and yes I’m aware I sound like a misery - but I long for the anonymous city!

noborisno · 11/05/2022 12:58

Family have planned a garden party and a park has a family day on, so that's both days sorted.

LadyRoughDiamond · 11/05/2022 13:09

Laying by a pool in Greece and having as little as possible to do with the endless Jubilee bunting, street parties and TV programmes

FlamingGoat · 11/05/2022 13:13

Normal working week for me as Veterinary.

I'll be suffering from the "Oh I didn't know you were open (so why did you ring then I say silently under my breath)" "Are you open?" (No, I'm a recorded message and hits head on desk) What a shame you're open" phone calls we get every bloody holiday.
