Are nomination bracelets still popular with teens? Is pandora out?
Posting in AIBU for traffic!
Need to buy a few gifts for milestone teen birthdays & want them to be a surprise. Tiffany's is out of my price range.
Just wondering if Pandora & Nomination charm bracelets are still popular or would I be getting it horribly wrong?

Never heard of Nomination.

If you do go for Pandora, I'd opt for the silver.

Bought DD a rose gold plated ring from there for her birthday a couple of years ago. She only wore it on weekends and it looked very shabby, very quickly...not just wearing off of the plate but generally battered and scratched, and she's not a sporty/outdoorsy type at all that would have caused massive wear and tear.

She's coming up 18 now and likes Estella Bartlett, Daisy London and Astrid & Miyu atm.

Reenskar · 07/05/2022 13:33

What about Thomas Sabo? They have a good range of charms.

Thank you I'll look up those brands too :)

I'd take them into town if at all possible and casually browse a jewellery shop window to try and ascertain the kind of stuff they like.
If you linger outside Pandora they'll either start talking about how nice items are or start declaring it naff which opens the way for you to covertly find out what type of stuff they do like.

dementedpixie · 07/05/2022 13:51

My dd has no interest in jewellery so wouldn't thank you for either of them (although I still don't know what a nomination one is)

My kids see Pandora as "chavvy".

That's a strange attitude for them to have!
My DD loves Pandora, she's got various pieces of jewellery, and with the charms they mean something to her. We're certainly not 'chavvy' and neither are her peers who like Pandora.
She does also like Swarovski as well though so maybe that would be an option OP?

TheCanyon · 07/05/2022 13:59

Just had a look at nominations. They seem quite childish? I'd try find something else tbh.

Fairislefandango · 07/05/2022 14:10

My kids see Pandora as "chavvy".

And you haven't done anything to guide them away from this snobby attitude?

Rofl at the idea that one can easily 'guide away' teenagers from their opinions! How do you know the poster hasn't tried?

OP - you're going to have to ask her. Or could you ask one of her close friends and swear them to secrecy?

Pandoracharm · 07/05/2022 14:11

Well this is awkward! 🤔🤣

monkeysox · 07/05/2022 14:14

It's best to actually ask them. Surprises are totally well meant but you don't want something to languish in a drawer.
Pandora is so popular but actually only comes with 2 year guarantee. It's costume jewellery.

Crackercrazy · 07/05/2022 14:18

I’ve never heard of nomination so thanks for this thread OP!

My DD16 likes and wears Pandora.

These are nomination bracelets:

I'll try add a picture too.

Amazed some of you have never heard of Nomination, sometimes known as Italian Charm bracelets. They have been around for years and are in many shopping centres.
I have a couple as I keep filling them, as does DD. Not something I've ever thought to be a generational thing and I know a few teens with them as well as 50+ women.

Much prefer it to Pandora as it's practical and wearable for everyday. I found Pandora a bit clunky for me.

They're not all childish imo there are literally 100s to choose from.
Do you find pandora more grown up or childish too?
Any other suggestions or ideas for me?
Ty

I think it ends today but Pandora are doing a 3 for 2 offer . You could buy the bracelet and two charms with 1 charm free .

Yes I know thanks hence the urgency on making a decision today if I go with them thank you x

I've looked at them & the bits I liked were quite expensive. Thank you though x

And I like that they're stainless steel too so they should literally last forever right?

I can't find who asked me to go look at a pandora shop, unfortunately I haven't got one anywhere near me. I've got a jewellers selling the nomination bracelets hence them coming to my attention.
Pandora I'd have to buy online.
