AIBU: chicken with raspberry jam and other shit food

GoingBacktoSchool123 · 18/03/2022 22:36

Just watched a random pop up video on MN where chicken was marinated in raspberry jam. Why oh why the need to cover a healthy protein which can be made delicious in so many ways, with a shit load of sugar?? AIBU to think this is crap recipe and that MH should do better than promote it??

What other recipes fall into the category of total crap.

I keep getting this ad. It always makes me feel vaguely nauseous when I see it crop up, gooey, raspberry chicken and a pile of bland rice. Not the most appetising.

FloraPostePosts · 18/03/2022 22:38

I get this one all the time too. It’s not quite as bad as the chopped salmon and carrot bowl of sick one, but close.

XenoBitch · 18/03/2022 22:39

I keep seeing it too. And the salmon one where it is pulverised into a pile of vomit looking goop. Then I remember this is MN and it is for babies.

TotalRhubarb · 18/03/2022 22:42

I keep being baffled by a meal of chicken in jam with white rice and not a single veg on the plate...

Don’t they know this place is mostly frequented by mums? And that we’ll all be obsessed with getting two veg at least (and preferably three) into our kids in every hot meal?!

Thoosa · 18/03/2022 22:43

I saw that! Then the next morning I thought maybe I’d hit it wrong. Most strange.

Smokeahontas · 18/03/2022 22:45

I’m clearly the wrong demographic. Thank God cos it sounds foul. I just get the Vrbo ones that murder the browsing experience.

LouLou198 · 18/03/2022 22:45

Sounds awful!
Did the chicken make enough meals for a week though? Grin

spotcheck · 18/03/2022 22:46

And the Carol Vorderman as, where she is lovingly preparing colourful slop....

PerseverancePays · 18/03/2022 22:46

It is a bad message altogether; take a healthy food and cover it in sugar, cook it and eat it with a high glycemic carb! WTAF

GoingBacktoSchool123 · 18/03/2022 22:51

Urgh now I’m getting salmon sick instead. At least it’s healthy.

That’s Ms Karmel. She always slightly alarms me.

Probably not along the same lines, but I know several people who have peanut butter and jam on a sandwich, and a couple of people who dip their Mcdonalds fries in their milkshake. Also, a person who has mint sauce on chicken! Just why? Confused

Also, I know people who have peanut butter on BUTTERED toast!

Finally, I know someone who eats cakes (like donuts and scones,) with a knife and fork, and who also eats NAAN bread with a knife and fork. Oddly, they never do this in public; proving that they know it's batshit weird!

How is it different to Turkey and cranberry sauce?

Same idea , and people love that

raspberryjamchicken · 18/03/2022 22:57

Sounds horrible, but the number of times it popped up did inspire me when I wanted to change usernames.

raspberryjamchicken · 18/03/2022 22:58

I do butter toast with peanut butter though. I like my toast to go a bit soggy from the butter before I put anything on it. Peanut butter has a drier texture.

She keeps popping up on every thread now, with her "scrummy" fish chowder. Bleurgh!

Cranberry sauce is tart, not sweet, and only an extra calorie burden one or two days a year, for most.

Even apple sauce isn’t exactly sweet and pork is such that it needs lifting. Chicken is so moist anyway.

Overthinking this, probably. Smile

"Cranberry sauce is tart, not sweet, and only an extra calorie burden one or two days a year, for most."

Cranberry sauce is just jam.

Loads of people have sweet things with savoury.

Loads of people have jam all the time.

"Calorie burden" 🙄

We do all of these apart from chicken with mint sauce. None of it is weird.

Forget the jam. Watched Marcus Wareing in a clip on Gogglebox making an Eton Mess. MW has a new kitchen garden and appeared to be determined to use all of it. The Eton Mess included shop bought meringues, roasted stone fruits and a hefty amount of lavender. He made a praline to add to it which also included a hefty amount of lavender. And to finish off the abomination, another good sprinkling of lavender. Utterly revolting and, I would guess, completely inedible. Ugh.

I've not seen it, sounds vile

Peanut Butter and Jam sandwich is delicious. Don’t knock it until you try it.

I'm so glad someone else thought it was Carol Vorderman, I think it everytime I see it.

Vampirethriller · 19/03/2022 06:58

Mint sauce on chicken is very nice, peanut butter and jam has been a thing for a long time and cake forks exist so what's wrong with using a fork to eat cake.
