Man-spreading

Currently on a bus and can hardly squeeze on to the seat because of the guy next to me spreading his legs. He is literally making no effort to give me even an inch of roomS. So annoying! I hate confrontation but I find it so rude! Why do people do this?!

Because people like you do not ask them to move up. They are oblivious.

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/04/2022 12:13
Hmm
TidyDancer · 02/04/2022 12:13

Say something. You absolutely shouldn't have to, but it's either that or move.

RandomThought96 · 02/04/2022 12:14

Go on. BBite the bullet. Smile. “ Would you mind moving over a bit so I can sit down properly?” Smile. Thank you.
Do not do this if he looks like a mad axe murderer,

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 02/04/2022 12:15

Maybe force a fart?

CrotchetyQuaver · 02/04/2022 12:17

Last time I was on a train and this happened I spread my legs and elbows too just like his too so one of mine was touching his. He didn't like it, he'd huffed and puffed about me taking that seat the arsehole. Now I'm older, I just won't sit there tolerating such passive aggression and be all cramped up.

nomistake · 02/04/2022 12:18

Do it back

AnnaSW1 · 02/04/2022 12:23

Develop a jiggle. Jiggle that leg like crazy. It works

SirChenjins · 02/04/2022 12:25

This does my nut in.

Either do the same back or say ‘you’re encroaching into my space, I need you to move over’

I did the same to a man opposite me on the train who was stretching out his legs into my area @CrotchetyQuaver - he huffed and puffed and tried to catch my eye so he could have a word no doubt, but I held my book up and refused to look at him. There was smoke coming out of his ears, it was brilliant.

TwoShades1 · 02/04/2022 12:27

Just spread back! They always get uncomfortable if your touching them and will move.

FloralsForSpring · 02/04/2022 12:28

Start spreading back slowly

BaronessBomburst · 02/04/2022 12:32

I like the poster who once said that that she'd told a guy to shove up, because "there's no way your balls are bigger then my arse". Grin

VladmirsPoutine · 02/04/2022 12:38

I hate this kind of thing with a passion. I'm just trying to get from point A to point B - I don't want a peacock of a man spreading his balls into my space!!!

Createabitofuntruenews · 02/04/2022 12:39

Copying Boris Johnson,he is an expert at it.

Just ask him politely to move over or move.

LovelyYellowLabrador · 02/04/2022 12:39

Get a mag or newspaper out of you have one and spread out into his space

This so untrue. I tried it a few times and the men didn’t budge an inch, I think they may have enjoyed it 🤢

You have to speak to them or they won’t move. “Excuse me you’re using all the legroom for both seats and I’m uncomfortable can you move please.”

balalake · 02/04/2022 13:18

Say something. When you leave the bus, just before leaving make a comment to infer they are unable to satisfy a woman.

WalkingOnTheCracks · 02/04/2022 16:00

Just in defence of - not men - but tall people.

On most buses, my thigh bone is longer than the space provided. So I either have to sit with my legs at an angle between the seats, or with my legs in the aisle.

Neither makes me popular.

cafedesreves · 02/04/2022 16:32

I'm afraid I was too nervous to say anything. But I don't believe he was oblivious, just utterly selfish!

OP posts:
Mysterian · 02/04/2022 16:37

I'm 6 foot 2. I just don't fit in bus seats. The ones in my area have concave backs which are narrower than I am wide so there is no way I can avoid overlapping the seat next to me, and even then they're seriously uncomfortable. And leg room doesn't work either.

I'm filing this one away for future use!
Freddiefox · 02/04/2022 17:01

Spread too, lean on yours knees, with your elbows, stick your heels out either side and go on you phone make your labels bigger. Wobble your leg up and down too. Ignore him… but make him feel uncomfortable

ilovesooty · 02/04/2022 17:04

If you're too nervous to say anything you won't get the space you need and are entitled to.

BruceAndNosh · 02/04/2022 17:08

If his leg is in your half of the seat, pop your handbag on his thigh as a handy table
