Hi Dementers,

Is it at all possible, when referring to Rapid Antigen Tests to stop calling them RATS Tests. They're not Rapid Antigen Tests Tests. FFS.

Coughee · 09/04/2022 22:43

Don't think I have ever seen anyone refer to them as anything but lfts tbh!

fmac2987 · 09/04/2022 22:44

I think its an Aussie thing, we moved back recently and the idiocy of people who use the acronym and follow it with tests makes me want to locate a weapon.

OutlookStalking · 09/04/2022 22:45

Its lfts or lfds here. I k
Now family in Australia called them Rats rhough.

Really not an issue in England!

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/04/2022 22:45

Hmm only ever called them lft's, do the same job.

OutlookStalking · 09/04/2022 22:45

See pin number
Sats tests...

DropYourSword · 09/04/2022 22:46

No one calls them RATS tests. They call the RAT tests. Yes it's redundant, but who cares

SoupDragon · 09/04/2022 22:48

What are Dementers?

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/04/2022 22:49

Thought it was Harry Potter reference Smile

MerryMarigold · 09/04/2022 22:49

I only know them as LFTs. Never heard of RATs but that's what I'd call them. I haven't said a LFT test as I know what the T stands for!

CuddlyCactus · 09/04/2022 22:51

Only know them as LFTs

SoupDragon · 09/04/2022 22:53

They're Dementors but still makes no sense.
HulaTheHedgehog · 09/04/2022 22:57

Yep this! ^ What's going on? The OP's first post wasn't offensive. It was just a Harry Potter reference yes?

DropYourSword · 09/04/2022 23:37

echt · 10/04/2022 00:04

Yeah, I thought that was a bit weird too.

My NZ family & friends call them RAT tests too (Rapid Antigen Test)
It makes me squirm, I'm glad we didn't here!

Nennypops · 10/04/2022 00:49

I assume the problem is that you are effectively repeating the word "test"?

OP, don't ever go on the London Underground to Battersea Power Station. Because that's the name of the station, like, say, Earl's Court or Knightsbridge, technically it's Battersea Power Station Station.

mocktail · 10/04/2022 07:40

Same as PIN number and PAT testing Smile
