Breast milk Teddy Bear

AIBU to think 🤮 about those horrid Brest milk Teddy Bear keepsakes? What are they for? Who buys them? I absolutely don't want to be accused of any type of -ism, but could people tell me if there is specific type of people who buys such things?

I’ve never heard of a breast milk teddy bear and am struggling to understand how on earth that works

I do however have breast milk jewellery - a ring to be specific. My husband got it for me when our first was a year old, we’d had various difficulties with feeding and the fact we’d made it to a year of feeding was incredibly special to me given we very nearly stopped at 3 weeks. The ring itself isn’t very obviously breastmilk, it’s just a white glittery stone on a pretty band so no one would necessarily know what it is other than me. I thought it was extremely thoughtful of DH and it’s very special to me now.

I think breast milk jewellery is lovely. I usually hate stuff like that but not in this instance.

I've seen a surprising amount of breast milk trinkets. I know some people love them and good for them, but personally I think the idea of making basically anything out of a bodily fluid is absolutely gross 🤮

I have seen what you are talking about Op, I agree it looks really odd and childish? Also, I couldn't work out is the milk in it solid or liquid?

I know a woman who had a piece of jewellery made from her dead partner's gold teeth, which I thought was quite a good idea. It would be a shame to keep useless but valuable teeth.

@britneyisfree I used a company called Blossom Keepsake that are UK based, I think it was about 5 weeks from beginning to finish to receive it and they only required about 5ml of milk.

I don't have any breast milk jewelry/keepsakes but I don't understand why some people are grossed out by it it's milk mixed into resin it's not going to go off its solid, would cow's milk also gross you out? I am having my dog's ashes made into a ring is that also gross?
There are lots of makers in the UK. Try searching DNA jewelry.
P.s. the bears are resin too not actual cuddly teddy bears, just an ornament

It just seems absolutely pointless!

Surely, you could have a piece of jewellery to mark/commemorate your bf journey without milk in it and it would be the same?!

And yes, cow's milk and dog ash jewellery are equally weird and pointless imo.

I thought about getting a breast milk charm with DS1. When DS2 died at birth I was told my milk wouldn't come in but it did, and i did briefly wonder about expressing and having something made then. I'm sort of glad I didn't, I'd have felt emotionally bound to have done the same when Dd1 then also died at birth.

I have their ashes and wonder about having those made into jewellery, so I can see the merit in it.

As I career towards my menopause, maybe I'll get some period blood made into a brooch. Or perhaps my dh could've had some semen made into cufflinks before his vasectomy.

Never brewed of BM jewellery or teddies. I do however have a 3 year old pot of BM in the freezer , I just can't throw it away 😂gross I know

My husband said he would get me a charm...we haven't got round to it yet but I have a pot of bm in the freezer four and a half years later. He's almost seven 🤣
