Influencer's sons behaviour. AIBU to think it's not funny

Can't name names obviously but she is an "influencer" and former football WAG and was on the Real Housewives of Cheshire for many years. She's a brunette.

Was idly scrolling Instagram and fell on to her page, there's a video of her son (7-8yrs old?) smashing a large foil balloon purposefully towards his grandfather, smacking the grandfather to the side of his body (who was just sitting peacefully on the sofa) and spilling his tea all over the sofa.

The video was posted 4 days ago so plenty of comments, most of them with "😂" and saying "boys will be boys!" etc.

There were (only) a couple of comments hitting back saying it wasn't funny and this Influencer replied "it's just a ballon, get over it" type comments.

I'm embarrassed for them and horrified they let their children "play" like this and laugh at the child.

Is it just me that doesn't find this funny?!

If my children did this they'd get a stern telling off Blush

Perhaps I shouldn’t comment without seeing it, but it sounds a bit unpleasant. I wouldn’t have let mine behave like that either, unless perhaps Grandad was up on his feet and very much joining in with the game.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 13/03/2022 15:08

I hope she’s not an influencer for parenting?

Yes I was thinking the same, if it was part of a game, fine! But granddad was just sitting there minding his own business.

No just a WAG/former reality TV star as far as I'm aware. I don't follow her so not entirely sure.

Still, why would you film this and put this on Instagram?! She has half a million followers!

Unless the comments were from you then no
I don't find it funny either but I have given up caring what influences get up to.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 13/03/2022 15:12

It was probably faked. (Not sure if that makes it better or worse!)

CannaBelieve · 13/03/2022 15:12

Just watched it

She can barely speak that woman! Has she got lips filled?

I think she's had a fair bit of work done, yes.

I'm partial to a bit of Botox myself so I'll keep quiet on that one Blush (no lip filler though!)

Why can't you name names? Tanya Bardsley's hardly going to sue you for slagging her off on Mumsnet Grin

This is exactly who i was thinking of! To be honest though from what ive seen of her on tv she has no manners at all, so it's hardly a shock that her son would behave like that!
MrsTerryPratchett · 13/03/2022 15:21

Boys will be boys such a damaging phrase. Sexist, condoning violence, all in a few words.

AmyDudley · 13/03/2022 15:21

I'm so out of touch I have absolutely no idea who you are talking about (and probably wouldn't recognise the name if you told me).
The behaviour sounds horrible and the parent stupid.
What are influencers anyway? - who do they intend to influence, other idiots? Does any one actually allow themselves to be influenced by these people? It is so easy to get a public platform nowadays that you have to take it like the speakers in Hyde Park Corner - 99% are nuts and only the very occasional person has something interesting or informative to say.

catstale · 13/03/2022 15:22

That post is so obviously fake. The tea was spilled over the (blanketed) sofa before the balloon was hit.

The bananas in pyjamas post is cringe. She's been watching too many of Charlotte Dawson's videos.

Thesearmsofmine · 13/03/2022 15:27

It looks set up to me. Why else would she be filming? I do hate the boys will be boys thing, I have 3 boys and they know how to behave.

MissyB1 · 13/03/2022 15:33

“Boys will be boys” is so patronising to boys and so sexist. It’s basically saying that boys have zero self control and are incapable of behaving.
Lots of people see it as an excuse which allows boys to get away with shitty behaviour. I see it as an insult.

Don’t know anything about influencers though, are they something to do with Instagram? I’m not on that.

BobHadBitchTits · 13/03/2022 15:33

Never heard of her.

WyattIsMyName · 13/03/2022 15:34

It isn’t funny. That’s just fucking annoying behaviour.

HandlebarLadyTash · 13/03/2022 15:38

I think you should unfollow & find someone more interesting. Most influencers are fakey paid for promotion people it's all bollocks.

Georgeskitchen · 13/03/2022 15:38

Never watch stuff like this . Not interested in the slightest about what these attention seeking idiots think is "entertainment " and I don't think they should be leaving their kids open to ridicule, trolling etc .
I'm glad my kids grew up before the advent of social media. I feel sorry for my grandchildren with all this crap everywhere

JuliaSways · 13/03/2022 15:43

Oh gosh, she epitomises the fact that money can't buy you class.

I say that as a proud working class woman, with no money 😉😂

FlouncerSIT · 13/03/2022 15:46

I'm sure I can't be the only one who'll be glad when these "influencers" have been consigned to the dustbin of history where they belong. Would love to see them have to do a real job for a change (though I'm not sure their talons and warpaint would stand it...)

FTEngineerM · 13/03/2022 15:54

Well that was annoying to watch.

Definitely a set up though, who would be that chill about tea being throw all over their CREAM probably expensive A F sofa?!

Someone with scotch guard?

The whole influencer culture is worrying. You only have to look at the SacconeJolys and the way they are exploiting their 7 year old child. It's scary. These children being brought up in this environment and their lives plastered all over the Internet are going to need an awful lot of counselling as adults.
