AIBU for feeling uncomfortable with being the subject of MIL April fools?

My MIL April Fooled my BIL.

When she told me this I said I was uncomfortable she'd done that.

She said she didn't think I'd mind as I'm usually a good sport.

We have a DS and would like one more and while we aren't actively trying (ie tracking ovulation) we aren't not trying, but it hasn't happened yet.

She doesn't know this.

AIBU for being unhappy at her using my womb as the subject of her April Fools joke?

No. I hate those April Fools, they're really shitty and annoying. Most of April Fools really: stupid or cruel or both.

DenholmElliot · 01/04/2022 16:49

What was the April fool joke?

Nnique · 01/04/2022 16:50

Oh god no that is a horrible horrible ‘joke’.

DameMargaretofChalfont · 01/04/2022 16:51

I'm assuming she told BIL you were pregnant??

Chamomileteaplease · 01/04/2022 16:51

You haven't said what the joke was!

Theunamedcat · 01/04/2022 16:52

One of those pregnancy ones?

They are not funny at all

WeDontShutUpAboutBruno · 01/04/2022 16:53

If she told BIL journey pregnant then YANBU.

That's the worse possible 'joke' on this day.

JakeyRolling · 01/04/2022 16:53

Sorry half a sentence disappeared - she told BIL I was pregnant.

OP posts:
girlmom21 · 01/04/2022 16:54

She's a prick.
YANBU.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 01/04/2022 16:54

Many April fools are cruel rather than funny imo. At dc school they were fooled that they had tests instead of a treat and many believed it. And teacher was apparently fooled that she was fired, and another fooled kids that she was leaving. Personally I think these were all awful as was you MILs. YANBU

Nightlystroll · 01/04/2022 16:55

What did she do? Tell your bil that you were pregnant? If you hadn't been trying (which she doesn't know about), would you have been offended?
If my mil had told my bil I'd broken my leg and I hadn't, I wouldn't be bothered. So I don't think I'd be bothered about a joke about my personal health. Maybe you're just understandably over-sensutive at the moment. But if she didn't know you it was something you were worried about, it's hard to blame her really.

RedWreck · 01/04/2022 16:55

No that's not funny! Out of the thousands of things she could have said she chose that?
I'd be pretty cross about that.

forlornlorna · 01/04/2022 16:56

That's an absolutely awful thing to do.

I'm sorry she's done this to you.

JudgeRindersMinder · 01/04/2022 16:57

That was just downright nasty. Did she miss the part where a joke is supposed to be funny?

Youdoyoutoday · 01/04/2022 16:58

Eh?
How does you being pregnant have anything to do with BIL? I don't get why that would be funny!

It's a stupid joke though

HellToTheNope · 01/04/2022 17:00

How is telling someone you're pregnant a joke? Confused

What an idiot this woman is, and I would absolutely let her know that you are decidedly unimpressed.

Schmz · 01/04/2022 17:01

She’s a tit

DoingAway · 01/04/2022 17:03

It’s not a joke. It’s not funny.

diddl · 01/04/2022 17:03

How horrible.

Why your BIL?

WinniesHunny · 01/04/2022 17:07

At least you've got justification for going NC with the pathetic old trout.

MaudieandMe · 01/04/2022 17:10

It's hardly the crime of the century. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just tell her directly that you felt embarrassed by her non joke and not to do it again.

Why build it up in to a big drama?

OatmilkandCookies · 01/04/2022 17:13

Dick move. Yanbu.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 01/04/2022 17:21

That's really nasty - and not in the least funny. The idea of April Fools jokes is convincing people that something really incredible/unbelievable/shocking has happened - such as her being pregnant again.

Apart from the obvious massive line-overstepping, making up a very plausible lie like that is just pointless - like telling somebody that you've dropped 10p down a drain and waiting for them to be horrified, or saying that you had white toast for breakfast because the wholemeal had gone mouldy, when in fact it was fresh all along!!!!

She should be on the stage at the local comedy club.... sweeping up after everybody has gone home.

godmum56 · 01/04/2022 17:42

how is that even funny?

Mydogmylife · 01/04/2022 17:47

Not funny for so many different reasons
