Taking phone in the shower

My partner is constantly glued to his phone, so much so, he takes it with him even when he goes for a shower. Is this normal behaviour? Should I be worried? It’s kept on silent too so never makes a sound when messages/calls come through. There’s clearly something he doesn’t want me to see on there or am I being paranoid and maybe this is just how people are with phones?

Our shower is too loud to play music over. It is a power shower, and the pump is in the airing cupboard next to the bathroom. It wouldn't occur to me to listen to music in the bathroom TBH.

My phone is always on silent and I tend to take it most places with me, often the shower too unless it needs charged and I'm single and not talking to anyone so I don't find it suspicious

I don't think taking it everywhere is suspicious on its own. I would also take my phone into the shower but are there any other signs? Is this new or has he always been like this. You know him so maybe trust your instincts.

Typical MN posters on this thread who can't understand that other people do things differently to them! A shower takes you a few minutes? Good for you! Some people like to take longer.

Depends if it’s normal for him. I don’t take my phone anywhere and can rarely find it and that’s normal for me! Drives the family crazy 😂

If he’s suddenly starting taking it in or is being precious about his going in general I’d possibly be concerned but to be hinest I probably wouldn’t even notice.

I tend to have my phone with me all the time and I do take it into the bathroom with me when I have a shower/bath. And I always have it on silent, too. I'm definitely not having any kind of affair!

I know some people find that weird/unhealthy/whatever but it's really just down to personal preference. My phone is my clock and alarm (I don't wear a watch), a source of news (BBC, newspaper subscription), a diary (calendar app), a library (my Kindle and phone are synced), music player (not just for music but for audiobooks and podcasts), radio, TV, camera, debit card, travel pass, entertainment (puzzles and games), notebook, shopping mall, and a means of chatting to friends and family (text and social media). I can also control my central heating from it and use to remotely record stuff from my Sky box, and there are a million other things I use it for as well. So, it just kind of comes everywhere with me.

In the shower, I'm mostly using it to keep an eye on the time, or I put Radio 4 on to listen to while I'm getting ready. I don't think anyone would bat an eyelid if someone said they listen to a radio while they shower, would they?
