Is this an appropriate dress for a wedding?

I had bought this dress from M&S for my holiday but did not wear it whilst away (still tagged, I only remove them once I wear them). I’m not sure when I would wear it next so considering returning, but I then thought I could wear it to a wedding in October I’m attending as a guest. My DP doesn’t think it’s the right style dress to wear to a wedding because it’s animal print, and now I’m torn.

Is it appropriate? I plan to wear with very pale pink sandals and pale pink clutch. I am mid thirties.

I’d say that was totally appropriate for a wedding.

BusterGonad · 10/05/2022 11:34

I think it's lovely and I'd wear it to a, wedding. But I don't really follow the old rules about what to wear to weddings etc.

Planker · 10/05/2022 11:35

It is a perfectly nice dress. What is wrong with it?

BraveFaceScaredInside · 10/05/2022 11:35

Perfect to wear to a wedding :)

fruitbrewhaha · 10/05/2022 11:35

Yep, totally fine for a wedding. Animal print has had a come back and is very on trend. It makes it a bit less formal but not unsuitable.

housemaus · 10/05/2022 11:35

Perfect for a wedding!

CakesOfVersailles · 10/05/2022 11:36

I like the colours but I probably wouldn't wear leopard print to a wedding to be honest.

totallyoutnumbered · 10/05/2022 11:37

It's perfect 👍🏻

Mermaidkisses · 10/05/2022 11:37

Its perfect! I love it

Aboutdamntime · 10/05/2022 11:37

It looks absolutely fine. The only think I would be thinking is if I would be a bit cold in it in October?!

Neverendingdust · 10/05/2022 11:37

I think dressed down casually with sandals on holiday it would be ok but dressed up it’s a little bit ‘cake bake sale at the WI’ for a wedding.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 10/05/2022 11:38

It depends how formal the wedding is. It's a bit casual for a church, but fine for other settings.

Roughntumble · 10/05/2022 11:38

Really lovely dress and perfectly appropriate for a wedding and the accessories sound right.

Its not as if its traditional animal print a la Bet Lynch!

Does your DH often critique your style choices?

stuntbubbles · 10/05/2022 11:38

Perfectly appropriate for a wedding. But depends when in October: Indian summer heatwave early October and an afternoon wedding, yes. Late October clocks nearly changing torrential downpours wedding, nah – you’d be cold and I don’t think it goes with a winter coat and warmer shoes.

TheHomeEdit · 10/05/2022 11:38

It’s fine for a wedding but will you really want to wear sandals in October? So my only worry is you will be cold!

10HailMarys · 10/05/2022 11:38

Completely appropriate for a wedding. There's no reason you can't wear animal print to a wedding - and it's not in-your-face animal print anyway, because it's pink. It's more animal print inspired.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 10/05/2022 11:38

Are they vegan? Is that why he thinks they may sniff at an animal print?

It's perfect for a wedding!

keziah81 · 10/05/2022 11:41

I agree with your DP Blush

BreakorMake · 10/05/2022 11:41

Nice dress, pretty colour, it's fine and you will look great.

I'm interested to know how your DP is so clued in as to what is appropriate or not. How and why does he think animal print (which is subtle in the dress anyway) is somehow not right?

The dress is not in anyway a shocker or anything like that. Don't let him put you off.

It’s fine depending on the wedding. A little informal for a church and very large/formal reception but it’s a really pretty dress and perfect for a more casual wedding.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 10/05/2022 11:51

It's lovely definitely suitable for a wedding. Very on trend both thes style and the print.

Notagain76 · 10/05/2022 11:55

Agree with most posters, possible but casual for church wedding, and not sure if a clutch and sandals will go.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 10/05/2022 11:58

I think it's fine, but might be chilly for an October wedding, so maybe a bright pink jacket to go with it and make it a bit more formal.

Planker · 10/05/2022 11:59

I have already posted but I have realised that after many years of attending weddings - no one will care what the guests are wearing. All focus is on the bride maybe the groom. As long as you wear something that YOU feel special and dressed up enough then it's all good.

The most recent wedding I attended I actually wore a skirt with a similar print to your dress, OP with a silky top. I was not the most under dressed though. I felt I looked good, felt comfortable and will wear the outfit again.
