Workouts for the lazy

ManifestingMaureen · 18/03/2022 15:32

Just wondering if anyone can suggest a basic but effective full body workout- YouTube based etc
Mainly for health purposes but I wouldn't mind toning up! I want something that I can do at home, with minimal to none equipment- the quicker the better!! Complete beginner..

Am I being delusional or is there something out there for me Grin

Fabulous 50s ...
Easy to do 30 seconds exercise, 30 seconds walk for half an hr.

BlackInk · 18/03/2022 15:55

Yoga with Adriene on YouTube!

There are hundreds of videos to choose from and all different lengths so you can pick a 5 or 10 minute one if you're feeling really lazy!

Yoga is great for all-over toning and flexibility as well as general well-being. If you have a sore back or a headache or are feeling down you can choose a video aimed specifically at that.

I'm very lazy, but have been doing a Yoga With Adriene most weekday mornings for over a year. I usually do it when I get back from dropping DC at school, then have breakfast before starting work. It makes me feel good!

traintraveller · 18/03/2022 16:06

I like Emi Wong on YouTube, loads of workouts targeting different areas, lasting 10-60mins and varying levels of intensity. A plus point is that she doesn't talk throughout.

ManifestingMaureen · 18/03/2022 18:09

Thanks all.. I have never considered yoga as an actual exercise, I thought it was more for flexibility and the mind?! Told you I was a novice 🙃

I will have a look at all suggestions later!

growwithjo

dipdye · 18/03/2022 18:38

Walk up the stairs more
Take each individual plate out of the dishwasher
Park further from the supermarket so you walk more

That kind of thing?

banivani · 18/03/2022 18:53

Growwithjo on YouTube have some tough tabata style workouts and some are only ten minutes long so bearable even if you’re lazy Grin Otherwise I second yoga workouts - Yoga with Kassandra have a whole month playlist of ten minute long morning workouts and now I’m a morning yoga person, who knew.

Icantfindanewname · 18/03/2022 18:58

Rebecca louise Barre workouts on YouTube. English woman living out in USA. Quite bouncy, but not as annoying as some of the others I have looked at. Lots of deceptively difficult 10 minute or so workouts.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/03/2022 19:00

It depends why you mean by 'health' - yoga (or pilates) is good for some aspects but not really for cardiovascular fitness. You need to do something that raises your heart rate - tabata intervals of some sort can be good but you do have to put the effort in, just for short times.

hihellohihello · 18/03/2022 19:08

I'm lazy.

I chose the easiest option.

Honestly! It was easy because I tried it round the house and I deduced it was fine to keep going for at least half an hour! This is out of cancer treatment, heating 50 and definitely peri/menopausal (that's what cancer treatment does pretty sharply) and with a bad back.

Now, few years later, run 10k a day and walk 5k (walking is easy and does make a difference I found) plus resistance exercises and weights a few times a week.

All easy. All stayed easy. Don't do difficult. No personal trainers shouting at me or shit like that. Just me, a soundtrack, doing stuff I can do but very much doing it and keeping on doing it.Smile

fallfallfall · 18/03/2022 19:08

i swear by the "walk at home" program
free older video's on youtube
love the new app that works very well my my smart tv.

hihellohihello · 18/03/2022 19:09

Nearing 50! Although heating is also quite accurate, menopause and all!Grin

Thatswhyimacat · 18/03/2022 19:14

Fitness blender have videos of all lengths, all training styles and for all fitness levels. Check out their website, you can filter by time, training type and difficulty, they have like 600 workouts.

Delusional.

There’s no magic to it. Your fitness level is a direct reflection of your effort. Mild effort, minimal fitness.

Sort of not true. More of the stuff you can manage really makes a difference. Yes, you have to put the time in so effort that way but it does make a difference. But you don't have to half kill yourself in the process. Look up MAF training. I logged it, and weight loss - everything.

BeanStew22 · 18/03/2022 20:12

You tube workouts

You need to find someone whose style you like. I like both Gina B and Anna Renderer as they are encouraging and give clear instructions

woodhill · 18/03/2022 20:14

I like Pahla B, 20-25 mins a day and not too difficult. She is geeky and it's not too difficult

Yeah.. this is what I thought unfortunately. I think I need to do some cardiovascular exercise as I do have a very sedentary job. I run around doing the housework after work and walk where I can and what not, but I realise it's not quite the same. I was hoping there was a magic quick 10 min workout that would be beneficial Sad

I thought so Grin I will definitely try and put more effort in, I am hoping I will learn to enjoy exercising!

Yoga with Adrienne is good. She does a 30 day thing so a video each day for a month and they’re not difficult. Walking and swimming are gentle too.
