How do you make yourself feel better after a difficult day

Just that really, I've had a difficult day today, nothing major, just couple of very disappointing things happen at work, home and school. Interested in how other people deal with such days. I'm having a glass of wine, listening to music and just generally trying to distract my thoughts from dwelling on it too much.

Mainly vodka... pjs and cooking dinner
I also turn my phone off and watch a movie

Lampzade · 14/03/2022 17:11

Nice meal, hot bath, comedy and realising that tomorrow will be better

DelurkingAJ · 14/03/2022 17:12

Chocolate and a moan to DH who is excellent at diffusing these things for me.

MrsMinge · 14/03/2022 17:13

Wine, headphones & little dance around the kitchen

DetailMouse · 14/03/2022 17:16

Go for a run

Whelmed · 14/03/2022 17:16

I might watch an episode of black books as a further distraction. I've asked Ds for a funny joke, got a 5 minute rambling knock knock joke which involved a YouTube video somehow 😂

I've had a stressful morning today but relaxed by going for a 2 mile walk in the sunshine. If i'm driving alone then I find a good sing in the car releases a lot of stress!

I give myself a set period to think it through and wallow a bit in the poor me scenario. Come to terms with whatever has been disappointing, put a positive plan in place to try and compensate if possible, then distract myself and get on with the day as normal. I don't much care for linking treats to disappointments as I find it spoils them a bit with the association.

Cold glass of wine, a deep bubble bath with posh products, favourite pjs and a good tv show

Hellocatshome · 14/03/2022 17:22

Eat junk food and watch things like Malcolm in the Middle. But now I'm on Weight Watchers so I just watch Malcolm in the Middle and drink Gin Sad

iklboo · 14/03/2022 17:22

Clean sheets
Clean pjs
Hot shower
Early night with a nice smelly candle, a good book and some music - maybe indie or 90s trance
Both cats on the bed snuggling up to me

Asongfromthedarkesthour · 14/03/2022 17:36

Always chocolate. Sometimes alcohol but always chocolate! I cross stitch as well, really good keeping your mind occupied.

grafittiartist · 14/03/2022 17:44

Me too!
Feel really flat. Will run with my friends then have some nice tea.
Tomorrow is another day Smile

UnaOfStormhold · 14/03/2022 17:45

For me a run or a yoga video, both seem to settle my mind and leave me more peaceful and ready to sleep.

Imissmoominmama · 14/03/2022 17:46

I go to bed with the cat, the smaller dog, and a book. I soon forget the day.

myfavperson · 14/03/2022 17:48

Hot bubble bath with Epsom salts, a take out and maybe a glass of wine and then sit in bed watching tele

romdowa · 14/03/2022 17:51

Pjs , bed , hot water bottle and either a book or my switch. Distraction is the only way i can relax

BetsyBigNose · 14/03/2022 17:54

My perfect 'pick me up' evening would consist of a hot bubble bath with a good book, fresh, cosy PJs, a cuddle with my teenagers, an Indian takeaway followed by snuggling up with my lovely DH to watch a TV show (it almost makes having a bad day seem worth it!)

Sorry you've had a rubbish day, I hope you feel better after some inspiration from this thread and that tomorrow is much better!

Disneyblueeyes · 14/03/2022 17:54

A large amount of wine.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 14/03/2022 17:54

Wine, gin anything with a % really. Pjs, blanket and my book!

faceonfire · 14/03/2022 17:57

I always think to myself “will this day matter in a day, a week or a months time?” If no, then it’s not worth worrying about or dwelling on.
