Giant water pistol.
Are these neighbours children or adults?

RubyReigns · 29/03/2022 16:59

Why are your neighbours climbing your fence? Adults or kids? Hose them whenever they’re climbing on it.

Everyonelovesgoodneighbours · 29/03/2022 17:14

Kids and adults. Who knows why?
Is it not anti social to put anti climb spikes on?

It's antisocial to climb your neighbour's fence.
MrsMoastyToasty · 29/03/2022 17:24

Plant a Holly bush or Pyracantha bush.

Sistanotcista · 29/03/2022 17:24

I guess the salient question is, who owns the fence? If it’s yours you can put trellis, spikes, anti climb paint, etc on it.

BitOutOfPractice · 29/03/2022 17:26

What sort of fence is it?

Soontobe60 · 29/03/2022 17:28

Why are they climbing the fence anyway?

PineappleRingo · 29/03/2022 17:33

I feel like this thread needs a diagram or more context?
I have many questions…
How high is the fence?
Are they climbing on it to get to the other side? If yes why?
When you’ve asked them to not climb on your fence what is their reply?

Hosta13 · 29/03/2022 17:37

I've my own thread about my neighbours climbing my fence or lifting the panels (they are now fixed with a combination of brackets and wedges) but coincidentally I've just seen the neighbours kids climbing the fence on the other side (into their other neighbours garden). Typical wooden fence which - like mine - is getting battered because they're not meant to be climbed up/ on / over.

What I'd say from this is prickly plants won't work, because they will just jump over them, I suspect that is what they do in my garden. I think anti climb paint is a better alternative, or rubber spikes. If it's your fence that is.

debwong · 29/03/2022 17:43

Are they climbing the fence because you have imprisoned them all in your garden? Your post gives us little context.

LesLavandes · 29/03/2022 17:57

Don't be silly

Why are grown adults climbing your fence? Confused

Everyonelovesgoodneighbours · 29/03/2022 18:25

The fence is between our rear gardens. No through access needed by either side. It used to be about 4ft and the neighbours spent their time watching us whenever we were in our garden/leaning over the fence/ I think they basically thought our garden was an extension of theirs. Kids used to climb all the time to get stuff they’d kicked/thrown in like footballs, despite us asking them to walk around and use the gate. In fact the day after we asked them to stop climbing the fence and use the gate, we saw the dad helping his kids over.
So we got fed up and replaced the fence at cost to ourselves, it’s now 6ft 6. But the problem persists. We’ve told them multiple times to not climb the fence and they then gaslight us and tell us they haven’t, even though we’ve stood and watched them!

Honestly OP but for the new fence I'd think you lived on the other side of my awful neighbours. So solidarity, I completely understand how awful it is to have people with such little regard for your private space when you've spelled it out (and they deny it). I am pretty sure this would be my neighbour's response, they like to say that I'm crazy or mental (for objecting to their kids constantly banging their ball against my fence and damaging it, and letting themselves into my garden) so that would fit their narrative.

Anti climb paint and/ or fence spikes (not metal just hard plastic). Won't wound, but they make it very uncomfortable to put hands or feet on them.

Climbing and rambling roses many can grow upto 40ft, start them off tied to the fence and cable tie them lightly. Mix in with some really nice clematis, ever green ones will keep it looking lovely all year round and smell heavenly.

Anti-climb paint, piece of cake.

Qwill · 29/03/2022 18:43

Dig a trench at the bottom of the garden next to the fence and fill it with food waste and horse manure and plant some vegetables!

billy1966 · 29/03/2022 18:48

Anti climb paint and slather with axel grease.

Qwill · 29/03/2022 18:52

Anti climb paint would only work if you could paint their side though? Actually if you just painted your side it would mean they couldn’t get out and then you could called the police saying you have trespassers on your property!!

statetrooperstacey · 29/03/2022 18:53

Another vote for anti vandal paint . They will only do it once ! I ruined a pair of jeans a coat and a brand new handbag , and yes I was climbing a wall i shouldn’t have been Grin
