To want to return something to The Range?!

flower277 · 21/03/2022 16:48

Sorry I’m posting for traffic. I ordered my son a gaming chair from the Range for his birthday which was on Saturday. Parcel was sat in the house a week before his birthday, his dad got up early on his birthday to put the chair together, and it’s faulty with a hole being in the wrong place on a metal bar. I can’t seem to get hold of anyone to organise a return/replacement? I’m stuck on hold with music playing. They haven’t answered my comments on social media. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Have you been on their website. Details of how to return are probably on there.

Wouldntitbenicetobeinyourshoes · 21/03/2022 16:58

It says here to send a message

www.therange.co.uk/contact/

flower277 · 21/03/2022 17:15

I have done everything bar send a message on the website, that is my next port of call but it says they take 4 days to respond so wanted to speak to a person hence me ringing the customer service phone number. Checking visitor posts on Facebook it seems everyone who wants to return something has struggled to speak to a human being and says there is no customer service, wish I’d read that before I ordered 😫

I feel your pain @flower277
I am sick of the s*it service nowadays.
If this is progress I want to rewind a bit.

The Range have the worst staff I have ever come across.
This is a sign they had up recently..

Could you box it back up and physically take it to your nearest store for a refund? Assuming you have transport that is, at least they cannot ignore you if you are there.

doadeer · 21/03/2022 17:50

I work in retail and this is the worst returns process I've ever seen. I'm actually surprised it's legal. It's not the norm at all to have to contact them to authorise a return. In fact I've never seen this before.

It would certainly make me think twice about shopping with them. Sorry that's not helpful for you currently. But know that legally they do have to offer you a refund.

Speakuptomakeyourselfheard · 21/03/2022 17:57

Just as a matter of interest, are you absolutely sure that your DH put it together correctly? Only over the years I've put together many bits of furniture, etc. and although I've cussed and sworn, and been convinced that the part was wrong, when I started over, I always discovered that it wasn't the part, it was me! Maybe in view of all the problems you're having, it might be worth having another go at putting it together. Just a thought.

eldora · 21/03/2022 17:58

I'd send the message first, that way it's in the ether.

I'd also keep a record of the date and time it was sent.

Can you return in store? Is there a local one?

frenchfancy81 · 21/03/2022 18:00

Message them on Facebook

flower277 · 21/03/2022 18:04

It’s definitely a part problem 😢 we are going to see if we can put it together without that screw and it be safe because I can’t actually be bothered with the hassle 😢 they won’t let me take it back to store because it’s from a “partner” company

They run a dropship programme so it's not fulfilled by them

RunningKatie · 21/03/2022 18:38

We had this, it took forever to get sorted. I filled in the online forms, nothing. I rang, the return was authorised and collected.
Then they didn't refund, so I had to start the whole chasing game again.
When I did get through on the phone the staff were super helpful but the process was horrendous. Not using them again.

flower277 · 21/03/2022 18:42

I have also messaged the company that make the chairs in case they can just send a replacement part 🤞

I bought a desk from them, my husband built it and saw damage to the top of it, I contacted them to see if they could help - either exchange or swap out that piece. They said they wouldn't help because he should have seen the damage before it was assembled. I have never heard that excuse from any other company.

Doglikeahorse · 21/03/2022 19:21

I used the range once and never again.
I waited 10 weeks for a next day delivery item that got lost ‘in the van’ and then was supposed to be happy when it eventually arrived Hmm

They refused to refund me without me sending it back but wouldn’t accept a store return so I was stuck with the item for even longer until they collected it weeks later and it arrived back at the warehouse, being transported back in the van Bermuda Triangle Grin

Never ever again op get your money and run!

Did you use a credit card/PayPal? Claim back through them?

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 21/03/2022 20:21

An example of their customer service at our local store.
Went for compost and the outdoor area was indeed filled. No prices. Assistant sat on the edge of the displays lining up planters and pots. I asked her the prices. She asked which one did I want. I said I didn't know until I knew the cost. She shrugged and went back to her pots. I reported her to a manager. And went to another shop. I am a gardener and had a lot of money to spend. Sure Home Bargains appreciated my custom!

GrendelsGrandma · 21/03/2022 20:26

Are you really surprised? It's like the Ryanair of shops. Cheap crap that's destroying the environment.

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 21/03/2022 20:29

2 weeks ago I took a supposed planter costing 4.99 to the till. It scanned at 6.99. I told the assistant I didn't want it. All priced according to pot measurements which weren't actually on the pots. Memo to take tape measure...
Last week the aisles (not isles) had been reshuffled. Yep. Pots had been relocated and still priced wrong.
Going to B&q this week!!

They are awful. I bought a 2 chest of drawers which were described as made from pine but were in fact MDF. Wanted to return but ran into all the issues you are. In the end realised we were never going to get a refund, chalked it up to a lesson learnt and vowed never to use them again. How they are in business is beyond me. I hope you do get your money back/replacement part. Hideous company

WeCouldBeSpearows · 21/03/2022 22:10

Is Shetland the small animal isle? I'm thinking of ponies, specifically... Shetland lambs are also quite compact (and very cute)
